34 Year Old Petite Asian Mom of Two 32A/B Getting 210/240cc Ideal Implants
MylilsecretNovember 8, 2020
I’ve been wanting BA since my early 20s. I’ve always been athletic and active with my weight consistently between 103-107. After breastfeeding two kids, I lost a lot of volume on the top and and noticed that my boobs are the saggiest they’ve ever been!! On top of it, the asymmetry in my breasts is now even more apparent as my right boob is just about flat. Even after my firstborn, I was still able to fill a B cup (though a small B). After the second child, there’s now major gaps when I wear a B cup bra and I’m pretty sure I’m currently an A. My pregnancy and breastfeeding boobs were between a large C-D cup and I would like to have them permanently!
After a ton of readings and research, I decided to go with Dr. Salemy and that I’m getting Ideal implants. I want something that even when ruptured, it’ll just absorb into my body without worrying about the potential of silicone traveling to other parts of my body. I like Dr.Salemy’s work from his gallery the best and in my initial consultation with him and the staff, I felt that it was a great fit. Dr. Salemy and the team answered all of my questions and I felt good with the pre-op scheduled.
Ideal implants weren’t on the market for a while due to their facility not approved by the FDA (you can Google the actual FDA report on them), so my pre-op got pushed from July to October then yet again to this month. I was, however, NOT informed or aware about the lack of Ideal implants in October, which was supposed to be the month that they would start selling again.
Dr. Salemy’s office didn’t call me or notify me in any way. I had to travel to the office to find that out. I did see Dr.Salemy and he at the time said to me that his coordinator, Rebecca, had talked to the rep and that they were talking about comping the implants. He also said that as he doesn’t know when Ideal would become available again, he would be happy to refund my $500 deposit. I was not expecting this but quite happy that this was the case. I wanted to have him as my surgeon regardless, so I didn’t take up on the offer of the deposit refund. Since the coordinator was on vacation at the time, I was told that she would give me a call to just follow up and figure out a plan with me, as the rep didn’t even know when the implants would be available.
In the next couple of weeks, I received a few calls of follow ups from the office’s coordinators, which was reassuring. However, each time I asked about the comp from Ideal and the refund of deposit, they absolutely would not acknowledge what Dr. Salemy had told me and continued to make it seem that it was I who proposed these ideas. There was no apology or clarification from them for the miscommunication, and instead, they continued to say they would ask for me. This didn’t sit well with me—I was never expecting any of these things to begin with and if Dr.Salemy had shared that to a patient, even as a mistake, the coordinator should have clarified that than making a client seem that she was in the wrong.
Ultimately, as upset as I am with the office’s communication, I do think they did a good job on following up and scheduling me for a pre-op and surgery for this month (now that Ideal is once again available).
My pre-op appointment with Dr.Salemy was also not the most pleasant. While I absolutely trust his expertise and skills, as a patient and client, I felt that what I was expressing to him regarding my questions and wish for an periareolar incision (especially since he has periaereolar incision cases on his website), concerns around scars, and a different size were not fully listened to. It was more of Dr.Salemy telling me what he will or won’t do rather than an open discussion with me. He also offered again to refund my deposit and that I may need to look into other surgeons. While very nice of him, it sounded dismissive in the context and the tone. In the end, even as I agree to what he shared with me about my body type and the reason for an inframammary incision, I walked away questioning my decision to go with Dr.Salemy.
In discussing this with my husband, it ultimately came down to whether I want a nice doctor who may not give me the result or a doctor who may not have the time to hear a client out but delivers great results. I choose the latter. I’m still working through some nervousness about the surgery, especially after the negative communication, but I’m also super excited about having volume to my breasts again by the end of the month!

UPDATED FROM Mylilsecret
Further Communication Update

It doesn't seem like that I'm able to edit the previous review, so I'm adding an update instead. Dr. Salemy's office called to schedule a second conversation with me after the review below was posted. I really appreciated Dr. Salemy's time and transparency in the second phone call. It was clear that he and the office were concerned about my feelings towards the procedure and the experience, which to me is patient-focused and made me feel much better about the previous visit. Dr. Salemy acknowledged my comments and very clearly conveyed that he supports my right to speak openly about my experience. He also listened to my concerns and helped to clarify any perspectives that I had yet to think about. I wrote the original review as a way to share my nervousness about surgery in general and to seek community support. Looking back, however, I believe I did not clearly express this intention which lead to further misunderstanding. Ultimately, while there was some miscommunication during my previous visit, I still feel confident and comfortable with the decision to have Dr. Salemy as my surgeon.

I didn’t end up doing the BA with Dr. Salemy. I went to Dr. Baxter instead and love love love my result! I can’t give enough praise to Dr. Baxter! My Ideal implants feel super soft and the incisions are perfectly hidden right at the crease and small, exactly what I asked for ❤️

Was dr Baxter more expensive then salemy? How was your your experience? I am considering between three doctors: salemy, Baxter, or workman.

I don’t know about Dr. Workman, but I would still go to go to Dr. Baxter if I ever want anything else done. Dr. Baxter’s quote is higher than Dr. Salemy’s and worth every penny. From the moment I called them to post op and follow up, I was met with the best customer service and treated like VIP. Dr. Baxter and his staff took the time to listen and answer all of my questions, never making me feel like I was “just another job”, and every single staff was genuinely kind and friendly. It was hands down the best decision and I would go to Dr. Baxter again and again.
