Week 6 post-op doesn’t bring many changes from week 5. I’m still frustrated with my left boob looking a good amount smaller than my right and not dropping as low. I think my left boob might have started a little higher so maybe it will always look like this. The bottom of the left boob is a good 1 inch higher than the right. I know it’s not super noticeable with clothes on, but I definitely can see a difference when I look in the mirror. I’ll give them another few months before I really judge them! At least they don’t feel like hard rocks anymore. They have significantly softened up. Still using the scar gel twice a day. I’ve noticed they’re a little bit less red, but not a huge difference. Armpit nerve pain has gotten a lot better. Crazy how much the massaging helped! For anyone who is having nerve pain especially due to transax incision, this is what my doctor told me. There’s a nerve that runs down your armpit to your boob (see the red line in the pic). Use your index finger and press along the nerve in different sections (along the green line in the pic). I usually find the nerve (it’s kind of swollen), hold down for 10 seconds, move over a tiny bit along the green line and hold down for 10 seconds. And keep doing this back and forth. Keep your arm down while you’re doing it so you’re not stretching out the nerve, because that’s just painful and my doctor said stretching your arm up is not helpful! I’m still massaging but not as intensely as before. I’m mainly pushing down on the top of my boobs, pushing them together, and pushing them up for 30 seconds each. As for exercising, I’ve only been doing walks, spin bike, and lower body exercises. Doing upper body felt weird when I reintroduced it 2 weeks ago. I could feel my chest muscles contract even when I was doing light bicep curls. Freaked me out so I’m holding off another couple weeks. Also it’s tough finding sports bras that fit right with implants. Maybe it’s because I’m tall, but most sports bra bands don’t come low enough to hit below my boobs and actually support them. Also, if I get a medium then the band is too loose. Any suggestions are welcome. I seem to do better with ones that fit more like bras (have a band size and adjustable straps). Sometimes I just want a lighter fitting one though and they just don’t fit right!
5 weeks PO and follow-up visit
I’m a little over 5 weeks post-op now. Boobs still hurt, nipples are still sore and semi numb, and still getting nerve pain on tops of boobs and armpits. I’m continuing the massages and massaging the nerves (per doctors instructions) to alleviate the pain. I wore a bathing suit to the beach for the first time since my surgery and it was so fun to actually fill out a bathing suit. I’m still not 100% comfortable with them bolted onto my body though and I know it will take time! My 5 week post-op appt today went well. The doc said I’m healing well. I got Biocorneum scar gel from the doctors office and started using it tonight. Hopefully it helps my scars heal quicker because it’s annoying how visible they are with sleeveless or bathing suits. If you’re getting transax incisions really consider having your surgery in the winter because the incisions are pretty visible! Here are a few pics from week 5.
Bra shopping at Nordstrom! 4 weeks PO
I went bra shopping for the first time today since my BA! I got two wireless bras (Wacoal and Lively) and a lacey black underwire bra (Natori) for once I’m fully healed :) All from Nordstrom. 34C fit perfectly so I’m hoping I stay the same size once they drop and heal more. Until then I’ll just cycle through these bras and the lighter cotton bras I’ve bought. It feels amazing to fill out a bra!
