Breast Augmentation with Dr Gelfant - 325 CC
WORTH IT
Stats
Height & weight: 5”10, 130 lbs
Pre surgery: 36 AAA (honestly flat as a board)
Post surgery: 36B
Size: 325 cc, Silicone Implants - arm pit incision
Age: mid 30's
Real self was so helpful in my research phase of my breast augmentation journey so I wanted to finally share my experience (better late than never!).
I’ve always been extremely flat chested my entire life, never being able to fill out even a AA bra. I briefly had breasts while breastfeeding my two children, but they were short lived. I was always confident with my small boobs but following children the deflated look started to get me down. I never wanted huge breasts, just something to compliment my tall, slender frame and to fill out bathing suits and clothing.
I had been considering a BA on and off for over 10 years but finally in early 2021 felt it was a good time to take it seriously. My kids were no longer tiny and as needy (helping with recovery), I was done having children and working from home during the pandemic anyways. I did a ton of research before even reaching out to Dr. Gelfant so felt I had a good understanding of potential risks, the surgery itself and implants etc. before the initial consultation. That being said, he did a wonderful job of explaining it all at the consult and answering my additional questions/concerns. I can’t recall the timelines exactly but I believe I was offered a consult within a month from my initial reach out. My consult was in early March and my surgery was in late June. I was offered earlier surgery options but for personal reasons, the later one worked better.
I have slight asymmetry due to to scoliosis and Dr. Gelfant from the beginning (and at multiple times throughout the entire process) was very honest in setting expectations about results. I felt Dr. Gelfant really follows your cues and desires and helps set realistic and safe goals around them. His staff are wonderful - both Kristy & Jessie created a warm and safe atmosphere in the clinic and were incredibly responsive to my emails. I tried on sizers at the office and made my own at home and decided on 325 cc’s as I was much more concerned of going too big than too small. I was agonising over 25cc which Dr. Gelfant assured me wouldn’t make a noticeable difference - he was right!
Surgery day was a breeze - the worst part was not eating all day! I was in and out fairly quickly. The pain meds made me feel really off so after day 2, I no longer took them and was able to control the pain with advil/tylenol. I spent two nights at my parents house away from my kids which I would highly recommend if you have little ones. At no point was I in pain, just discomfort and limited mobility which was more annoying than anything. My surgery was on a Tuesday and I was back to work the following Monday. I had to wear the breast band for a week which was really uncomfortable so I was thrilled when he gave me the green light to ditch it. My instructions were to go braless as much as possible to encourage my breasts to drop. I was aware they would look pretty crazy at first (they did!) but every day they looked and felt better and that was reassuring. I’m now 6 months post op and can’t believe how natural they look and feel despite starting with absolutely no natural breast tissue. The only time I really feel they are “fake” is sleeping on my stomach (a soft pillow helps this!). I’m really happy with my size - I feel they are discrete in clothing but can be “dressed up” with a padded bra if needed.
I haven’t had any post op pain or complications at this point so far! My scars are still quite red but much flatter and continue to improve each month. Overall, I’m absolutely thrilled with my decision to get a breast augmentation and my experience with Dr. Gelfant and his wonderful team. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him, particularly for those individuals who aren’t starting with much and looking for a natural result!
