Allergan Possible Cause for Autoimmune Disease

$5,500
Let me just say that my surgeon was phenomenal. I had a wonderful experience and recovery process, however, I have reason to believe my boobs are now making me sick! Last year I developed joint pain and swelling all over my body. I later found out that I now have an autoimmune disease. Tons of other women are now experiencing the same thing! Upon doing more research I found out that the breast implants I got are banned in France but they are still using them in the U.S ! Proceed with caution ladies! I’m currently looking to have mines removed

I’m so sorry you are experiencing that!!! Thank you for posting. Does that mean when the implant is gone, the disease will disappear as well? Health is #1! Keep the update coming if you’re able to. Xo.
They look amazing!... but Wow, thanks for sharing the warning.
I hope you recover well.
Hello! May I ask what kind of implant you got and what were your symptoms? Ever since I got mine I have been feeling so different
I am so sorry you are going through this. I was just wondering today what is the difference between Mentor and Alergan implants. I am on my 3rd set of implants. I'll be 70 in May. My first were at 19 yrs old the 2nd set at 23 yr. I was told nothing by my PS except if would not affect my ability to nurse a baby (never had a chance), I have had complications with all 3 surgeries. My last were put under the muscle (I swear I was not told this) the previous 2 were above. I didn't know who made them, I knew nothing about projection and on and on. being so young and without internet one put ones self in the PS the family DR. recommended. My 3rd set were jellies and I picked those because the the 1973 set were leaking. They are 400 mentors and the L. one lives in my armpit as soon as I recline and is a full size different than the r. side.. I swear you could land a plane on my chest my breast are soooo far apart. They are however the only ones that didn't capsulate so they are soft but have different area codes with size and placement. I am sure if there are health issues the company would pay for you to have them replaced with something safer. Some women just can't tolerate them and they kick up autoimmune like symptoms. Please forgive me for my rant but being on the receiving end on the 3rd surgeon who dropped me like a hot pototoe once he had his payment I feel a bit screwed.as he refused to tell me what went wrong or give me any info. I pray your PS is different and I want to thank you for educating us with your experience and I pray your issues will resolve with their replacement or removal. Dr. Terry Dubow spoke about breast implant illness on a recent show of "Botched".
Hi. Sorry I misspelled . It is Terry Dubrow who does the show with another renowned surgeon Called "BOTCHED" All they do is fix other PS screw ups and I have learned more watching that show that I ever did from the doctors who worked on me. Again I wish you a resolution to your problems that satifies you and improves your health.

Autoimmune disease after breast augmentation?

Just last year in March I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease and I have reason to believe that my breast implants are the reason for this. I have reached out to a few other women who have been experiencing the same thing. Currently seeking an explant :(

omg im so sorry this is terrible
I am 68 yrs old & am thinking of augmentation! I have been reading numerous posts & find some are positives & others are not!! The last thing I want is negative results from my implants! I am presently a large B & small C. They have remained relatively firm for my age, possibly because of their size. I have also breast fed 3 children. Just lucky I guess, I have always wanted a large D to DD cup! Is it worth all that you appear to be going through?? My heart to all of you, help me decide! Thanks...
Hi, I'm close in age , almost 70 and debating whether to go thru a 4th surgery. I left a rant of sorts above and I am so unhappy with the last ones I had putt in in 2008. Due to a silicone leak that showed on MRI I had a rushed surgery. My surgeon thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I had many problems and endless phone calls with the office. My husband passed away just a week after my surgery (Was staying with my parents to recover cause I had cats and risk of infection). Its now almost a decade later and it is really taking some soul searching whether or not its worth it at this point. I do have other health issues including psoriasis that have really done a number on my self image and confidence and I am wondering if it worth it all. I think if I didn't have any other health issues I'ld go for it but who for. I met and lost my soul mate of 30 years and why am I putting myself through this and for who. I 'm not wanting to remarry or even date. Again, If I were completely healthy and ready to go out and conquer the dating world I would seriously consider it. I think the stats are that breast augmentation has the most complications of all plastic procedures is that is the most popular. I now think the next new must have is a lip lift which I wanted because it makes the face look so young with a short philtrum and the upturned lip I used to have but I have read every review over and over and I think this must be the hardest procedure to recover from.and certainly the longest. You can be up and about after augmentation within a few weeks but the Liplift takes months. I can honestly say that despite the complications of my three augmentations I would do it over again. I was a member of the IBTC and was so flat and teased and humiliated I could not wait to get it done. They were drop dead gorgeous but encapsulated so the looked fabulous and felt like baseballs, second set he left the first capsules he made and put in smaller implants and those above muscle lasted almost 30 years. The ones I have now are under muscle and its very hard to do if you have years of above the muscle implants. Stretching out the pectorals and the balancing act with stretched skin is hard to do. I just wish my surgeon would have leveled with me on why my 3rd surgery went wrong. I was literally Ghosted by the guy. I wish you nothing but the best and happiness with your results. You really sound like a good candidate from what you have written. You will need some help post op for sure. Hugs and take care. PJ
