WORTH IT
I wanted to come in here and say how truly thank I am for this amazing doctor. He is board certified in the United States and Colombia. I’ve done my research and I am glad I chose him as a doctor. I currently day 3 post-op. The hospital and the recovery house are truly caring, attentive and professional. I tried to go through Jazzy The Connect and The Connect Firm; however, I was very disappointed with her service. She barely helped me and made me feel like she was not taking me serious. I decided to email doctors directly myself and I truly am happy I chose Dr. Fernando Ortega. He is extremely professional, very calming throughout the process. Ladies, do your research. Also you do not have to book with a surgical coordinator because all they want is your money. Dr. Fernando Ortega speaks English as well as his personal surgical coordinator. Let me know if you want a detailed review and guide.

Still Recovering at VIP Recovery House
Ladies, this is definitely a long journey and not an easy one. Sorry for the grammatical errors in my last post. I am still swollen and now going on 3 days post-op. I am so thankful for my nurses and happy that I am with my surgery sisters who are all so supportive, sweet and kind.

I’ll post a detailed review on my page and as for pictures, I will post down the line as I am very private and don’t feel comfortable just yet; however, I really do want to help women who are seeking answers as I was in the same confused boat prior to this surgery :)

Finally an Ortega Doll!
Ladies, I really wanted to post a review because I know how difficult and frustrating it can be trying to find the right surgeon especially in another country. If you take the time to read my review, I hope this puts you at ease and have a little piece mind.
My Journey:
I have been longing to do this surgery since I was 13 years old, insecure about my butt, chin. && arms has always been areas I struggled losing weight in. My lowest weight at 22 was around 115 lbs. I always knew and saw myself coming to Colombia for some odd reason even when I was younger. Timing is everything because at 28, I finally made my decision and chose Dr. Fernando Ortega locates in Cali, Colombia.
Research: I’ve been doing so much research over the years and following various surgeons and browsing Instagram looking at other girls to see what my ideal shape and body would look like; however, ladies we all have different body types, muscle form && we must be realistic in our goal. You want to look like your self; however, an enhanced version of you. Some of the girls you see online have done many rounds of lipo which in my opinion is not healthy or safe. You can have a few pictures of your desired body goal; however, Dr. Fernando Ortega will consult with you and explain how he will give you the shape you are looking for.
Surgical Coordinators: I spoke with Jazzy when she had her business name under Bellavita or something like that and during that time in 2015, she was helpful but clearly wanted to get paid for her services. Fast Forward to 2019, she changed her business named to Jazzy the Connect or Connect Firm. When I reached out to her, she lacked support, only emailed me 5-6 quotes and kept saying it’s up to you with who you want to pick as your surgeon. Not very helpful especially for myself, not speaking Spanish nor ever traveling to Colombia to do a BBL. Jazzy emailed me quotes; however, I would email the surgeons she recommended directly myself and got even less prices verses going through her. She wouldn’t answer my calls or messages on Whats App; yet, I would see her go on Instagram live and talk about other things. I appreciate her being very formative about bbl and health; however, I did feel like I wasn’t being taken seriously and you expect me to just pay up front $500-$1000 when your already making me feel like my questions are not answered. On top of that, I found that contacting the surgeons directly was way better and cheaper than her prices which I understand she wants to make money; however, if you not attentive to me in the beginning you are giving me the impression that all you care about is getting paid. Her service is beneficial for women who really need someone by their side and who are willing to spend the extra money to ensure safety, etc. I would have paid for her service if she was more attentive and informative towards me. I messaged her assistant who was very helpful in narrowing down my options which was between Baptista, Burbano && Ortega. Although her assistant mentioned Burbano as being a better choice, what made me choose Ortega was his credentials. He is board certified in the United States && Colombia. He has studied in Turkey for Rhinoplasty and when I messaged his surgical coordinator- Rosangela, she was very helpful, informative and I started to feel like I am making the right choice. Prior to looking for surgeons, I was hopeless, felt like giving up, frustrated, etc. Those feelings went away after speaking with Dr. Ortega and his assistants who explained quotes, prices for the recovery house and the stay in Colombia.
Another Tip: Fill out the questions that the surgeons give you when getting your quote and save them along with your pictures. This cuts down the time of filling out each questionnaire. Anytime I would contact a surgeon, I would introduce myself and send the questionnaire along with pictures as usually all the surgeons ask the same questions. You do not have to do this; however, it cut down the time for me. Also check surgeons credentials, deaths, reviews, etc. Another reason why I chose Dr, Fernando Ortega was his reviews here on Real Self. You can’t always trust Instagram just because of how many followers a surgeon has. Real reviews really matter!
Prices for Surgery && Recovery House:
Everyone has a different body type and the quotes will vary. When it comes to this procedure expect to spend anywhere from $4,000 to $10,000 or more depending on what you want. I decided to do BBL, Chin Lipo && Rhinoplasty which is why my surgery cost more. Please do not ask me for the exact price because Dr. Fernando Ortega will give you a quote and his surgical coordinator will give you detailed prices.
Payment:
A deposit is required for this procedure and you can send the deposit through Western Union. The deposit is not refundable. A portion of your deposit goes towards the Recovery House && a portion goes towards your surgery. Rosangela will give you instructions and details for payments, etc. As I was choosing dates, I was also looking up flights at the same time so make sure you know you are able to take off at least a month with no restrictions and book ahead so the flight is cheaper. I recommend avoiding flights with many stops. My flight only had one stop in Medellin which totaled 5-6 hours for my flight.
Preparing for Surgery && Departure to Colombia:
After you pay for your deposit, you will be emailed a set of instructions on how to prepare for surgery, such as diet, what foods to eat and what foods to avoid, etc. You need to be healthy in order to do this procedure otherwise you are putting your own life at risk which isn’t worth it! If you need to diet, exercise to lose weight in order to be at a healthy BMI and hemoglobin level, please do so! You’re life is not worth risking to make quick poor decisions. I lost 30 pounds before surgery, gave up soda, sugar, unhealthy foods because even if I wasn’t going to do this procedure, I still wanted to lead a healthy lifestyle. Remember, your results will be even more fabulous if you work out and eat healthy and mentally prepare your mind and body for this procedure. Give up the weed, smoking, alcohol because you are only putting yourself at risk. Take women’s multivitamin, Vitamin C && follow the directions on the instructions before surgery which your surgical coordinator will email to you.
What to Pack:
You do not need fancy clothes for this procedure. All you need is a pair of comfortable flip flops, a weeks worth of oversized shirts, shorts or dresses and in terms of medications, you will receive the medications at the doctors office. Never bring street pills such as oxy or perc, because it is not advised by my doctor in America or in Colombia. Consult with your primary doctor when it comes to pain medications and pain medications for the massages. Rosangela will give you a list of additional supplies such as pads, diapers, wipes and soap. Coordinate with her with any questions of additional things you may need.
Arrival to Colombia: I booked with VIP Recovery House and was informed that a driver would pick me up and a nurse would accompany me to all appointments. I never traveled alone and that really put me at ease. I arrived to the recovery house and met Rosangela who is a sweetheart along with the other nurses. I booked a junior private from with a bathroom. Different room types are available, Rosangela will give you the prices and options that are available for the times you will book.
Recovery House: Extremely clean, delicious daily meals and really nice nurses. So glad I chose this Recovery House. There is a pool, movie room, your laundry is washed daily, they have the hyperbaric chambers and the massages. Very convenient. There is an app called Rappi where you can order food, pharmacy, clothes, etc. very convenient when you don’t want to travel around alone which I do not advise unless you speak Spanish and is comfortable doing so.
Consultation with Dr. Ortega:
I met with Dr. Ortega and was given his recommendation as well as what I wanted ideally. I received my booty pillow along with the medications.
Waiting for Surgery: When you arrive to Colombia you are not allowed to have surgery the same day. You must wait 3 days. You will get an examination from your personal doctor a month prior to your procedure and when you arrive to Colombia, you will receive the same tests to make sure your healthy to proceed with this procedure. The doctors offices are very clean as well. Colombia truly is a beautiful country. I also met with the anesthesiologist who offered the “Pain Pump,” which is essentially is an epidural. It cost around $180 which I highly recommend.
Day of Surgery:
As I was getting marked up, I was feeling extremely dizzy as if I wanted to pass out. Dr. Ortega was very sweet and calmed me down and fanned me before going on the table. I sat on the table and the anesthesiologist inserted the needle in my hand and I was out. Woke up hours later in the hospital recovery room and was just super grateful and thankful to god for being alive.
I will update my review and upload pics of the recovery house. I hope this is all helpful ladies.

Did you use a credit card to pay through the Rappi App? What kind of credit card? Do you suggest using a credit card in Colombia?

November 2, 2019
You could use credit or debit and I mainly used my debit card.. what’s gonna happen is when you first use the app, the app will make 2 very small deposits/ or charge to verify it’s a working debit or card card and then you should be able to use it with no problems :) hope this helps!
