Waste of $14,000

ORIGINAL POST

Waste of $14,000

$14,000
I underwent revision surgery with Dr. Soto specifically to correct my left hip asymmetry and reduce the upper buttock “shelf.” These were the primary concerns discussed during my consultation and the reason I chose to undergo a $14,000 revision procedure.

After healing, I did not see meaningful improvement in either area. My left hip asymmetry remained essentially unchanged, and the shelf was still present.

At my first post-operative appointment, I expressed my concerns about my left hip. I was told there was no fat in that area to remove. However, at a later follow-up appointment, Dr. Soto offered to perform an in-office liposuction revision on that same left hip. I found those two responses difficult to reconcile. If there was no fat in that area to treat during surgery, I did not understand why liposuction of that same area was later offered.

I also developed an abdominal contour irregularity near my belly button that was not present before surgery.

Since then, I have consulted with multiple plastic surgeons and have been advised that I will need another surgery to address the same concerns I originally hired Dr. Soto to correct. The practice later offered me a $5,000 settlement, which I declined because it was not even half of what I paid for the surgery, and accepting it would still leave me paying for another corrective procedure myself. In my opinion, my body is now in a worse condition than it was before I underwent this revision surgery. The practice has since informed me that this was their final offer and that they consider the matter closed.

I have attached images so you can see exactly how I was left and the before and after. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I will be happy to respond.

Thank you

Response from Dr. Soto:
We do not agree with this characterization of our care. When patients come to us for revision, we are honest about the limitations created by previous procedures. Further, we stress the vital nature of attending ALL follow-up visits so concerns may be addressed as issues present. We care deeply about patient satisfaction and when appropriate, provide a partial refund to help patients improve their outcome. While we do not feel we deserve a review like this, we still wish its author well.
