1 week update

Disclaimer: In my initial review, I stated my procedure was rescheduled a few times. This was NOT at the hands of Dr Azizi nor his staff. My hemoglobin was very low and my primary care Dr did not clear me until my numbers improved. Also, my Covid results were not in on time which caused the rescheduling a 3rd time.
Day 5 was a great day! I slept better, was more mobile and am doing a lot of things on my own without help. Swelling is down and my massage wasn’t as painful. She was able to get a lot of fluid out.
Day 6 Finally went outside and took a walk. Walking slow but was well needed! However, these knees have seen better days! Be prepared to use your knees for EVERYTHING! Getting up, laying down, sitting up, etc
Day 7 My post of visit and 4th massage. My drain hasn’t been getting to much fluid and the fluid is a lot clearer which supposedly is a good sign. Dr. Azizi had to drain a small pouch of fluid after he removed the drain but said everything is shaping up nicely. He told me he was able to squeeze about 3300cc from this small frame and was able to use about 2000cc (1000cc per side) That’s great! The swelling is going down and the bruises are still pretty visible but all in all, I’m feeling pretty good. I’ll update again next week.

My New CAKES!

I’d first like to start off by saying that the entire process, from the start, with Dr. Azizi has been nothing short of amazing. He was able to schedule me into his already full schedule last minute. Although my procedure was rescheduled three times thereafter, he was very communicative and diligent about Making sure everything went on without a hitch.. Finally after six weeks of rescheduling I was able to have my procedure done on 8/14.
I went to St Francis Hospital that morning around 6 AM. All of the staff was extremely nice and helpful. We sang and danced all the way up until the anesthesia kicked in. When I woke up I was in recovery and I felt like I was Mike Tyson‘s special punching bag. They made sure I was comfortable enough to leave recovery and go to my own room. I got to my own room after a few more shots of pain medication in recovery. I was able to get up by myself As well as use the washroom by myself. The staff all claimed that I was the best patient that they’ve ever had because I was not complaining, I wasn’t having any extreme physical reactions, I wasn’t nauseous, I was tolerating my pain pretty well and I was also in good spirits still laughing and joking. I was ready to go home after a few hours in recovery and once I got home, IT GOT REAL!
I arrived home at about 3:00 PM and the pain meds are still working I decided to take a nap and relax and I woke up at around 7 PM and was in extreme discomfort that I felt and that lasted well into the night.
Day 1 post op: I woke up with tightness and soreness everywhere and I was scheduled for my first massage. That massage was sent by my worse enemy! It hurt so good! I don’t know if I hate massages or if I absolutely love them but they are definitely bitter sweet. I was able to walk around a bit the first day but that night things really started to ache a bit more than normal. I couldn’t sleep and I could not get comfortable. I decided to take some pain meds prescribed by the doctor. So I woke up not in as much pain on day two.
Day 2. I’m moving around better. I am able to get around a little more and I’m more comfortable today than yesterday. I’m still on my antibiotic’s every six hours and I took three pain pills through the course of today to help alleviate some of the discomfort but today is a better day.
Day 3. I’m scheduled for my second massage today definitely not looking forward to it. She was able to get a decent amount of fluid out but it is still very uncomfortable. I switched out my Faja to another one with straps and a zipper it’s a little tighter than the first one hopefully my body adjust to it. Later that night I was extremely uncomfortable I was tight and sore everywhere I could not nap or sleep or rest.
Day 4. The worst day thus far! I woke up in tears! I felt like I had been kicked by 1000 horses. I was in so much pain I couldn’t even eat. Later that day after trying to make myself comfortable I decided to take off my Faja. I had a few indentations from the clasp and where the zipper collapsed a bit. That’s where I was feeling the majority of my discomfort. Once I took it off and showered and changed into another Faja I felt way better! So, note to self: Do not switch out into another faja until I am ready.
