This review is to share my experience in undergoing a male BBL and liposuction at Cosmos Clinic, North Adelaide, Australia.
About me
I am a 41-year-old male who is fit and regularly attend the gym, 4 days per week. For years and well over a decade, I have focused in weight training targeting all my major muscle groups, including my lower body. No matter how hard I trained, I was never able to increase the size of my butt nor loose that stubborn fat around my flanks and lower abdomen.
When I came across the BBL procedure, I began to do my own research and I could not watch enough YouTube videos. The videos and reviews also made me aware of the risks of this procedure, including deaths due fat embolisms during or after procedures. This indeed scared me, however I also came across how the method of the procedure had changed, where the fat was not being placed into the butt muscle, instead on top of the muscle and under the skin.
When I finally decided to make a consult, I reached out to Cosmos Clinic in North Adelaide and met Dr Erfan Rahbar. During the consult, we discussed the procedure and how it was being performed. I also asked questions about the risks and possible complications, Dr Rahbar was upfront with his responses. I sat on the information from the consult for a approx. 10 months and then made the decision to go ahead with it.
Day of surgery
I arrived early in the morning, I was prepped and taken to the theatre to undertake liposuction, followed by the BBL. I was placed under a semi sedation rather than a general anaesthetic. To my surprise, the whole surgery seemed to have taken like minutes, when in fact it had been hours. I do recall asking the doctor whether my fat had abeen taken out and he replied, yes, pointing at the shelf where they had already being placed into syringes. When the surgery was over, I was placed into a compression garment and was ready to go home.
Post surgery
For the first 24 hours, liquid from the liposuction began to drain from my body, not the best experience but manageable. I had setup my spare bed with a mattress liquid proof cover and a washable incontinence pad. This ensured my spare bed remained dry.
From the second day, I began to feel more pain from the areas where fat was extracted and I also began to find it difficult not to be able to sit/sleep on my back. Dr Rahbar had made contact with me and I had commented how I didn’t want to take the pain relief medication, however I was advised to do so. Once I began to take the medication, I was able to manage my pain effectively, however I still found it challenging at night times with sleep and moving around the bed.
As the days passed, I was able to have my first shower and change my compression garments daily. This enabled me to more cleaner. The liquid draining from my body stopped and I was able to do longer walks, twice daily.
For the next six weeks, I continued with not sitting on my bum, sleeping on my sides or stomach, wearing the compression garment and the pain began to subdue.
Outcome of surgery
I am extremely happy with my results and the post care provided by Dr Rahbar and his team at Cosmos Clinic. A big shoutout to Ally (nurse at Cosmos). My stomach is its flattest I can ever recall. My butt looks amazing and often when I am at the gym, and I look at myself at the mirror, I have to pinch myself that the reflection is me.
If anyone is thinking of undertaking this procedure, I recommend undertaking research, enquire with professionals as much as possible and then, make an informed decision. I did not have any complications post surgery and I followed the doctor’s recommendations.
