Signed up for a lipo revision for dents & ended up having a BBL

The dent I wanted to get fixed is actually worse

The main reason I contacted Dr Gonullu was to get the dent which remained from a previous (and equally botched) lipo. Back than the dent was less visible because I had less fat in the outer thigh area. But because Dr Gonullu transferred fat to my thighs but didn’t fill in the actual dent, it looks even deeper now.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened. Your review was tactful and honest. I find the lack of accountability after surgeries to be most concerning…every surgeon has the odd subpar result but the accountability, honesty, ability to listen and process feedback and ultimately work with the client for the best outcome is the true indicator of a good surgeon. My question is who was your first surgeon? I’m looking to book and narrowed it down to a handful. I really appreciate your insight and advice. Thanks, D

Inner thigh regularities

I just received my before pictures from the clinic and I am very sad to see that my inner thighs were perfect before and I will probably have to spend thousands to get them remotely good looking again and I doubt even a thigh lift will be able to fix them. Needless to say I haven't worn a mini skirt or shorts or a swimsuit since my operation with Dr Gonullu in 2021. Please select your doctor very carefully.

Signed Up for a Lipo Revision, Ended Up Having a BBL

First of all, this review isn't about the doctor's support team or the hospital where the surgery is performed - they are all five star: clinic wise staff are very helpful and available and the hospital is top notch. But...
Dr Gonullu is super nice and I have no doubt he is very good at what he is specialised in, which is BBL. However I sought his help for a liposuction revision. You see, a former breast fat graft left me horrible dents on the sides of hips which were used as donor sites. I have always been a straight up straight down kind of gal and after the previous doctor took fat from my already small hips, they disappeared further, with the bonus of ugly dents. In my initial consultation with Dr Gonullu, I was clear that I was only interested in fixing the complications from the first surgery. He said no problem, we will do a scar release and fill in the dents, it might not end up as good as new but for sure there'll be improvement. He also said to balance it out we need to put some fat on the butt, which i was on the fence about. I understand the whole Kardashian look is the trend now and everybody wants to be snatched or thicc or whatever but I grow up in the 90s and that whole aesthetic is not my thing. Not at all. I'm not a 20 something instagramer, I'm a 30-something lawyer and I would take the body of Kate Moss over the Kardashians any day. But I trusted Dr Gonullu would customise the procedure to my tastes and needs. So I ended up having a PAL lipo with renuvion and a BLL, with also additional lipo on my inner thighs.
Fast forward to post-op: when dr Gonullu showed pictures from the operation table, I almost fainted. I had a HUGE butt and hips so wide that my formerly banana shaped body was now a pear - nay, an upside down spoon. I knew that it was swelling and not all the fat would stay but still... But at least the doctor said he put "a little" fat in my dents, so something positive, right? Well, I was too much in pain and had major swelling but I could still feel that the dent on my right side was still there. I was confused but post operation can be magical and everything can fall into place in a few months...
After very painful few months when I had to go through expensive lymphatic drainage massages three times a week and I was constantly ashamed of how I looked with my huge butt and disproportionate hips, things started to look up. The swelling disappeared, the butt and the hips became smaller... only to reveal uneven lipo in my inner thighs and those goddamn dents on my outer thighs still going on strong... What I believe is that there was no scar release performed on the dents - yes, my hips were grafted with fat, which replaced those removed by the initial butcher (sorry, doctor) but as the dents were not release, the fat settled around them, making them appear even more deeper, especially on my right side. As for the inner thighs, the Renuvion worked well and there isn't much loose skin but clearly some areas were over suctioned compared to others.
Overall, I ended up having a run of the mill BBL and not a liposuction revision. The worst part for me was when I contacted Dr Gonullu's team about a revision (second revision I guess), I was told that he thought yes, there were some irregularities but they weren't THAT bad and it wasn't clear how my skin would respond to a revision so it was best to leave things as they are... well there's a lot to unpack in that answer... first, if it wasn't THAT bad initially, I guess I could have lived with my dents as they were even less visible before the operation, yet Dr Gonullu didn't tell me my irregularities didn't require any intervention. Second, if I asked for a major liposuction I would understand the concerns about the response of my skin due to laxity etc but there is only one way my skin could respond to scar release and fat graft: improvement, even if it's so so slight. So it was very disheartening for me to hear the "nah, it's not so bad" response, after i spend a whole year not wearing any shorts and swimsuits and avoiding mirrors. And I doubt Dr Gonullu would like to share my before - after photos as a successful operation on his Instagram, despite what he says he thinks (he for sure knows that no future patient would be ok with that kind of result). I understand revisions are often more difficult and not as lucrative but taking responsibility and offering solutions is what I expected. After I shared with his team that I was going to write a review of my experience, they told me the doctor wanted to have a talk with me to explain the situation better but I don't want to continue with someone who did not take my very valid concerns seriously. (the other professionals I reached out to, by the way, could see at first glance what was wrong and what could be done either with very targeted fat graft or fat equalisation). I also proposed to open a question so that Dr Gonullu could see if his colleagues thought the defects were no-biggie as he said or if they would have different ideas...
Long story short: if you want to have a BBL and want a body like #whateverdoll on Instagram, go for dr Gonullu, you do you... If you want something more nuanced, I say do your research and find a doctor who can provide photos on the specific operation you want to have. Just because a doctor is good at pumping fat into hips, it doesn't mean he's good at pumping it exactly where you need it.
Photos will be uploaded later.

I really appreciate your review.. I was also thinking about going to this doctor due to the natural look I thought he was famous for. Just like you I don't want a big butt, I just want some lipo around my body and inner thighs but now I'm not even sure this is the right doctor for it.
oh no, definitely not the inner thighs... I unfortunately think he approaches his work like a sweatshop - in and out, no matter what the patient wants he has this one body type in mind and just thinks what would be most popular on social media. I think i should upload my pictures, that would discourage many people. And it's not just the lipo results, complications happen, but the fact that he did not even listen to my main concern is a red flag in my opinion. I went there for a lipo revision, I told him the dents from my previous surgery made me very insecure, yet he did not even bother to try to fix them.
Hello! I appreciate you writing such a long review and i can see why you're frustrated. How are you feeling so far? Its almost 1.5 years post surgery? Did the shape become more natural/smaller?
hi, just saw your comment, sorry! well the shape did get more natural but it wasn't what I wanted in the first place so doesn't really help much... i went for the dents, i asked specifically for a liposuction revision and ended up with a BBL. It still makes me mad everyday when i see my thighs, to have my open wishes to be disregarded when i was passed out... Oh and I complained to him about my former breast lift, told him that I wish I never got a fat transfer as I actually preferred them smaller and asked about a revision. And he, wait for it, said we need to put in implants because there was no upper pole fullness. I said I don't care about upper pole fullness, I just want non-saggy boobs and I absolutely did not want a bigger cup size. But he insisted without implants they wouldn't look good (he said "well maybe your cup size would increase by 2 sizes but..."). I'm facepalming so hard now...
