Lipo Left Me with a Lumpy Leg...
I had this procedure about 3 years ago. I was only 20 when I had this surgery and I’m now 23. Although I look better in clothes, I feel less confident in a swimsuit now than I did before. In certain lighting, it is very obvious that I’ve had liposuction. I don’t necessarily regret having this surgery, but I am only half-pleased with the results.
I remember my experience at Mia Aesthetics really well. I flew to Miami from out of state, checked into my hotel, and went to my first appointment the day before my surgery. The appointment was fine. It mainly consisted of going through paperwork and having my pictures taken. I did find it concerning that I wasn’t able to speak with the surgeon, though.
The first time I did see Dr. Alvarez was less than 20 minutes before I went into surgery. Once I met the surgeon and established that I was there for a BBL, my clothes were off and my body was being drawn on. I understand the need for expediency, but he started drawing on my body before I had even communicated what I wanted.
I had lipo to my stomach, inner thighs, and lower back (don’t remember requesting that - or having needed it). Much of the fat was transferred to my hips and butt. Seeing that I’m now 3 years out from the surgery, my current results are likely permanent.
I have a nice flat stomach and I look good in clothes. I think I have a pretty good body, although I had a pretty good body before too.
My major concern is my legs. The liposuction to this area was entirely too aggressive. My right leg (as you can see in the picture) has a bizarre lump on it that causes me great embarrassment. On both legs, there isn't even a thin layer of fat left. This makes bike riding, sex, and other activities uncomfortable sometimes. I refuse to even think about it at this point because it makes me want to cry. I would give anything to have some fat back on my legs.
My secondary concern is the rippling and overall lumpiness of my abdomen. There is also what seems like a “missed part” to the left of my belly button that protrudes a centimeter out.
My third concern is the shelf I have above my butt. It looks like a mountainside being used for terrace farming lol. I didn’t know that I was going to have lipo to my lower back. I barely had any fat there to begin with! Months 0-12 after the BBL, I looked like a skinny french fry with a huge butt. At least the butt has shrunk considerably.
I understand that most of this is my fault. I should have spoken up as Dr. Alvarez was drawing on me. I should have made sure that the lipo to my legs was not too aggressive.
I wonder if my results could be improved with revisional surgery, but I’m not sure that I'm willing to travel all the way back to Miami and trust this surgeon to do that. I’ve tried to contact Dr. Alvarez through a few different outlets and haven’t received a response. I’m at a loss...
