Bbl Uk Under Local Anaesthetic

Sooo gonna make this as brief as possible. I had a bbl with Dr Alshafey nearly 2 months ago. Leading up to it I was always on RealSelf so felt it was only right to give back to other ladies along the way.
So after loads of searching online and attending consultations with doctors across London I decided Dr Alshafey would be my safest bet.
I decided the uk as
I was considerably terrified about the procedure and namely the risk of an embolism happening but due to the way he explained how he performs a bbl the risk would be incredibly low. Plus the procedure was under local anaesthetic which makes it safer.
Pre op I brought all the usual bits to make my post op as comfortable as possible. Stool softeners, sanitary pads for leakage, arnica cream (which you can buy in Sainsbury’s for £3.50), waist clinchers and waist bandage for extra compression, foam, sun lounger chair to allow option to sit (huge FAIL, it was cut too high up which meant butt was on the floor lmaoooo) electric massager, pain relief and a few other bits which I can’t recall right now.
Fast forward to day of surgery and I arrived at the clinic a little before 8am and was greeted by the doctor. Yes as others have mentioned, don’t expect that glossy clinical setting. It’s a pretty basic building, clinic environment and is shared by other businesses so it’s recommended you keep your belongings close to you at all times.
As it was so early I was given the option to wait for Alicja to arrive or start without her, I opted to wait as others mentioned how helpful she was and I was super nervous to begin with. Had the ice packs numb the areas of lipo for the local anaesthetic then waited for it to take effect.
After a few hours dr started the lipo on my waist which was ridiculously painful. (I was thinking of doing my stomach but opted for waist instead.)My body wouldn’t numb the pain and I literally had to grit my teeth to bear the pain while he was liposuctioning my waist. It wasn’t this strange sensation that others describe.... NO. IT HURT LIKE CRAZY!!! Lol
Now I dont have the highest pain threshold but I’m a tough gal. I felt I was given the one of the pain relief medications too late during the surgery and by the time it took real effect I was in recovery (well resting in the room on the bed) I think the meds given so late made me feel super nauseous and dizzy. I was more coherent during the surgery but after I felt completely wasted. The fat transfer wasn’t as bad as expected, I felt the pain during the lipo was much worse.
Later on when I got home I felt terrible. Was sick at least twice during the night and couldn’t eat much the next day. I was in lots of pain but cocodomal pain relief helped lots.
It’s nearly been 2 months and has been a real journey filled with various emotions.
Not sitting has been one of the hardest and frustrating things of all, I’m a stomach sleeper but believe me I’ve been in soooo much pain from sleeping on my stomach. Not to mention how puffy my eyes looked when I would get up although it wears off within a few hours. I am just glad I’ve taken this time off
as I truly couldn’t do it. Dr says not to sit for a week while others say not for 6. I was real good for 4 weeks then started sitting here n there. It does feel mad uncomfortable at first but you get used to it.
Now one thing I’m a little annoyed with is the amount that was injected. I was told beforehand it would be 750cc but on the day Dr Alshafey told me 500cc. Now 750 isn’t a lot in comparison to what those US n DR dolls are getting but 500 kinda felt like a waste of time. But I obviously went through with it and dr explained as we we’re both concerned about embolisms then it’s better to play it safe. I had to respect that although I wasn’t prepared to hear it and felt I should never of been told a different amount.
Now my results. When I came out My hips measured at 43.5, that’s a 2 inch increase. Sadly now I’m down to 42.5 and sometimes fluctuating a teeny bit less. But you can clearly see the difference in my body so far. My waist has been taken in and my hips are more defined. I am pleased with the lipo but I feel more could’ve been taken. I’m no big girl so this job wasn’t a big one for him. There’s still quite a lot of fat on my back and a roll. I feel like I could do with another round to give me more booty as there’s only a small difference but am weighing it up with how damm inconvenient this is along with the SCARRING. Botty greed is real but I’m not sure if I’m cut out for this again...
Im just hoping I don’t lose anymore on my booty as it’s still early days yet.
About 5 weeks in I started to experience severe pain in my hip and butt which the dr thought was fat necrosis. Although inside I was bricking it I wasn’t gonna let this happen. I literally massaged like crazy to soften up the fat and eventually it has nearly all dissolved. It was a scary time as I’ve seen some horrible photos of women with huge abscesses post fat transfer. Dr did offer for me to go to the Chichester clinic for him to see it and possibly drain it but thankfully it turned out okay.
I’ve had a lymphatic drainage massages which hurt like hell. (I’d advise not to do it in the first week) Dr doesn’t recommend them for waist but I thought it would help the process and avoid lumps and fibrosis. I did them about once a week for 6 weeks. I do massage my waist each day by hand and my electric massager. I have a few lumps here and there but it’s quite normal at this stage. You are super lumpy up to about 4 weeks after procedure then it kinda smooths out which is good.
Now one thing I’m not pleased with is the scarring. I find other surgeons don’t use such big cannulas but if you notice anyone that has lipo with this dr ends up with HUGE scars. So no more high fitted bikini bottoms or thongs on the beach as my skin doesn’t heal well to begin with. Plus the biggest scars are above your bottom and isn’t even from the transfer. It’s from the lipo.
That’s my one biggest gripe about this. I’m hoping scar gel and scar sheets will help to lesson the marks so fingers crossed. I have 10 incision altogether but 6 very dark obvious ones. I’ll keep you updated.
Would I recommend him?? Depends, if you scar well or don’t mind scars near your booty, don’t have overly ambitious expectations then yes he’s ya man. It’s unlikely you’ll have life changing body but the tweek can be a huge confidence boost. Plus your in the uk and don’t have to worry about dealing with non English speaking nurses and drs which would drive me crazy. Alicja and the dr are kind and tries her best to make you comfortable.
If there’s anything you want me to fill you in on then let me know
