2-3.5 week post op
Hey all! So I’ve had two lymphatic massages and am continuing to drink a lot of water and massage like crazy when I can. Swelling is going down and I am so pleased with the results so far. Volume went down a bit which I expected but I am still very happy with how things are coming a lot. Be patient!! Results are going to take time. I’m hoping I don’t lose any more volume in my butt but I am looking forward to all the swelling going down in the areas that I had lipo. Bruising is diminishing. No pain. Just some tightness and a few zingers here and there (nerves doing their thing). Slowly but surely things are coming along. I get so excited to take my garment off for the hour each day to shower and try on regular clothes! It’s super motivating. I’ll post more after my one month follow up appointment!!
From Day 4 - Two Week Post Op
Hey ladies! I wanted to give you a rundown of what’s been happening. When they say that the recovery is a journey…they aren’t lying! I have been through a roller coaster of emotions since the recovery process begin. Okay so:
Day 4/5 were ROUGH for me. I was still getting faint when taking my garment off or having a bowel movement. I was not sleeping well either. I felt like a zombie. I ate a juicy steak for dinner on Day 5 and also had a cup of coffee (which I don’t usually have) and felt so much better! I’m assuming my iron levels were low and that juicy steak helped get me in order. So ladies: nourish yourselves properly! Hydrate! After that I started to get the hang of everything. My swelling got crazy and so did my bruising for the next couple days. I also started getting like a pinching/burning sensation in my lower right pelvic area. I couldn’t figure out if it was just from the swelling or nerves or maybe the seam from my garment rubbing on me. Either way, it was super irritated. Went in for my one week check up and met with Griffon the PA. She was amazing. Answered all my questions and after telling her I was still draining like 35/40ml a day, she said I would have to keep my drain in for another week. I was bummed because it was starting to get agitated but I know the draining is important! Scheduled my smoothshapes massage for the following week. Between my one week check up and two week massage appointment, I was able to finally get more than four consecutive hours of sleep. I tried EVERYTHING you could think of. From the pillows to the pull the couch apart to all kinds of stomach sleeping pillows. Nothing was comfortable and my neck and back was so tight. I finally ended up buying a pregnancy C shaped pillow and rolled it up like a loose cinnamon roll and used that to lay on. It supported my hips, tummy and my shoulders without squashing my boobs and I use a regular pillow at an angle to sleep. I wake up with a swollen face but hey! It’s better than no sleep at all! I was worried about my tummy tuck incision when laying on my belly at first but realized that I didn’t feel any real pain when doing so…so I just remained on my belly to sleep. My swelling on the lower half of my abdomen was wild crazy. Also during this time, my drain got super tender to the touch. I could strip it and drain it and all but it would keep getting caught on the zipper portion of my garment. I was also leaking a bit at the site so I put a pad in my garment to kinda cushion it and soak of the fluids. It made it uncomfortable to walk or really do anything. So, the day of my massage came on my two weeks post op date and I was EXCITED to get that drain OUT! I went to the Amachi MedSpa that’s attached to Georgia Plastic. Cameo and Daisy were my estheticians. I think Daisy was training and Cameo was the senior and overseeing but that’s just me assuming. They were both so kind and personable. The massage didn’t hurt. It was uncomfortable at times but it was bearable. It felt like a vacuum attachment sucking on my skin lol. Daisy would ask me questions when the suction was more aggressive and that would kinda distract me from focusing on it. Both Daisy and Cameo gave me tips about how to help myself during the recovery process and we made small talk. Not too much and not too little so overall it was a very nice experience. At the end of the massage, they prepped me to have the drain removed. I was most nervous about this because I knew how tender I was. She nipped the stitch which hurt because I think I had some skin attached somewhere. Not sure why it hurt but it made me do a baby yelp lol. Then she told me to count to three and take deep breaths and then on three she pulled the drain out. Y’all. That thing was just…woah. I was not prepared. But Cameo was quick and it hurt and then was over. HOWEVER. When she took the drain out, soooooo much fluid came rushing out. It was like my water broke when giving birth. It was a insane amount. I got a little jittery from the adrenaline from everything and they stood my up so I could finish leaking. They massaged me until I stopped leaking and kept putting those puppy pads down to catch everything. I was so embarrassed and also lowkey concerned because wow. I was not expecting all of that to come out. They explained that I probably had a blockage in my drain and so fluid was just building up in there. I felt so much relief afterwards though. My swelling went down a bunch and it explains why. That day I felt sore like I worked out hard or got into a fight, but it was soooo nice to have no drain! My lower right abdomen where I have had the most discomfort during the recovery process felt like I had some sloshing bubbles inside and I had the weirdest heavy feeling that evening when I went to shower that evening. I messaged the PA’s and I’m going in tomorrow to be seen at 2pm to make sure everything is all good (aka not a seroma). I prayed and prayed over myself last night for complete healing IF there was indeed any infection or anything going on. So that’s where I’m at! I’m drinking 2-3 liters if water a day still. Wearing my garment, binder (they give it to you at your one week checkup) and foams religiously. My compression socks are my best friends. I’m walking a lot and doing life with as much ease as I can maintain. My bruising is going away and my swelling in slowly easing up and I’m starting to see my shape! Butt volume went down a bit but still looking good. I’ll keep y’all posted!

My experience
Hi Ladies! Whew. It’s been a whirlwind. I’m two days post op and feeling more like myself so I wanted to jump on here and give an update.
I arrived for my procedure early Monday morning. Got me prepped for surgery and met with Dr Okoro so he could mark me up. I told him I wanted a nice hourglass shape and as juicy as he could get for my butt! Keep in mind I did upper and lower abdominal lipo, full waist, BBL and a mini tuck. I go back next fall to have my upper back and bra area lipo and my boobs done. Anywho. After that I met with the anesthesiologist and it was wrap. Next thing I knew I was waking up. Waaaay groggy and waaaaaaay nauseous. Anesthesia always makes me feel horrible after waking. My husband picked me up and I remember army crawling into the back of the car. He took us to the hotel and I was just throwing up like crazy. I was so dizzy and out of it. I laid down and then my nurse arrived. Ladies. GET THE NURSE! If you can afford it: DO IT. My husband is amazing but he would not have been equipped to care for me the way the nurse did. I used Saralin Healthcare. Miss Alphie looked after me the first few hours and then Linda came shortly after that. She stayed overnight with me until 8am. She made sure I drank lots of fluids and walked every couple hours. She was so patient and helpful and kept an eye on my vitals through the entire night. Any time I moved, she was there to make sure I was okay. She was AWESOME and I highly recommend her services. The first night was rough. I was dizzy and couldn’t walk far at all. I didn’t have much energy. I didn’t want to take the hydrocodone because I was so paranoid about getting constipated. I did end up taking ibuprofen and one of the promethazine for nausea. I drank an 8oz coconut water every time I got up to walk. I sipped beef bone broth from a mug a few times and had a few oyster crackers. The female urinal is a MUST. It took me a minute to figure it out but once you get it…it’s a winner. I didn’t sleep much but got a good hour in near the early morning. Linda made sure I ate some oatmeal for breakfast and a banana. She left at 8am and my hubby took over from there. We went to my post op appointment and met with Scarlett and one other young lady. They young woman took my garment off and took pictures (which is what I posted). I am suuuuuper swollen. But I see some shape forming so I’m excited. I don’t have high expectations the first few weeks because I know the swelling is going to be nuts. I got super light headed and hot about ten minutes after they my took my garment off and had to lay down. Scarlett came in and talked through post op rules with me and hubby. They had a little handheld fan going to help me cool down. After awhile the young woman came back and helped me get back into my garment and dressed. We left and headed back to the hotel. I laid down after that because I was so tired. My husband ran out and got some Tylenol and stool softener which I took alongside my ibuprofen when he got back. Linda came back around 5pm to help me shower and to show my hubby what he should do for that. She got my garment back on and socks and dressed. Got me a little bite to eat and cleaned up the room. Then she left. I continued to walk and drink a ton throughout the night and was able to get more sound naps in. Hydrate hydrate hydrate and walk walk walk!! In the morning I injected my Blood thinner shot (which you do in your thigh for ten days so be prepared for that. It stings but is necessary!) and ate a few crackers and laid back down. When I got up I felt like I needed to make a bowel movement so hubby helped me get undressed and I straddled the toliet and gave it a go. I had success without much straining and it was soft! Thank God!! (I only did liquid diet on the day before my surgery btw). After that hubby helped me shower. When I got out of the shower I got super light headed. Saw stars. Ears got muffled and things started to go black. I knew I was about to faint so we got to the bed and he fanned me and gave water and I hunched over and tried to breathe and get blood to my head. It was scary for sure but we made it. I think my husband was traumatized though and was ready to call the nurse back to come help. I laid down after that and have been taking it easy the rest of the day. I ate some chicken and salad and some soup. Been drinking tons of Water. I’m trying to find the most comfortable way to sleep but it seems impossible. So far I sleep with a pillow under my hips and one under the corner of my head on my belly. I’m noticing the swelling is going down more and I know if I continue to rest, hydrate and walk that it will get better with each day! It’s been tough for sure but just make sure you have a good support system. Like seriously. You will need it. I’ll post another update with pics after my week post op appointment!!
