BBL Disaster W/Chang

Last year I made a huge decision to start searching for a plastic surgeon for a BLL. I did so much research and came across Spectrum Aesthtics and Doctor Oliver Chang. Unfortunately, i looked past the red flags i got from the offices and all the reviews i read. I would email them or call and never get a response. Plenty of times i had to threaten to cancel my surgery to get a response. This office is completely under staffed and unorganized. Anyways. My surgery was June 29th and shortly after i started having some symptoms; fevers, lack of appetite, rapid heart rate and greenish discharge from incision sites. I flew back to Miami to have him see me. The entire time i would explain my symptoms he would cut me off and just brushed it off. He put a needle in the incision and saw the discharge. He prescribed me antibiotics. After i finished them i reached back out to the post op department because i was still having the same symptoms. He just kept prescribing me more antibiotics. This eventually let to me getting CDIFF.
At this point i had ran a fever every day for over 2 months straight. I was barely able to walk, lost nearly 50 lbs in a few short months and I ended up going to the ER and they admitted me into the ICU due to sepsis, AKA blood poisoning. Obviously i racked up almost 100k in hospital bills because i had stayed in the hospital weeks before they were able to discharge me. My butt ended up having so much infection that there are spots that were bruises at first but then ruptured and left huge holes and now are scars. In addition to the huge scars my cheeks are no where near the same size. Due to this i only asked for a refund. I recurved a crappy apology and pretty much stating that the contract signed states “very clearly” that this could happen and nothing they could do. I wanted to warn other that are considering Chang and this practice ! I beg you to reconsider

Definitely do your research and ask questions ! Ask what your options are if you don’t like your results.

Hope you get better and end up getting what you wanted down the road ! Also, how are you going to manage to pay 100k? That’s too damn much

I was just about to put my deposit down for Chang. I have been following Spectrum for years. I was going to go with Ortega, but then Chang arrived and his work won me over. Thank you so much for sharing your photos and experience because while I’ve heard bad things about the clinic staff’s customer service, I didn’t know Chang was botching people.

mrsB - It does not appear Chang is board-certified in PLASTIC SURGERY. A huge red flag. Also, Spectrum has had one or more reported deaths. I would RUN - not walk - away.

I’m aware of the death related to the other Dr. O, I believe? Chang is board certified in general surgery and did his fellowship in plastic surgery. I trust his credentials, however, I am rethinking him as my doctor. I do believe that most doctors will have surgeries go left and how they handle it speaks volumes. Their response to her was not satisfactory at all, imo.

There's been at least one (maybe more) at Spectrum (more at Jolie - read the USA Today article about Jolie - it's scary). Good luck with whatever you decide!!
