Botox is a Posion You WILL REGRET

Over a year and a half out

$500
And still experiencing some side effects. I can't really do cardio without a relapse. I still can't have caffeine. I can thankfully have some alcohol. I worry this did permanent damage to my liver and kidneys. I have had a lot more problems with them in the past year.
Now, I am also noticing some small dents in the muscle where the injections were. So my forehead is bumpy now.
All from a few units of botox in my forehead. What a dumb reason to ruin my health.
Would still not recommend.

I was extremely fortunate to meet a lovely girl on here and although we both live on the other side of the world we are always there for each other to give moral support and it has helped us both enormously. We are both just post of a year and both still living this nightmare and same symptoms.we have also thought on a couple of occasions hat we had almost beaten it but then it reared Ursula head again. Only time along with plenty of water and rest seems to help right now. I actually couldn't work for almost 6 months and even now it is a struggle to getup and face the day. We are both better since we were a the 6 month mark but still a way to o I fear. If you are lucky to make a friend it really does help. I hope and pray hat we all eventually have peace and that his awful toxin leaves our bodies soon xx
I'm so sorry for your experience but I hope you find some solace in knowing your story has kept others from this *treatment*. I'm almost 44 with pretty understated lines for my age but periodically I consider starting botox treatments. What has always put me off is that it can cross the blood-brain barrier and as a writer, I need my brain to work as well as it can. So I really need to read stories like yours to remind myself that it isn't worth it. I hope your wedding was happy regardless.

Update: 6 Months Post Botox

Just wanted to follow up on this on going nightmare.

Unfortunately, it’s been 6 months without full recovery. I have been religiously seeing doctors, nuerologists, and auto immune specialists who cannot find any other explanation than systemic botulism.

I am thankful I have healed a bit in some ways, but I still suffer from headaches, intolerance to any systemic chemicals (caffeine, advil, alcohol, etc). Roaming numbness in my body, and some brain fog and dizziness— especially if I don’t get a FULL 8 hours of sleep and 60+ oz of water a day. Heart palpitations, lethargy, and general muscle weakness are also lingering, albiet improving. My newest issues are unfortunately more cosmetic- brittle nails, dry skin, and hair loss.

It’s a constant struggle, but I’m fighting hard to get back to my previous self. This has absolutely negatively impacted my relationships, my work performance, and my general happiness in life. And my wrinkles are back. Sooooo not not worth it.

Feel free to ask any questions at all!

For those reading who are experiencing the same issues, this is what has seemed to help me (not a dr):
- chelated copper (1/2 capsule once a day)
- activated charcoal (1-2 capsules every day during severe episodes), then 1x-2x a week
- celery juice, cucumber juice, lemon etc. juices in general seem to help pick me up in the morning and have replaced my coffee habit
- probiotic yogurt- i really like the white mountain variety.
- a refrigerated jade roller to help soothe nerves in my face and neck and reduce severity of headaches.
- half a daily vitamin (more than half is too much vitamin B and I react terribly- rhos never happened before Botox)
- extra vitamin D
- tooooooons of water!

These things may not be for everyone, but they are the only things I’ve found to give some relief since there’s literally nothing else I can do or take right now.

Jgra, I’m sad to read you still aren’t feeling great after 6 months. It’s so unpredictable and impossible to live with. I agree with the water intake, I feel like it helps on the days I’m able to drink lots of water but it’s hard to manage that sometimes. Unfortunately the majority of recovery is down to ‘time’ it seems. But you must have gotten through the worst of it being 6 months in now. It’s not an easy road to tread even after the 6 month mark but little by little it becomes more manageable. Thanks for updating us and for your tips! I’ve been doing celery juice every morning and I find it gives me a little more energy and better digestion.
Have you been able to work throughout this 6 month period?
Hey there!!! Hope you are well. Another support group Im in for Botox poisoning has been thinking of you, as well.

Agreed- I definitely feel like I’m moving past the worst of it, but it’s definitely not easy! The first month I took a few sick days, but was luckily at a place in my projects where I had a very low impact role and was able to pretend to function in those days. Then in the following weeks I had two weeks PTO saved up and was able to rest a bit then. A week in December for the holidays also really helped. I’m hoping once it’s a little warmer where I live I can take another week to rest and soak up some sunshine. Those really seem to be the moments I make the most progress in healing so really look forward to them.

Wishing you the best.
May I ask which support group it is? Apparently there are a few on Facebook. Wow for you to have had to work through your symptoms would have been so difficult! You poor thing, but it shows your strength and resilience :) I hope the sun does help you to heal, we’re just about to come to the end of summer here is Australia, I must say it’s nice to soak up the sun but it also tires me out and I’m already dealing with the bad fatigue lol so I look forward to cooler days. I truly hope your recovery comes swiftly from here. Whenever it feels hopeless just remember how bad you felt 6 month ago and how you will feel so much better in the next 6 months :) it’s a tough road but we are all here for support :)
❤️ your posts have really helped me through this and mean a lot to I’m sure many more!!

Yes, the group is on facebook. I think some of the members have reached out to you. Between some members on here and there, it’s just a huge relief to not feel like I’m going crazy or that I’m not alone in this struggle! Obviously I would never wish this pain on my worst enemy, but i’m sure you can relate to no one real life actually being able to understand or truly empathize with what we have been through!!

Botox is a Posion You WILL REGRET

An utter nightmare. 3 weeks of anxiety, pain, brain fog, weakness, and more. Every horrible symptom you can imagine. Botox is an evil, horrible, poison and you would be better off moisturizing or doing regular facials. This has ruined one of the most important months of my life. I was up for a promotion and getting married next month, now I don't know if I will even be able to be happy at my own wedding. I can't drink coffee, alcohol, or even a soda without violently shaking. I cry every day. Before Botox, I was a happy, normal, healthy 29 year old woman. Now I feel like a shell of my former self.

Jgra, I’m so sorry you are going through this and I’m so sorry my review scared you :( when this all started for me all the stories I was reading online almost pushed me over the edge, it was all very terrifying. But I want you to know there are a lot of people who recover quickly from Botox poisoning. Some people do only feel like crap for a few weeks or a few months, please don’t think that you’re going to be the worst case scenario. Many of us on this website turn to each other for support and advice or tips to get through this because we have nowhere else to turn. The best advice I can give you is to stay away from things that exacerbate your symptoms. Personally I don’t drink coffee much (even before the Botox) and don’t drink any alcohol, if you feel it’s making you feel worse try to steer clear just for now and drink AS MUCH water as you can fit in the day, flush everything out. Have you had Botox before?
Thank you.

No, this was my first time. :(

Agreed, have been non stop drinking water, Ive had uncontrollable thirst since this happened.

The latest weird symptom ive had is numbness / soreness under my jaw : tounge? The feeling like I’ve been wearing a helmet all day and the strap has been digging into it? So many of these symptoms don’t feel life threatening but are so uncomfortable!
Yes I know, and a lot of symptoms might come and go randomly. I’ve had the weirdest [RS bleep] happen to me, weird feelings, weird pains in random places or unusual issues, it’s very scary to begin with. The good thing is that you’ve recognised what is causing all this very early, a lot of us had no idea our symptoms were related to Botox until much later. Nobody really has a definitive answer to how to resolve Botox poisoning but you can find lots of info on this website and things on my thread people and myself have tried that could possibly help you clear this out of your system. Please reach out if you need to talk :)
Jgra how have you been feeling the last few days?
Hey thanks for all your support and follow up :) It's really sweet.

This week I've felt a lot better, my dopamine levels feel closer to normal- my mood has improved dramatically. The symptoms themselves have also calmed down quite a bit; more of an appetite, less headaches / brain fog, less heart palpitations / racing, less anxiety, barely any digestive issues, and not as much numbness. That said, I'm still feeling traces of most of those things, and still can't handle any alcohol, caffeine, or super late nights without feeling relapses of the symptoms (especially dizziness / fog / weakness / heart issues). I'm anxiously awaiting next week as I'm due to start my period and have read of a bunch of you experienced relapses during this time, but overall, things are looking much better. Just hoping things keep moving forward. Some days feel like a plateau, but over the past month I can definitely see improvements!

I hope you are starting to feel better as well, sweet soul.
