Panniculectomy -

I had no pain at all...

WORTH IT
I had no pain at all. I stop pain meds after a three day as were
making sick. I took Aleve. My doctor said I would be out of work for
two weeks but my incision kept opening so I was out for a month. My job
was very accommodating. I'll be sure to upload picks. The opening is usually where fluid builds up. They had to take my drain
out after a week even though my right side still had a lot of fluid
drain. My surgeon said the fluid needed to find a why out and that was
the weakest spot ( Better out then have it stay in) They gave me
bacitracin and compression pads with tape and I was good to go and to
eat more protein. I did wear a compression garment. I received two
from the surgeons office and I bought one at a medical supply store. I
wore it everyday for a three months.

I am interested in seeing Dr. Orgill. How is the after care by his staff? Does he provide information in terms of scar treatment? Compression garment? Thanks.
The scar healed were you can barely see a line. He supplies the compression garment after the surgery. In doing my research I read that Dr. Orgill's research is in wound healing which I like because I'm a women of color and was afraid of keloids which I don't have and I don't have dog ears. He's and his staff is always available if you have any questions. He make made me so comfortable. Best to you.
Thank you for the reply. It is good to hear. I need a revision of my tummy tuck. I want a kind surgeon.
Btw, Dr. Orgill is one of the best plastic surgeons listed in Boston Magazine in 2013. :D
I need a vertical incision TT done and I plan on going back to him. Saving money. Hoping to do it summer 2015.
I would totally agree.
Oh, that is what I want. Fleur de lis TT or a lower body lift. I am leaning towards fleur de lis TT because I like having a waist line and don't care about the scar. Or a lower body lift with a vertical component. Take a look at my profile, it is an entertaining read.
I need a panniculectomy done. No muscle repair, just the extra skin and fat cells. But I'm sooo scared. Were you in pain as soon as you woke up?

Had a panniculectomy done. Insurance paid ( thank you Jesus) for it since I developed a rash from the extra skin rubbing on my apron and thigh and vaginal area. Spent two days in the hospital. Healing was so but the surgery was so worth it. It has motivated me to exercise more. Feel like a band new person.

Congratulations on the weight loss and going through with the surgery. Im glad your happy with your results. Thanks for sharing
Thanks BabyRhino! The next step is a vertical tummy tuck.
Im having a lower body lift, amongst other things, one week from today! How soon will you be having your tummy tuck?
Since I'll be paying for this on my own. I'm praying for it to happen next year.
Next week is great! Keep me posted. I'd love to see your result. Best to you!
Welcome and thanks for sharing your experience with us.

How did you find the recovery period? Was there much pain and downtime? We'd love to see a before/after photo, if you have any you feel comfortable sharing.
Hi Kristy-- I had no pain at all. I stop pain meds after a three day as were making sick. I took Aleve. My doctor said I would be out of work for two weeks but my incision kept opening so I was out for a month. My job was very accommodating. I'll be sure to upload picks.
Wow, no pain at all sounds like the best possible scenario. I'll be needing this type of surgery myself and I think one of my fears is the wound opening. Was it opening for any specific reason, that you know of?
The opening is usually where fluid builds up. They had to take my drain out after a week even though my right side still had a lot of fluid drain. My surgeon said the fluid needed to find a why out and that was the weakest spot ( Better out then have it stay in) They gave me bacitracin and compression pads with tape and I was good to go and to eat more protein. Thanks for the information, it's invaluable! Looking forward to seeing your before/after photos!
