*My top lip was very thin. I tried filler numerous times but filler NEVER gave my top lip any definition. I decided to have a fat transfer to my lips.
*The fat was removed by liposuction on the side of my thigh.

I was awake and it wasn’t painful. I was completely numb and I couldn’t feel anything. If I closed my eyes, I wouldn’t have known I was having anything done to my face. The numbing medication used for the procedure started to wear off (post op) in the evening.
PAIN (post procedure):
Overall, I took the pain medication prescribed twice: the first night and the day after the procedure. The medicine used to numb my face during the procedure wore off the next day.
~*First day post procedure: I woke up very sore. On a scale of one to ten, (ten being the worst pain ever), the pain was about 5.
Overall, it wasn’t painful, the most annoying thing was feeling the scar heal.
This is “RealSelf” and I am going to be completely honest when I say the scar was an annoyingly itchy feeling. The scar is on the inside of my nose but I can’t find the scar now. No on has ever noticed it.
~*The Fat Transfer to my face was not painful because I was numb. The liposuction was done on the side of my thigh and it didn’t hurt. I didn’t have a lot of fat then so that was the only area that I could find any.
I don’t know if there is a preferred or better area to remove fat this procedure.

I decided to get a Lip Lift with a Fat Transfer....
I decided to get a Lip Lift with a Fat Transfer. It was done in office, by Dr. George Volpe, a Plastic Surgeon, and was well worth it. I didn't need another lip injection for years after I had it done.... I would recommend it because the lip lift is permanent and the scar is hidden in my nose. It didn't hurt, I was awake, and I went home after it was done. It took a little over an hour, maybe 2 hours, (it was in 2003 so I don't remember how long exactly). Dr. Volpe walked me through the process while he did the procedure and did an amazing job!
