  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

Update

It is now almost ten weeks since my first implant procedure, and the muscle and especially nerve damage that was done remains and is very likely permanent I've not posted the surgeon's name as I'm still considering my options.

I had a failed implant procedure that resulted in muscle and nerve damage, as well as a very asymmetrical appearance. The surgeon told me he ran into complications and left the implant in to "preserve the pocket" and referred me to another surgeon. Three weeks later I had the procedure repeated by another surgeon who removed the first implant (and noted that it was "buckled" on one side) and inserted a new one. The muscle and nerve damage remain (complete numbness on the center and one side of the chin, and a "crooked" smile). At first I was told I could be "95% certain" of a complete recovery. Yesterday I was told that "things happen" with surgery and it may not return to normal. The first surgeon is well-known and well-regarded. I've read many doctor comments here seeking to allay the concerns of patients. That's fine, but don't underestimate the real risks. I learned the hard way.
