I should have posted this earlier. It has been a long road.

Chloe, can you come back and update your review with some content? Some information on your surgery and recovery would be so helpful.

Thank you for sharing on RealSelf!

You looked absolutely perfect before. This is what people strive for when they ask for surgery. You already had everything we all want. I'm so sorry this happened to you. What a breach of trust.
June 3, 2015
yes I was thinking this -- kind of looks like Amy Smart, who modelled before acting. The trying to smile does look painful.

Chloe - you are so very beautiful despite what changes were made to your face. NEVER forget that!! You were lovely before and are still very beautiful. Thank you for being so brave and for sharing your experience so that other women wont have to go through what you did. xoxo

It's horrifying to think that a surgeon would arbitrarily choose to do procedures on a patient that were not specifically authorized in advance. You might want to think about getting copies of the consent you signed and your operative reports and consulting an experienced malpractice attorney.

Three years post op implants with Dr. Yaremchuk

Chloe44
I'm updating my profile.
I had cheek implant surgery with Dr. Yaremchuk in 2011 and got MUCH more than I bargained for.
I got implants around my eyes, in my temples, under my eyes, malars, para nasals and sub malars.
I had two revision surgeries with Dr. Yaremchuk after his initial surgery and I have had two revisions with Dr. Guyuron in Cleveland. Each time it has been an attempt to remove (but ends up just being a reduction) of the implants. Dr. Yaremchuk uses Porex, so my blood vessels have grown into the implants. I want them out, but at the present moment I don't have six months to recover. I spent three years doing revision surgery and constantly swollen and in recovery.
It is my personal opinion that implants in the face do not work for anyone. It never looks natural and changes the way your face moves. They cause pain. My advise for anyone considering this would be to stick with fillers.

I am glad you posted this and sorry to hear that your surgery did not go as expected. When you went back to him and requested everything to be removed did he tell you he removed everything? I had a similiar surgey and removal and I wonder if the small build up I have is the result of left over implant or if it is scar tissue
November 25, 2014
Yes. I went back and had a very invasive surgery which included a full coronal incision. I told him I wanted everything out. Nothing is out. I don't know why? I think he tried to carve things down but left each implant in. I think that because of the kind of implant he uses, it's almost impossible to get them out.

thats very strange. I def regret my surgery. It has been a little over two years since I had the implants removed and I am still considering having one last surgery to further reduce the some of the bulk in orbital rim area which is where my implants were originally placed. I could tell he removed the implants but I have this layer close to my eyes and I believe it is implant left over or scar tissue. It looks kind of strange when I smile sometimes. I wonder if a lot of the bulk in you face is scar tissue now rather than left over implant. Hope you find a solution
December 17, 2014
Hi Steve85, Thank you. I'm pretty sure it's implant. It's hard and I can feel the edges. If I have them removed I'm so afraid I will have sagging skin everywhere which I'm sure will happen. I just need to be able to smile normally again.

Dear Chloe44, Reading your update touched me because I know how difficult it is --on a daily basis-- to deal with a bad facial surgery outcome. In my case, I had fat transfer to the cheek area, which made my face look wide and asymmetrical. I've been trying to be both patient and also proactive in searching for solutions, but it is daunting to know that a "fix" entails further surgery and a long recovery. You are beautiful! Please continue to stay strong as you look for solutions. Hugs, Ruz

Thanks Ruz!

I agree with Ruz. I hope you manage to find someone to remedy this. Please keep us updated on your progress. My face looks similar when smiling due to fat grafting gone bad. In this day and age, anything permanent in the face that cannot be reversed easily should be avoided and doctors should be more responsible. I would like to see fat grafts and porex implants discontinued.

Mine feels like implant as well and I heal really well so I cant imagine it is scar tissue. My case is not as severe as you as I only had infra orbital rim implants and I am fearful about sagging as well but I imagine fillers or other solutions could be used to address this. At this point I was looking at going back to DR Y for the reduction just because I had generally a good experience with him and since he did the implant and removal I feel he would be most familiar with things. I know you did not have a good experience with him. Is there another doctor you are considering who knows how to tackle these implants better than him?

I completely agree with you that people should stick to fillers and that implants in the face are a bad idea. The most common thing I've heard as to why people got this procedure is that they wanted a permanent solution. That is never a good idea... Fillers are always best and no lifetime commitment.. Removal caused severe sagging for me. Sometimes I miss at least having support to my cheeks/midface skin despite how unnatural the implants looked. Please be aware of the sagging before you consider removal. I wish there was more info about this surgery out there but people seem to keep taking the risks for just a subtle plumpness to the cheeks...Sometimes people can only find out what we're describing in terms of negative effects the hard way.

fillers drag the face over time because of no support thougj

I'm posting an update so that my profile stays active. I want women to see what can happen. If my story can stop just one person from going through what I have than it's worth it. I did want cheek implants, that is true. I did not expect to come out with filer around my eyes and temples. I have had to have three surgeries after Dr. Yaremchuk, to try and carve out some of the filler, to attempt to get my eyes back to normal. They probably never will be. Please stay away from implants in the face. Stick with filler or fat. Your face won't move normally with implants in it.

I was on some website where it was talking about how Brad Pitt has a negative under eye vector. If I were a man, I'd much rather look like Brad Pitt with sharply defined features that move normally than to come out looking like Alicia Douvall (who coincidently is rumored to have also been a patient of Dr. Yaremchuk's). I couldn't smile normally either, but I would have just left the cheek implants in place if Dr. Yaremchuk hadn't also torn out all the fat from my face, damaging my nerves and making me look like skeletor.
May 11, 2015
From your pictures, it looks like sorta the same thing as me, where you had fine features, which were coarsened/worsened.

Was it filler in the temple area, or was it implant? Or was it perhaps one of those permanent fillers? If it was filler, do you know what kind (around the temples I mean.) Or was it all diffferent implants? Why did he do as he liked and put additional implants or filler in -- I thought a person selects what they want done and that is it? Since it would then cost more to put more implant or filler in, I mean -- why would he have done that? Sorry to ask so many questions, and I am truly hopeful that something can be done for you. You are still pretty I think, but I can understand how frustrating this must be.

Hi, Nadia. I can't speak for Chloe, but in my case, I think he just didn't care enough to actually listen to me. During the consult, I showed him a steroid induced depression on the back side of my arm, but then I woke up with fat injected into the middle of one of my armpits (pics are included under my review). I think he has a financial stake in some medpor-like company, too, so maybe he gets them gratis or at reduced cost. After getting my op report, I discovered he recycled a nasal implant onto my R. mandible body, which is how I ended up with permanent nerve damage and a joker smile. He told me during the post op that he took out "a little fat" and I didn't even realize how terrible that was until around a week out when my face started resembling my 60+ year old mother. I was VERY reluctant to proceed with surgery when I showed up for the consult, but because the surgery was prepaid and scheduled for the next day, he even concealed that he'd be cutting my eyes. I guarantee I wouldn't have proceeded because my eyes were one of my best features, previously. Now they look like s*#t and are hooded with under eye bulges. He's not a good person. And it seems like he's done similar things to many, many people. There's even a different plastic surgeon that's known to repair all the botched Dr. Yaremchuk patients. The messed up thing with Chloe is that she was told the implants were removed and spent a small fortune on removal, but then you look at the x-ray and clearly there's been some lapse in communication between what the doctor is saying and what's acutally being done. I hope all goes well with you and whatever it is you're searching for...

you look amazing... why do you want to take it out?
June 17, 2015
You were so beautiful before the surgeries. Why would you want to change anything? There are women all over the world that would desire to look like you. You are still beautiful. I would research....research.....research and find doctors that have expertise in this type of corrective surgery. Don't give up. You're beautiful regardless. I just really love your "before" pic.

I had cheek implants at the same time as my rhinoplasty. They turned out great. Subtle, but very good improvement. People would comment that they never noticed how pretty my bone structure was and chalked it up to the rhinoplasty reducing the focus from my larger nose that had been reduced. I still looked like me, but just a better version. People would look at me and say "There's something different but I don't know what it is. You look so amazing". I told some people I was having my nose done, but never told anyone about the cheek implants. People always tell me I look like Shania Twain. Do I? Of course not, but I sure love to hear that. I think it is 1% what you already have to work with and 99% the skill and expertise of the surgeon. My doctor uses subtle, conservative techniques. I didn't want to look "done". Never give up on corrections of botched procedures. There are doctors out there that can help you.

You looks better than Shania!

I think we are our own worst critic. To me you look very pretty. I am sorry you didn't get the results you wanted. Doesn't sound like the Doctor listens to you or does what you want. Good to point out who he is so others can avoid him. Wish you well.

My God you are gourgeos ! If I will be you I just leave it like that! You are a movie star!
