I Can See my Neck Again!
I always had a double chin, even as a very thin child, and a 110 lb. adult. When I hit 40, my small fat pad ballooned until I couldn't even see my neck. I did gain weight, but almost all of it went to my chin, very little anywhere else. It was bugging me so much that I was considering either liposuction or Kybella. Both looked expensive, painful and with a lot of downtime, so I looked into Coolmini. I was sceptical, but decided to give it a try.
I was afraid the procedure would be painful, but it wasn't at all. First, the nurse rubbed some kind of gel on me and she hooked up the coolmini attachment to my chin. Even though my head is huge, they had to strap the attachment on and do some adjusting to get it to stay on. I felt a slight pulling sensation for a minute and then nothing. I actually checked to see if the attachment was on once in a while because I was sure it had fallen off (it hadn't). The worst thing about the whole procedure is the very loud and constant noise the machine makes.
It took two hours, one hour for the left side and one hour for the right. The nurses would check on me every 15 minutes to see if I was all right. It was tough because I wasn't supposed to talk or move my head. If anyone reading this review is a chatterbox, you might have a problem with that. :)
After the procedure was over, the nurse massaged my chin. A lot of people told me this was excruciating, so I was not looking forward to it. It actually wasn't that bad. I would describe it as very uncomfortable, like a cross between pins and needles and a bad cramp. The pain is probably a 4 out of 10, and it was over after a minute.
Afterwards, I was able to drive home and carry on with the rest of my day. The only sign I had anything done was a big red mark under my chin. That went away after 5 days. My chin also felt numb and it was tender to the touch. It was painful, per se, it just felt odd and uncomfortable. The numbness took a while to go away, about 3 weeks.
I'm very happy with the results. I still have a little bit of a double chin (from loose skin, not fat) but it's nothing like it was. My chin looks exactly like it did 10 years ago. I'm satisfied with that. It's awesome that I can see my neck again! The side view isn't perfect, but it's a huge improvement. When I'm facing forward in a mirror, I can barely see what's left of it. I don't look like a supermodel, but I think the results are great.
All in all I think it's worth it, no pain and huge results. I highly recommend it for anybody who has a double chin that won't go away.
