This is my "pay it forward" review. I benefited from reviews in this site and it made sense to do the same. It' is an on going review. I will only draw a conclusion and let you know if it was worth it after six months or so, since I understand it is when you should see a final result. Nevertheless, I will post a mid-review after one month when I understand you can see the results. I did took pictures to share, some very unglamorous ones to give you a "real" look at the process, but realself warns you that once posted they can't be removed. I'm sorry, but I don't know that I want my pictures here indefinitely, you never know!
I won't be answering PM, only public questions. Thanks.
A few caveats:
- Don't assume you'll be up and running a few days after the surgery. Everyone reacts differently and much depends on how much fat was extracted, where it was extracted from and if you combined the surgery with other procedures (i.e. breast implants). So bottom line, this review will give you an idea of what to expect but don't assume it will be your experience.
- Don't compare yourself to others after the surgery. Again, everyone's experience is different and there are many variables to consider.
- It is not a glamorous process. There will be many hygienic towels involved wrapped around your body, diaper times, and many uncomfortable times.
- If you are a prude, this is not for you. You'll be naked many times in front of many different people, in different positions, while not looking your best.
- The price I quote above is using a conversion of 2950 pesos to a dollar. It includes the "pain bomb and blocks" (pain reduction options), 20 massages after the procedure, one night at the hospital, insurance, medicines and other misc. you'll need, such adjustments to your girdles. It does not include nurses, staying at the Chateau Spa after the procedure or hyperbaric sessions.
- I did have a nurse for 4.5 days and stayed at the Chateau 4 nights. I also had 5 Hyperbaric chamber sessions, and I would not do it differently if I had to do it again!
- I was in Colombia months before the procedure and I'll stay for at least 4 months after the procedure. So a lot of what I say does not apply to international patients that can't stay long after the procedure.
THE SURGERY
So far so good. I did not have any complications. Dr. Hoyos is very kind, and he has great bedside manner. I also deal with his support staff which includes another doctor, a resident and nurses. The staff at Dr. Hoyos' office has been supportive and responsive. The staff at the Chateau (spa, hotel and restaurant) were fabulous and my nurse was great, I don't know how people manage without a nurse the first few days!
A.) 11 days after the procedure: I don't really see the results yet. Things aren't looking quite in its place yet and a couple of hardened areas worry me, also I don't have full sensitivity in a number of areas in my back and gluteal area. I am told all is normal. I had my first follow up appointment with a doctor that works with Dr. Hoyos as he was traveling, I got a diuretic to deal with my swollen body (normal). My second follow up appointment was with Dr. Hoyos, it seems all is going according to plan; I felt a little bit rushed, but it may be that I was not prepared because they do ask you of any concerns. Next appointment I'll have a list ready.

Hi. I am scheduled for full body liposculpture with Dr. Hoyos and would love to know what to pack with me as I too will be staying at Chateau Physique. I'm traveling from overseas and will stay for two weeks. I've started to shop for front closing non-underwire bras, loungewear, etc. ANY advice is appreciated. I'll be there alone and don't speak Spanish. What was the name of your nurse? I also asked about the oxygen hyperbaric sessions; are those done at the clinic? What do I need to know about that. I plan to get the pain pump for sure and extra nursing days. I was considering having the extra nursing days for 12 hours during the day but do you suggest after the first 48 hours to have nurse round the clock and therefore be there overnight sleeping in the room?

I appreciated the nurse for the first few days, but some people only get it for the firs day or so. I have not used a bra at all, the garment has a bra built in it. Pack light, sweatpants, baggy clothes, you'll have a lot of things underneath (foam, pads). Hyperbaric sessions are done in another business.

I'm already here in Bogota. I have taken two of five oxygen chamber sessions and highly recommend. My blood oxygen saturation after the 40 minute session is 100. That's tough at Bigota's Hugh altitude

is that aquote for a full body liposuction with fat injections to the buttocks?
August 6, 2016
You got a great price; significantly lower than what is quoted to US based patients. Congrats. They normally quote in USD 11K for 4DHD Liposculpture and 13K if you add mini TT. This includes the surgery, 10 post op lymphatic drainage massages, one night and meds administered in clinic, 49 hours of private nurse when you leave clinic, and Doctor appts

It's quite possibly the exchange. The dollar was quite high when I did it. I believe they also into account the approx. amount of fat to extract, they gave me a quote in pesos (not USD) and only after a personal assessment.

You got a real deal. I hope you are doing well.
I return to the States on Saturday. Tomorrow is my last hyperbaric oxygen chamber appt. I elected to begin twice a day drainage massages on Monday so will have 6 extra above what's included in the quote with Kristell who I HIGHLY recommend. She's been working with Dr. Hoyos over 7 years. Very professional and lovely person.

Glad all is going well. I didn't deal with Kristell, may be because I've done everything locally, not as an international. Hyperbaric sessions helped me a lot with the bruising too. Drainage massages are great. I was still draining after one month!

I have another question for you. What about the payment process made you rate it as under 5 stars? I was told that the surgery fees were payable with a credit card or cash or wire. I plan to use a CC. Any issues or considerations I should take into account?
July 25, 2016
No. Seems like the fee was charged in COL for arodma and it was converted to USD per the post. I was quoted in USD but perhaps this is an estimate and actual charge will be made in COL. I am wondering what happened during payment that received 4 not 5 stars.
August 6, 2016
A number of things need to be paid in cash (garments, "pain bomb") and there is an extra % if you pay with a credit card, you don't have to pay the extra % if you pay with a debit card.
August 6, 2016
As long as you use a cc that doesn't charge for fx fees there is no extra fee from Doctor to charge on cc.
UPDATED FROM arodma

I'm sorry I went MIA. While most things look great, and I'm happy, there are a couple of issues that I've been concerned about. I raised the issues to Dr. Hoyos and he felt that it was wise to wait 6 months and re-evaluate. He was definitely right to wait as my body continued to change. The issues, while not major, they are visible, some even over my clothes and they remained, but they are indeed slightly different after six months.
I will go to the doctor soon, and I will update my review accordingly, possibly after the touch up.
One thing to keep in mind, I suffered hyper pigmentation in a couple of places, not small either. There is nothing the doctor can do about that, except give me some creams that have helped a little bit. Just something to keep in mind, it is a risk and everyone reacts and heals differently. I'm not thrilled about it but will live with it, it's just one of those things...it is what it is.

Congratulations and thanks for posting update. Would you tell us more about the 'touch up" you mention? What do you think is planned? Did the doctor say he'll not charge a separate fee from what you originally paid or what does a touch up include/cost the patient besides time, etc? Was the hyper pigmentation at the spots where the holes were made to execute the lipo? I too have dark spots there which are slowly improving.
January 15, 2017
I'll post details about the touch up after I meet with him, hopefully next week. The hyper pigmentation is in my thighs between my legs. It runs between 3 and six inches since parts are continuous (3 inches) others are on and off spots. The scars from the holes are dark indeed, but I was not talking about those. The stains in between my legs, and one butt cheek look more like birth marks.
Thanks for paying it forward by sharing your experience. Feel free to share your photos, as if you decide you want to remove them later you can, here's a link that explains that.
Glad things are going good for your so far and I look forward to following your journey. Have you checked in here yet? It's a great place to connect with others starting their journey as well. Good luck!
