Hello, I am now just about 7 weeks out. Back at work full time. I’m posting a few before and after for comparison even though I feel pretty swollen this morning. One issue that seems to be dragging on is some lymphedema in my ankles and calves. I seem to wake up with ankles, but they quickly fill up with fluid and it makes walking pretty uncomfortable. Even with compression socks and a few lymphatic massages they are struggling. Dr. Says it could take months for this to resolve after thighplasty.

Back from the hospital and on the mend

With any big surgery like this there are always risks. The drain site had become infected and I ended up in the hospital and it came back positive for MRSA. Luckily the infection control doctor and the attending at Mission Hospital were able to pin point the issue and figure out the right antibiotic. I didn’t want to spend Christmas there but it was worth it. I’m now back home and feeling so much better. I have a small opening in my left leg where it was draining but even that is healing up with loose packing. I’m surprised at just how quickly I went from very sick to walking pretty well and able to care for myself for the most part. I am coming up on 5 weeks and I think in about 3 more I should be well on my way to normal. One thing I wanted to mention is that I do have quite a bit of swelling in my ankles and calves from the thighplasty. Can’t really wear shoes that fit snugly. Dr. Agha has said that it could months before that resolves. I’m a little concerned about that.

In the hospital with MRSA infection from drain.
shellme1December 24, 2018
So after 5 days of oral antibiotics and would care at home, Dr. Agha and his PA recommended that I go to the ER for my leg infection. I was admitted last Friday night and it’s now Sunday night. The cultures came back today positive for MRSA and I’ve been receiving lots of IV antibiotics and pain meds as this is a very painful infection. I have a small opening in the thigh that’s been consistently draining pus and clear fluid as well. They did a CT scan this morning to see what’s happening deep in the leg. No results yet. I would love to be able to go home for Christmas with my family, but I want this infection gone! I will post more when I know more.
