Nothing But Praise for Dr. Zochowski!!
I'm going to be honest, I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience. I'm a month post op now. His office in Gahanna is super nice, modern and clean. His head nurse, Megan, is an absolute angel.
I came to Dr. Zochowski after losing 235 lbs. I had been obese since early childhood, and after almost dying at 29, I started taking my health seriously and, through diet and exercise and determination, I lost the weight over the span of 2 years. I knew at the start I would need skin removal surgery, given the fact I had been so big for decades.
I started my research in winter 2022, as I got close to my goal weight. I had to kiss a few frogs, but found Dr. Zochowski and within meeting him for the consultation, I knew he would be the one to help me. He exudes warmth and excitement to transform his patients.
His team did everything to try to get my insurance to play ball, but they wouldn't help. This isn't a problem of Dr. Zochowski and his team, they fought valiantly for months, but Cigna is a bunch of bastards. Regardless of coverage, I knew I wanted to work with Dr. Z, so I still moved forward.
My full procedure was a lot: Abdominoplasty with Fleur de Lis, Belt lipectomy, breast lift, arm lift, monsplasty, and thigh lift. It was my decision to do them all in one. Because of my age and health, Dr. Z agreed to preform it, but he would usually split up the surgeries. I do not regret having them all, but it is a lot of healing, and I would not have been able to do this if I didn't work from home.
The day of surgery was very early. It was performed in the hospital in New Albany off Smiths Mill, and, no lie, it is the fanciest hospital I have ever been admitted to. On the day of, I was super nervous and almost fainted a couple times while Dr. Zochowski was marking me up. He was so kind and patient and understanding of my emotions.
The surgery itself went without a hitch. It was 11 hours long, and he fully transformed me, removing 30 lbs of skin. He doesn't like recording his surgeries, so there's no video, but he took a picture of all of the skin on the table.
Every question I've had, his team has been able to answer. I was very concerned about my thighs about two weeks in, because they were very red and swollen, but it turns out I was moving too much and causing swelling and fluid build up. After bed rest it reduced.
I complained about pain around my drain sites, and they immediately had a prescription in for lidocaine cream to reduce the pain.
I've been seeing them at their office 2 times a week to check my progress, and after I heeded his word and stopped doing stuff, my healing is good and back on track. All these visits are included in the price of the surgery. He has also provided compression gear for free, and will offer scar lasering later down the line to help reduce the scars, also included. He said any minor corrections would also be preformed in office if needed along the healing process.
He is nothing short of amazing and his team is incredible and has answered every dumb question I have had. So far, the only negatives I have are me at me, for moving so much in those first couple weeks because pain meds had me feeling like I could haul groceries up two flights of stairs lol.
I will provide pictures further along my healing process.
