Don’t trust him - he’s on probation for gross negligence that led to death of his patient
Dr. Katzen is on probation starting March 2023 for gross negligence that led to a woman’s death. All his potential patients should know this. Also, he allows his unlicensed surgical techs to suture you in the operating room which he does inform you about and I have filed a medical board complaint, hoping something is done about this practice, his surgical techs are not good at suturing (I have video of them suturing me) and I believe it’s why I got wound dehiscence.
I’m withdrawing my recommendation
Hi everyone. I look great with clothes on but under it all I’m left with one nipple/areola higher than the other. I mentioned this in my initial review hoping it’d get better. I’m also left with a large scar from a right hip wound opening and sacral opening and now it makes sense. Dr. Katzen allows his surgical tech to suture his patients. This is a big no no because surgical techs aren’t allowed to practice medicine. His surgical tech sutured me on my right side, the same side I got my wound openings and my nipple was suture higher on my breast. Once I discovered this I decided I would not be recommending him. If I could file a malpractice claim I would but you must do that within a year of the incident and it’s past that for me. I will be filing a complaint with the board however.
Almost 2 years out now
I want to say thank you to Dr. K and staff. I’m so grateful for this surgery even though I had complications. I couldn’t upload pictures before but now I could. I got two wounds one on my sacrum and one on my right hip, that really sucked. I got wound care from a local wound care doctor right away, don’t delay getting wound care, it will speed up your recovery.
My breasts are good in size, very happy Dr. K encouraged me to go up in size. Not happy with nipples though, they are not symmetrical, one is smaller than the other and one is placed slightly higher than the other.
My body contour is great! Incision lines are not the neatest or straightest, could be better. I told Dr. K my bariatric dr had told me I had an umbilical hernia, Dr. K said he didn’t see it, yesterday I had to have it repaired so I’m not sure he paid attention to that.
Belly button stalk was placed to the right of my belly button, the stalk was long and now I have a bulge from it. Wondering if the stalk could have been shortened? I’ll try to post a picture.
I have developed a suture granuloma on my upper abdomen muscle repair. It’s a hard ball slightly visible at skin level. My general surgeon wanted to remove the suture but if he does it would mess up my muscle repair per Dr. K so eventually I’ll need to deal with that.
As you can see from my picture I look pretty good with my clothes on. I feel much more confident now. With my clothes off you really see my scars and the how the finer details of the work could be better. I know Dr. K’s surgical tech sewed me up on one side from the video I got, likely the side I got openings so I really think Dr. K needs to do all the suturing because the side he sewed up looks beautiful.
