After Much Searching, I Chose Dr. B and Here is Why:

I am going to make a post that I wished for when selecting doctors. I will give you some context, and update you as I move through this experience with Dr. Boudana.

Summer 2021: I interviewed many doctors, which is costly, but this is no small decision--I planned consultation fees into my overall MMO budget. If you want feedback on some of the docs I consulted with in Toronto, feel free to reach out. I only did consults with docs who do drainless.

Dr. B is more expensive than some of the other docs I met, but I chose him because he really seems to the best. He is clued into what patients are asking for--check out his Instagram. I learn more from his comments than his actual photos and videos.

The other reason I chose him is because this is not just about choosing a doctor for one procedure. This is a relationship with someone who will be in my life for some time. Between pre-op and post-op care, we will be seeing a lot of each other. Not just him, either, I'll be dealing with his clinic (Grace Medical) every step of the way--from reception, to client coordinators, and pre and post op nurses. I have given every detail a lot of consideration, I couldn't put my deposit down until I felt 100% like I was making the best decision.

Dr. B has proven himself to not just be the best surgeon I met in terms of (what I think are) his skills in the OR, but he has the best bedside manner. He did the best job of explaining things to me. He was kind, but realistic and thorough. I was very impressed when Dr. B called me personally to resolve some issues I had. I wouldn't consider myself a high-maintenance patient--I do not plan on reaching out to him for every single little thing, but the fact that he gave me his phone number and told me to use it whenever I want after the operation.. that went a long way with me. He is connected to his patients, and actually cares about us--I do not feel this is just about the money and the ratings for him.

Surgeon aside, as a person, he is kind and funny, generous and accommodating. He is a nice guy--not an arrogant person like some of the other surgeons I met.

I am 8 days away from my surgery. .

I went into Dr. B's North York office for the first time today, because that is where he does his 3D simulation for BA sizing. Allow me to provide you with an objective overview of my experience, and if you are interested keep reading for my own feelings about my visit today.

I got there, and Anna, his Surgical Patient Coordinator, knew me by name when I checked into reception. She sat with me in her office, and made me feel welcome. We discussed my surgery and a few other things I wanted to ask.

Stacy, the nurse, called me into a room where I was given a robe, and pictures were taken for the 3D simulation. The simulation was VERY cool. Dr B showed me a few different options and the contrast between them, to help me make an informed decision. I know a lot of doctors choose not to do the 3D simulation because it is only a depiction of what it may look like.. But for me, it was so useful. You could see what the different size implants, as well as the different levels of projections would look like, from every angle on YOUR OWN body.

These are the things I would expect from any surgeon and his staff. What I thought was exceptional--above and beyond, even, was the way the staff, and Dr. B treated me. I can say for sure he was juggling a few things as well as other patients but he NEVER made me feel like I was less than top priority. He was patient, answered my questions in a very factual way. I asked him for his recommendation, which he gave. Ultimately I chose something else. This did not upset his ego like it may have with other surgeons. He smiled, supported me by giving me all the facts about my decision, but in the end told me that I should do what makes me happy. I have no doubt he will do his best with my choice (to go slightly bigger). I have seen his before and after photos, I trust him entirely.

As for my feelings about the experience: I left there wanting to cry.. In the best way possible. I couldn't believe how well he listens to the things you say as well as the things you don’t say. He gets it, guys. He knows what we want!! I am SO insecure about my body, and if he delivers on even half of what he understood to be my needs, I will feel like a totally different, much more confident person. I left the clinic having spent well over the time I was allotted I am sure…but feeling very hopeful and optimistic.
