Still unhappy

$4,000
I am so over paying so much money and not getting the results I want. I went with a big known plastic surgeon that also performs surgeries at a local hospital. But my stomach still looks bad. I can't even wear a bikini. : (

I have. But the plastic surgeon stated I should hold off on that for now and see if a revision would fix the problem.

Have you tried to talk to him about your results? See if maybe he can do touch up to improve it. I don't think you can expect to ever be back too 100% but I think you should have some level of expectation. Sorry it didn't work out better.

I'll have to call for an appointment. I just hate how this is my 3rd procedure (smartlipo, coolsculpting, revision Liposuction) and I am still having problems. It's a lot of money.

I'm so sorry that it hasn't worked out the way you wanted especially after spending so much money. I would definitely consult with more doctors. I had a mommy makeover in Feb 2015 and was having an issue with a seroma above my bellybutton that I kept having to get drained every month after 7 months of this I had had enough plus it was starting to look like I had a beer gut! I couldn't go back to Miami because of money and had to find a solution here in NY which is difficult because a lot of doctors don't want to touch another doctor's work. Some doctors told me I had to get surgery again because maybe my stomach muscles separated, then I would show them the ultra sound of the fluid and since they weren't going to get the money of surgery they would say oh its just a seroma it'll go away or just get hard and you'll have that lump. Not what I wanted to hear. Some just flat out told me to go back to Miami because they wouldn't touch me. I did some more research and found some similar stories of women with the same situation who did lipo on the seroma area so that it would become raw again and be able to stick to the abdominal wall. So with that info went to another rounds of consults and finally found a doctor who agreed that it might work she didn't promise it would but was willing to give it a try and also not kill my wallet in the process and I'm glad to say its looking like it worked! So what I'm saying is don't give up you just have to find the right doctor one who is willing to listen to your concerns and help fix it. My first doctor in Miami was Dr Daniel Careaga he's awesome! He's very understanding and nice and takes care of his patients he even did my mom's hernia repair with a tummy tuck. My mom is super anxious and he sees her all the time no questions asked when she thinks something isn't right and when I had my surgery for the 3 wks I was there he saw me 2 times a wk to make sure everything was ok. Unfortunately the seroma came after I left Miami but he's kept in touch throughout the whole process speaking to my doctor here in NY maybe you can consult him. Good luck hun and don't give up you'll find the right doctor who will work with you and make everything right again.

Had revision Liposuction

betterself21
Finally got the courage to redo abdominal liposuction. The plastic surgeon I went to stated I was not a canidate for a tummy tuck. I am 3 months post op and discouraged. I still see some lumps. Had a total of 12 ultrasonic cavitation/radiofrequency treatments (6 before my procedure, 6 after) and massaged rigorously for 2.5 months

Honestly I think it looks way better and it is still very early. I also had a lot of internal scar tissue and then a revision to fix it. At first it looked like all the scar tissue was and discontinuities was coming back but with time and a lot lot lot of firm massaging it did smooth out. Best of luck. It is looking really good and will get better.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I was so nervous to have surgery again.

I had lipo 3 months ago and have been having lymphatic drainage massage 2 times a week since. My lumps are almost gone. It just takes time. Be patient and stick with your massaging! You look great and you can definitely wear a bikini! Find one that comes up a little higher for now. I think everything will smooth out in time. Be well.

I was always chubby. It wasn't until i joined the military when I lost the weight. It didn't matter what I did, but I was left with a small pouch of belly fat in my lower abs. It was recommended by Dr. Nees to perform smartlipo. He ruined my stomach! Have lumps, scar tissue and and an indentation where he removed too much fat. Don't ever go to Strax Rejuvenation!

I'm sorry you're unhappy with your results.  Do you have any before pictures?  Where is the indentation located?  I hope you can get the support you need in the community.  Did you find us because you were considering doing a revision?
July 23, 2014
Hello. Unfortunately I do not have any before pictures, but I will tell you this, there was never any lumps. I realized that what I needed was a mini abdominal plasty not smartlipo. That would have gotten rid of the stomach pouch below my navel. The indentation is on the left side. Will have to get a another picture with better lighting. I seriously don't know what to do. I tried ultrasonic cavitation a month ago and the tech informed me, it will not get rid of scar tissue. I'm afraid of going under the knife again and getting horrible results. So I hope you, other physicians and members who see my post can help.

I never did the lipo, but went with a full tummy tuck because of diastasis and a hernia.  But I've seen many talk about lumps--some of which disappear, but before 3 years, certainly.  You might try submitting your pictures and questions to our Doctors' Q&A Forum.  It's a way for you to get something a bit closer to a recommendation (none of us in the community are doctors, after all,) while also not having to pay for a consult.  The doctors who donate their time are highly regarded, and many have reviews here on RealSelf so you can see their work.  You can use this link if you'd like to go that route.

We have two ladies that I know of off the top of my head, here in the community, who are going through lumpiness and excess removal issues.  They are for thighs, though, both of them, so I don't know if it applies.  But go take a look :).  Their reviews are here:

ChinoCa's Review and
Shay909's Review

We have a few others who are working on small lumps and bumps in their ab regions as well (nearly all of our members, actually, who've had surgery recently, since that's pretty normal,) but they're all still early days so it likely doesn't compare.  I haven't been in the community that long though, just a bit over a month, so you may find others :).

Sorry about your smart-lipo results. Have you since got a revision?
August 7, 2014
No. Afraid of going under the knife again. I'm not really sure what to do.

I understand you probably won't trust anyone. It's normal to feel that way. There is a new technique called airbrush laser lipo sculpture. no scalpels or stitches. I never heard of it and i googled it. I also spoke to a woman who had it done here in California. Best Wishes.

Thanks. I'll look into it.
