I've been very self-conscious about my sticky-out ears since I was young and as a result I've never had the confidence to wear my hair up. When I met Mr Ross for my first consultation we discussed the two possible procedures that could be used to pin my ears back (the cartilage removal method versus permanent internal stitches). The cartilage of my ear was particularly malleable and the prominence of my ears not too-great to the internal stitch method seemed well suited to me. I had the procedure done under a local anaesthetic and was in and out of the hospital within a couple of hours. I had to wear a bandage on my head for a week and then wear a cotton head-band for a further six weeks. I am now just under one year post-op and my results are excellent: my ears are set-back into a preferable position whilst still looking natural and they are very symmetrical. My ears have relaxed quite a lot within the last year but they have not returned to their original position, this has just served to give them a more natural appearance. With this method there is a possibility that my stitches could extrude and need extraction at some point in the future so I have been told that I can return to the hospital if I need any stitches removed.

I couldn't be happier with my results and it has increased my confidence. My ears are better in the sense that I barely even think of them anymore - I wear my hair up and hold my head high without thinking of them, which was all I ever wanted.
