Been through HELL

Just under the 2 week post surgery mark I ended up in the ER with a pulmonary embolism. It was by far the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life! Now I'm on blood thinners 2X a day, have to give myself [RS bleep] in my stomach for the next 6-9 months. This sucks!!!! No exercise or Alcohol allowed for a while. I'm just starting to recover. I literally thought I was dying.

On a positive note, I'm looking good.

Day 6 Post

Got 1 drain out today. That was such a gross feeling. I kinda wish I would have seen someone post on drain removal. I'm kinda happy I didn't see anything on it. So warning before you continue.... it's the 411 on my drain experience.....

I had 2 drains. One drain connect to each side of lower waist. The drains are small little squeeze pumps, connected to a small tube. The tube goes inside a little opening on my side. Each is taped pretty good to my skin, and also as stitches around it at the entry point to keep in closed and in place. During my 1st shower, I went to remove some of thick bandages and accidental rremkved the banadnge/tape around the entry point. It stung like HELL. I managed to tape it back in place but it still hurt here and there. Like a stinging feeling- as if I was getting poked by a safety pin.

Well today, I went to get the drain out. I was so nervous about them pulling it out and for the stinging to hurt like hell. Well, no fear- that was not the case. The Nurse told me to take a deep breath and then let it out slow. She said I would feel it in my chest. I thought that was odd. I took the breath and she pulled it out. This thing was so long. Keep in mind the drain entry point was my lower waist, as she pulled, I felt the tubed line ,moving through my body, down my side, through my chest. Best way to explain it is to imagine a long skinny live snake is in your body & it moves through you to get out of the entry point. It was the grossest feeling. Afterward I had some light cramping in my chest but it didn't last long.

I think if I would have read this it would of scared the hell out of me, so I'm glad I didn't know. But it wasn't painful, just gross.

Last drain comes out Monday. I'll post more pics when I'm drainless. :)

Also.... I had the toddlers again today. It was so hard! Babysitter will have them tomorrow. But...I find I'm using my arm and back strength to get myself up alone. I'm also walking around the house well. Dr said I was doing great.

I'm so swollen all over I want to walk and see if I can get it down. Ugh.

Day 5 Post

I can stand straight up and walk but I still get tired easy. The TT area doesn't hurt but the Lipo areas hurt like hell. I really happy with the results so far including my chin. What a difference! Sorry the pic isn't the best. My chin is numb and swollen. Also I'll have a small little scar under my chin, hence the bandaid. I get 1 drain out tomorrow and the other next week. I got stuck without a babysitter today and had to watch Toledo toddlers! ugh!! What a challenge glad it's over! That was a bit much. Also I don't feel depressed but I find myself getting a bit emotional.

Provider Review

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
36400 Woodward Ave., Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

4/27/17 - Yesterday I had my 2nd visit at Dr. Freedland's office. The first visit he took one on one time to discuss the whole procedure with me and answer questions. He was my 4th quote. The others include Allure Medical Spa, Dr Grey, and Dr Osgood. He was not the cheapest but I feel most comfortable with him so far. Here's the difference: Allure - had me meet with an assistant, not the doctor. She had me lift my shirt and just told me I was a candidate. She said they have 3 Dr's on board, only 1 is certified yet they all do surgeries. She even helps them. She said they would lipo my upper stomach & then do a full tummy tuck. Dr Gray (A new you) - he schedule all tummy tuck patients at once and then brought us into a room together to look at pics, and do a "group" presentation. I felt like I was buying a time share. He was a fast talker and kept referring to a tummy tuck as a simple paper cut. He talked about muscle repair and said doing lipo in the upper abdomen could actually kills skin cells and become ugly. He was by far the cheapest, but I felt like I was in a butcher shop with a bunch of us cows in the waiting room. Dr. Osgood was very nice. I like this guy a lot. His price was cheaper too. The problem here is that i want do 1 surgery and recover. He wanted to do several small surgeries to do the mommy make over. This means more time off work, ultimately more recovery time. and just not what I'm looking for. He also said lipo _ tummy tuck on the belly is not a good idea. Dr. Freedland - also talked about muscle repair and mentioned lipo on the belly with tummy tuck isn't good. He talked about other area's that I could get done too but wasn't pushy. His finance girl Barbara was extremely helpful and really closed the deal for this doctor. She recommended doing my sides with the tummy tuck so I'm curvy instead of boxy. She worked out the pricing and financing, making it doable. My final choice is Dr. Freedland - and I'm scheduled for May 12th, 2017.
