Black woman hair transplant - results are completely unacceptable
I had my hair transplant done in March of 2018 with Dr. Siegel. I was extremely eager, excited, and optimistic to get this procedure done. I watched their YouTube videos and read the really good reviews, so I figured getting this hair transplant would change my life. The day of the procedure all of the staff was extremely nice and welcoming.
When I met Dr. Siegel he was very nice, personable, and made me feel comfortable. He took a look at my hairline and I told him what I wanted. The right side of my hairline had a significant amount of hair loss from wearing tight braids and ponytails when I was a teenager, the left side was not as bad. Unfortunately, I was blessed with my father's masculine v shaped hairline. I wanted my hairline lowered as well to create a more feminine hairline. Everything went fine during the procedure. I do feel like it seemed rushed. I did not get to eat lunch until after the procedure was done. I was expecting to have a break at some point because their YouTube videos state that the procedure takes 5-6 hours. I was there for under 4 hours. When I got back to the hotel I looked at my new hairline. I did notice that the grafts at the front right side of my hairline were spaced far apart compared to the left front of my hairline. It looked like they ran out of grafts and started spacing them far a part (I can fit my pinky finger in some of the gaps).
My review is based on my results, unlike the first impressions reviews that I see on their website that are written the day of or the same week that patients have their transplants done. As far as my results over a year later I am disappointed and unhappy. I knew it would take time to fully grow in, but I did address my concerns with Dr. Siegel at month 6. I told him my hairline was thin and uneven and sent him pictures. He reassured me to give it more time and that I would get more density and my hairline would even out. I waited until month 8 to contact Dr. Siegel again. I told him that I did not think I was getting good results, and sent more pictures. He told me I would get more density but to give it the full 12 months. At 12 months I was completely devastated because my results are 100% not what I expected. I was expecting to be happy and confident about my hairline, but I am still parting my hair the same way that I did before the transplant because my edges are still thin, there are gaps where the hairs were placed too far a part, and I have a very unnatural hairline. I was expecting to be able to pull my hair back in a ponytail after my final results. There is no way I am doing that. It looks a mess!
My hairline at the front where the doctor lowered my hairline looks uneven and unnatural (it resembles hair plugs). There is a line of demarcation where my old hairline was. It goes from thin transplanted hair to my non-transplanted hairs which are thick. I invested a lot of time and money into this to not be happy. I did send the doctor final pictures and addressed my unhappiness over Skype. He did look concerned when I told him. He did offer to add a few hairs in the front of my hairline to fill in the gaps ( I need a lot more than a few hairs). He only recalled the right side of my edges being the focus and not the hairline lowering. I would expect the doctor to maybe look at some notes on what was done beforehand. Also, he should have been taking notes during our discussion. He did say that he would look over the pictures that I sent him and compare the before and after pictures and contact me back.
I waited about a week I never heard back from him which was very disappointing. I decided to text him and asked if he looked over the pictures and what his final thoughts were. I wanted to know if he thought all the grafts grew, and I expressed again that I was disappointed. He responded back that he was sorry that I was unhappy and that he would have Dr. Huebner follow up with me. I was expecting my doctor to follow up with me and provide answers to my questions. I felt like he was putting me off to Dr. Huebner. Dr. Siegel never told Dr. Huebner to contact me, I contacted Dr.Huebner myself. Yet again very unprofessional Dr. Siegel. I do appreciate that I was able to address my concerns with Dr. Huebner, but I was expecting an apology for my experience and disappointing results. Unfortunately, I was never given an apology. Dr. Hueber basically said because of the hair loss that I had two transplants would have been needed to begin with. Dr. Siegel not once ever mentioned that I would need a 2nd hair transplant.
Dr. Huebner offered a discount on a 2nd transplant which they do for all the other patients that get 2nd hair transplants. He mentioned that the staff needed to get paid, and they had to pay for supplies. Clearly with the pictures that I sent a good transplant was not performed. Why should I be responsible to pay for a 2nd hair transplant? No one gave me a valid reason for my hairline looking the way that it does. Dr. Siegel could not explain anything to me and seemed to be avoiding me. Dr. Huebner said that he brings new doctors into the clinic and trains them. Dr. Siegel was a newer doctor at the time so that is probably why my hairline looked the way that it does. I felt like that remark was extremely unprofessional. I felt like I was a guinea pig for Dr. Siegel to practice on when he stated this. I was basically asked to pay more money to fix a bad hair transplant that Dr. Siegel did.
My results are completely unacceptable!! Dr. Huebner said I did make progress and it looked a lot better than before. At one point I was convincing myself that it did, but I kept looking at the pictures that I took throughout this process and it looks horrible. Even my family and friends agree that a better solution should have been offered, and the results are unsatisfactory. I did consider Dr. Huebner doing my 2nd transplant since he had an experience, unlike Dr. Siegel.
The following year I decided to write a review on the Natural Transplant website because I really wanted to express my feelings about my experience with them. Two days later I got a call from Dr. Huebner asking me if I could change my review because it was costing them to lose a lot of business. He wanted me to put in the review that they were offering a discount on the 2nd hair transplant, and trying to fix my edges. I did agree to add that into the review and I reposted it. I received another call from Dr. Huebner asking me to change the review again or possibly delete it. He said he didn't want people to think that if they gave a mediocre review they would get a discount on a 2nd hair transplant. This statement contradicted what he mentioned in our Skype meeting. He said that Natural Transplants did not want the 2nd transplant to be a financial burden to their patients that is why they offer the discount. The discount was something that they already did. I did agree to delete it because he took additional money off of the price that he quoted me for the 2nd transplant. I wish I would have left it up because I have every right to express my own opinion without being influenced by him.
He also mentioned how him and the staff thought how unfair my review was. My review was my 100% honest opinion. If I had great results I would have given Dr.Siegel 5 stars. My results are horrible! I paid my hard-earned money for a transplant that was rushed, my hairline is uneven, unnatural, thin, and looks like hair plugs at the front of my hairline and yet my review is unfair. REALLY!! This experience has caused me to be mentally and emotionally drained. There is not one day that does by that I don't look in the mirror and cringe at the sight of my hairline. I paid thousands of dollars for something I am extremely unhappy about. I would wake up every morning and cry because of how horrible my hairline looks. I was so optimistic when I chose Natural Transplants Hair Restoration Clinic. I promoted them on my YouTube channel, gave out their address, phone number, and website because I was so sure I would love my results. The fact that I had to go through everything that I went through and Dr. Huebner told me that my review was unfair was really disappointing. My whole experience with Natural Transplants was UNFAIR.
After thinking things through again, I have decided to go to another clinic to get my 2nd transplant done correctly. This doctor does great work, and if I went to him in the beginning I would not be having this conversation. He's experienced and expensive, but I'll pay the money to have my transplant done correctly. This time I have thoroughly researched!! I do not like how my situation was handled. My experience was extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend Natural Transplants Hair Restoration Clinic to anyone. The doctors at this clinic should make every effort to give patients realistic expectations. Communicate with your patients. Tell them two transplants are needed if that is the case. Take your time don't rush through these transplants, and pay attention to detail. My advice would be to research your doctors. The reviews that I saw for Dr. Siegel at the time were all good reviews, but he is very inexperienced. It's great for those that went to him and like their results, but mine are horrible. Please research your doctor and ask for them to send you before and after pictures of their work. You can not go by a written review. You can not train a doctor for a few months and think that they will be great at their craft. I have heard other patients experiences and they were not great either, but that is their story to tell. Speak up for yourself always! A lot of people told me that my money should have been given back to me. I agree, but I know that is not going to happen. I was intimidated to write my review for a long time, and after deleting my first review I was encouraged by many people to repost it! I will not delete this review!!!
