Traumatic Experience!

He injected 500 units of Hyaluronidase into my lips to correct filler which had gone wrong. Since having the Hyaluronidase I have lost volume in my face and a lot of tissue around my eyes and my mouth. I never had hollows under my eyes, now I have very noticeable hollows and dark circles, and can no longer where eyeliner due to my eyelids dropping. I look like I have aged years in a matter of weeks. My pores are now more pronounced, a little scar I had on my cheek is more noticeable, and my face is starting to droop. I am mortified! My family, friends and colleagues have also commented on the difference in my face, it is very noticeable.

After doing some research it seems way too much Hyaluronidase was used. He should of started off with a small amount, not injected 500 units.

When I went to see him about this he wasn’t helpful at all. We both looked at the pictures from before and after and the difference was obvious, I looked like I’d aged years. He may as well of stood there telling me black was white. He will not except responsibility for what he has done to my face. He instead asked for be to do research and show him evidence this can happen (which the evidence is there in front of him) and then send him the links.

I’m hoping it doesn’t get any worse. I cry almost every morning when I have to look in the mirror to put my makeup, I’ve lost all my confidence and now feel high anxiety at work. I can feel myself slipping into depression.

I will be seeing him again in a few weeks and if he doesn’t acknowledge the damage he has done to my face and at least try to rectify some of it I will seek legal advise.

I will not let this lie. I can not go on the way I am now, and allow him to do this to others.

I wanted to give zero star rating, even a minius. Certainly not 1 star.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. I have had face damage from fillers too, so I can understand your anguish. It is hard to deal with an altered appearance, and I have been fighting my own sadness over my self-inflicted face damage for 4 years now. I know it's hard, but try to find the positives in life that you can hold on to. Dwelling over it just makes it worse though I know it's hard not to. I try to avoid mirrors completely now...and whenever I find myself fixating over the flaws, I just try to distract myself. It's hard, but be kind to yourself in all of this. You have to be a friend to yourself through this. Take walks in the park, immerse yourself in nature, find a worthwhile cause to focus on...just do whatever it takes to get away from the situation that is beyond your control right now. I do that all the time, and while it's exhausting, it does help.

Thank you, I really appreciate your reply. I’m sorry you're having to go through this also.
It’s still very raw at the moment, it’s a shock each morning, that first time I see myself in the mirror, It’s not me looking back, I feel as i’m losing my identity. I won’t let this beat me though, I know there is more to life, but I do refuse to accept it, cosmetic doctors need to be held accountable. I wouldn’t say it was entirely self inflicted, too much hyaluronidase was used, 500 units when the recommended dose is between 3-75 units. This is an error on the doctors side. I was told after at my review (which I had to request) this was because he didn’t want me having to come in for another appointment, it was to make sure everything was dissolved. I should of been asked if it was okay to use more, I most definitely would of said no.

Have you tried getting an MRI? I'm thinking on getting one on my nose after I had a terrible experience with filler. Never done filler in my life and I'm only 21. I only used half a syringe, I've been crying, I don't want to leave my house, I use to be an A+ student in college and I had to take off a semester, I'm just not the same either. But I have hope and so should everyone! Nothing is permanent but we are well informed now that fillers and plastic surgery is always a business to all doctors. It's hard finding honest doctors that would say no, and sometimes a simple no is the most honest one!

i had the same exact thing , the dr also denied , they are all mad men , the effect is still showing till now after one year and a half

They do seem to stick together. They’re all completely ignorant on the damage that can be done, it as if they just refuse to accept it when the evidence is there in front of them. It doesn’t help them with their reputation though, it will eventually come back on them, it obviously happens quite often and if we keep speaking up about it, eventually the truth will come out.

I really know how you feel.. doctors always claim dermal fillers are all easily reversible and thats a big lie.. i had 2 rounds of hyalase and there is still filler left because of vycross and my skin looks ruined.. thin und really uneven.. i really hope it will get better someday.. i looked so good a few months ago and i dont know why the f*** i ever did filler..i regret that sooooo much..

I regret it too! It‘s something you can’t get away from either, there’s always a constant reminder, it is difficult to avoid looking in mirrors. I’m reminded each morning when I see myself in the mirror of the mistake I’ve made in putting my trust into a cosmetic doctor. I wish I’d done some more research beforehand. I won’t let this beat me though, although it is extremely difficult at the moment.
July 14, 2018
Then you seem to be a lot more stronger than me because it has already beaten me.. I don't go out, i stopped eating.. I lost myself..
Its not only a wrinkle here and there, my whole face sagged, my eyelids are red and really, when people see me, they are shocked and ask what has happened to me.. I would do everything to get my face back!! I wish i had known better, now its too late

How are your lips doing? The hyalase was meant to dissolve lipfiller, so how do your lips look now?
User Avatar
July 14, 2018
My lips aren’t back to how they were, I have a few lines around my mouth, my top lip is a lot thinner than it was before I’d had any filler, and I’ve lost some volume around my mouth. I’ll post a picture when I have a bit more time. It’s my eyes that have been affected the most though. My lips have improved but there still not back to how they were.

I’m so sorry it’s so bad for you. How much Hyaluronidase did you have injected? Are you taking any legal action? My face has sagged too and I now look like I have constant black eyes, my eyelashes also look a lot shorter due to my eyes being sunken. I know it’s hard to try and stay positive, I feel depressed a lot and do cry myself, but I do think it’s important to try and not to think negatively all the time, that my face is not going to improve, the mind is powerful and I believe if I try and focus on the chance that some of my own hyaluronic acid will regenerate and improve any damage done than there is more chance of that happening. I do understand it’s hard though, I am too struggling.
July 14, 2018
I think your lips should improve more and more over time.. mostly the horrible storys are about fat loss around the eyes, because it is a very unforgiving area.. In my case 120 units were injected in the tear troughs, which is also too much ! I have read you should start with 20 units and then have multiple rounds.. I won't take any legal actions because i think it would only take a lot of money and power and maybe i could use this to improve my face somehow.. i wouldn't achieve much because they will still keep using it and i'm just trying to warn people here on realself about possible outcomes.. i'm also hoping that things will improve someday.. our body is so regenerative, even burn marks can fully disappear.. so who knows..
User Avatar
July 25, 2018
Yes who knows? The so called ‘doctors’ certainly don’t! I really do hope that it does improve for us both, and the many others that have had to endure this.
November 9, 2018
I completely understand you! I regret doing nose filler myself, I was backing out of it twice the day I had my appointment and I didn't listen to my instincts. But I'm thinking on getting an MRI on my nose because that's where I did filler, i use half a syringe of voluma. You should consider an MRI
July 14, 2018
I too am experiencing a terrible experience from juvederm and dissolvent that made it worst. I met to all 4 docotors they all said the discoloration around my mouth was filler. It actually was inflammatory hyperpigmentaton. Dissolvent made the dicoloratokn worst and make me sagging and dry. Does it ever get better me. Does anyone have any postive stories. I’m so depressed. I looked totally fine 3 months ago before botched fillers and dissolvent.
July 15, 2018
I think we have no other option than wait and see.. I have read a lot of comments about the damage being permanent, but some have improved in 3-4 months.. so let's see..

Thank you for your review. As one of the Midlands' leading cosmetic clinics, we always do our best to ensure that our clients get the optimal outcome from their treatment. Unfortunately, you did not make it at all clear in your review that you initially contacted us requesting that we correct a problem that had been caused by a doctor at a different clinic, who had treated you with a lip filler. Your GP, and the National Health Service in general, does not have the expertise to provide solutions for the problem that you came to us with, and there are very few treatment centres in the UK who will take on another clinic’s problems due to litigation issues. You were referred to us as we have many years expertise in treating clients and training Doctors to safely use cosmetic injectables. As a result, we receive requests from all over the UK to help with problems caused by other injectors. Although we have successfully helped many people, it is always more difficult to correct a problem than to obtain a good result from the commencement of a treatment plan. As some of the statements that you have made are medically incorrect, we find that private discussions concerning helping people who have come to us with problems caused by other clinics is better than debating complicated medical issues on social media platforms. As you know, we have reached out to see how we can deal with the issues that you have raised, but you have chosen instead to place multiple negative reviews ,which have made it very difficult for us to proceed further with objective discussion.

My previous review is an honest review. You refused to acknowledge the damage caused by injecting 100s of units more than the recommended dose of hyaluronidase into my face. You did not once reach out to me once. You did not once offer to assess the damage caused or to offer to try and rectify it. Instead you offered only to see me if I were to remove my review.
User Avatar
August 24, 2018
... It was a GP who you had trained personally who referred me to you. He had injected the filler in the wrong place in my lips which caused it to be above my lip and not actually in my lips.
User Avatar
August 24, 2018
... and, Dr Eccleston why did you inject 100s of units over the recommended dose then refuse to assess the damage caused by your error?

You wrongly informed me that hyaluronidase would not damage my natural tissue. It is evident that it has. I see you have made no reference to your wrong doing at all in your comment, all you have done is wrongly state that you reached out to me. In what way did you reach out to me?

Nearly 3 months and still no improvement!

User Avatar

It’s been almost three months now since I had the Hyaluronidase and there still isn’t any improvement. I have lines around my nose and mouth which weren’t there before, my face has slightly drooped and my eyes still look terrible. I look years older. If anything it seems to be getting worse. I can feel myself sinking into depression, I can’t help but cry when I think about it or when I look in the mirror. I am having to take myself off to the toilets sometimes at work when I feel my tears welling. With that said, I still will not allow this to beat me. I’m not entirely sure on where I’m going to go from here, I’m considering maybe fat transfer to bring my eyes back to how they were before. I still haven’t decided yet. What I do know, is that I want my face back to how it was a few months ago before all of this.

I just want to add, before this I hadn’t had any filler in my eye area or anywhere else on my face, the only filler I’d had was the 1ml in my lips which, regretfully, I had Hyalurondase to remove. If I’d known of the risks or the incompetence of the ‘Docter’ I would of waited for it to dissolve naturally.

Anyone considering Hyaluronidasde, think very seriously and do plenty of research before making any decisions. Filler should go on its own, the damage of Hyaluonidase could last a lifetime.

Look up Dr Esho in London, he is amazing
July 21, 2018
that's just the thing. I'm not sure if filler does go away on its own. For me it's taking ages..I am still waiting for the restylane in my face to go away, and it's going to be almost 3 years in jan 2018. I look completely asymmetrical and use my hair to hide my cheek. I can't even smile, because my face just looks warped. I keep thinking about getting trace amounts of hyaluronidase to reverse it but am terrified of suffering further damage.
August 28, 2018
I wasted 3 years looking like a freak waiting for Restylane to dissolve under my eyes. It often times does not dissolve, and it rarely ever completely goes away.

I was repeatedly told it couldn't be the filler, as it had been 3 years and I already had one round of hyaluronidase back then.

I tried everything to get my eyes back to normal, and the only thing that gave any improvement was microneedling.

After failing to see further improvement I went to a specialist in filler complications who said I still have filler.

He has now done 1 round with a very conservative amount, injected directly into the filler, and it instantly improved what YEARS of waiting did not accomplish at all.

Right now there's no way I'm not going to do this untill all the filler is flushed out.

There are cases of filler dissolved with hyaluronidase 9+ years after injection.

The longer you wait the more likely it is that the filler has been encapsulated by scar tissue, caused tissue herniation or migrated, making it more difficult to dissolve, and possibly the changes permanent.

I'd definitely recommend hyaluronidase, but it needs to be injected conservatively and directly into the filler.

Hi I have had same problem under my eyes for nearly 18 months . Can you please tell me where you got your treatment from . Thank you

Contact dr esho in London, read up on him he is amazing at sorting out problems and has a good reputation with hyaluronidase. Please keep us updated if you do
November 9, 2018
If anyone out there does get an MRI to see if it shows any of the filler, please, please put a comment to say whether it did in fact show the filler or not. There are conflicting answers from practitioners as to whether an MRI will show a dissolvable filler, however I have seen copies of MRI scans that people have put online that have in fact shown that filler was still in place so it would be very helpful if more examples could be put online from people who have them done and whether they showed any filler or not as an MRI scan is quite an expense to have to pay

It has been over three months now since the Hyaluronidase was injected. As you can see by the photo there still isn’t any improvement. Just over three months ago I had no undereye hollows and I could see my lids. Not anymore.
Hyaluronidase DOES damage your own tissue.
In my case 500 units was used when the recommended dose is 3-75 units. If you find a good cosmetic doctor you may be okay. Do your research and think very carefully before making any decisions.

Terrible this stuff should be banned! And the doctor should be made to pay who the hell do they think they are! There meant too do procedures safely not just chuck a high amount in people’s faces! I had same thing happen with a doctor called DR Sid Guatam from dermaskin Cardiff! I will keep exposing him I will try and ruin his reputation as he’s ruined my life.. even though mines getting abit better I won’t get bk the time I missed wasted on this pain and what he did.. he then ignores me and just takes my money. Doctors Like this shouldn’t be doing these procedures on people’s faces they lie and tell you no risks just to take your money!!! Disgraceful!!
July 27, 2018
DR Sid Guatam told me he used 800iu then after he realised what happen he then said 80iu! He’s not professional at all and the whole thing was very rushed and said no risks to my normal skin took my money and then that was it no follow up nothing... I even complained of burning skin and no reply’s from him.. terrible I’m very sorry your going through this.. I heard the body makes the ha back so maybe there is a light at end of tunnel in time...

September 14, 2018
Hi Nikki, how many units were injected? I’m going through an identity crisis of my own because of dissolving cheek filler. My face looks different and it’s hard to ignore although others can’t notice it at all apparently. I had 28 units for .60 ml in 3 different rounds. Should have just stuck to 2 ...
September 15, 2018
Have you gone or spoke to the doctor who did this? I’m sure they need to give you a explanation why this happend and will you go back to normal. As this is damage temporary or permanent it’s not right, the doctor needs to explain why this happened did he tell you off any risks before hand? I’m sure what this stuff does is dissolved your own hyaluronic acid in skin but I’ve heard it grows back in time.
September 15, 2018
I’m
Sorry for what you going through but you really need to get in contact with who ever did this and get answers.
September 15, 2018
Thank you. I have gone back to them and they assure me that my dosage was so low and the product so thick that it could not cause permanent damage and they have never seen it. They say they don’t see what I see. No one does I’ll be honest about that. I know every inch of my face and I see differences in old pics compared to now... they’re very kind about it all and offer whatever they can to help me but I’m panicked about further procedures and don’t want to chase my tail. I feel like doctors can’t 100% know what hyaluronidase does and at what dose etc. They did go slow (like 6 units first time, 8 units the next and then 24 the next!! That did me in. I should have known to stop or just continue super small. All doctors claim it doesn’t do this or at least that hyaluronic acid should replenish normally as I am 31 not say 65+. How long is anyone’s guess. I can’t imagine those people who get 60-1000 units. I got 35 total and I thought that was too much. Maybe I’ll regenerate. It’s been a month and is hard to say if there’s improvement. Maybe very slight. Definitely not worse I’d say so that’s good. We’ll see.
September 15, 2018
It should regenerate as the body will realise it’s mussing and put it back it just might take time I read someone’s took 5 to 6 months and someone else had hyalourondise and it went all through face but after year and half bk to normal.. just give it time and wait for the body to heal.
September 15, 2018

Mine was for dissolving lip filler too, it’s affected my whole face, mainly my eyes. I’m finding it difficult to live with it but unfortunately I don’t really have much choice, I don’t want to take any risks in making it worse by trying to rectify it. I hadn’t had any other work done before the filler in my lips so the hyaluronidase does definitely affect your natural tissue.

Sorry this has happened to you too. It isn’t right that the doctors that do this can give out false information in regards to the product they are using and are allowed to ruin our faces without any consequences.

hi yes myne was just the lips and i was told there was no chance of it migrating but its literally migrated my whole face its so bad id never had anything done before this i had lips done to plump out the lines forming so they wasnt so obvious but after 2 weeks of being on antibiotics antivirals antihistamines and steroids through a constant allergic reaction it was my only choice but id rather have lived with the reaction that whats happening now im literally devastated and im only on day 6 its ruined my whole face its madness that they are allowed to inject us with such poison it should be banned how you doing now is there any change in your face i feel for you cos i know how you must feel
User Avatar
September 16, 2018
Yes I have. And, no, he didn’t inform me of any risks, I asked him at the time of the procedure and he said it wouldn’t touch my own tissue and my lips would just go back to how they were before.

The doctor that did this isn’t accepting any responsibility. He’s left a reply above to my original post. You can see it underneath my first post. He says it isn’t possible for it to cause damage; when it evidently has. Going by all the postings on this site it causes damage often, mine isn’t just an isolated incident.

I’ve been contacting him since April, he has refused to even look at my face. He did a review at his office once, basically telling me the same rubbish that the majority of other cosmetic doctors say in answers on this site, “that it doesnt damage your own tissue”. Their all in denial. He didn’t even access my face, he barely looked me in the eye. He only contacted me to offer to access any damage after I had left reviews, and he said he would only do this if I were to remove all my reviews immediately. He even states in his reply above that he has tried to reach out to me, this is completely flase. He has point blank refused to even look at any damage caused.

His assistant accidentally included me as a recipient in an email she’s sent to him where she was basically mocking me “saying damaged her own flash, she is just trying to milk it, I don’t believe a word she is saying”. This is completely unprofessional and inconsiderate, I have very obvious damage caused, why would I put myself through all this. It’s actually causing me to become depressed.

I feel the only way forward is to take legal action. I want answers and I want the docter to be held accountable. If I were aware of any possible negative side affects I certainly would not of gone ahead with the procedure.

hi im not sure how much i had it was only in my lips but its definately disdolved my natural tissue around my eyes i will find out how much this has really affected me in every way and i cant do anything to rectify it as i am allergic to fillers so im stuck looking like this i will find put how much i had and will let you know..either way it definately migrated to my eye area which is awful now look like an 60 year old :(
September 14, 2018
How would the hyaluronidase migrate from your lips to your lower eyes? :S
September 14, 2018
I’m so sorry. It’s an awful feeling to not feel like yourself. I’ve become quite body dysmorphic over it and seeking help cause I’ve never felt this way. I honestly can’t say it’s migrated per say for me but I’ve read about this happening to some people. My doctor said the number of units I had over a period of 3 weeks is considered very low and in no way can have permanent affects especially in a young person. I’m at the point where people and family are telling me I’m imagining things. I can’t shake the feeling that they’re wrong and I’m noticing something that has changed in my contours. I sympathize with you. It’s awful. I hope you see some improvement in time, some people on here have.

My problem is 100% tangible, and it's a severe discolouration underneath my right eye, in the shape of a dark circle extending all the way from my tear trough down my cheeks.

I've tried hyaluronidase 3 times now, and it doesn't do anything. This last time I think it looks worse, but it's been 2 days and he injected directly into the discolouration so I am just praying that it'll resolve soon and that I didn't make anything worse.

But I haven't experienced any changes in my skin or volume what so ever from any of the rounds that I got, and the first round was a pretty big dose.

That’s exactly how it is, my “face disintegrating before me” it is so traumatic to go through. I really hope we get justice for what has happened. We’re doing right in speaking up, the more people that do the more recognised it will become of the damage hyaluronidase can cause, and hopefully give others more of an educated decision when choosing if to have hyaluronidase injected into their face.

totally agree with you and after doing research its not actually FDA approved and there was one doctor on here that actually said it does dissolve your own ha i screenshot it to send to the doctor see what she has to say im really struggling right now and its only going to get worse the next few weeks i dread what im going to look like
User Avatar
September 16, 2018
I came across that too, I also took a screenshot and sent it to the doctor. I emailed him a paper as well that clearly states that hyaluronidase causes damage. I’ll see if I can post a link to it, or the webpage address if not.

Yes, they don’t want to except responsibility, instead they try to make out we are mentally ill. It’s the damage the hyaluronidase caused that is causing me anxiety too. The doctors that do this don’t have any morals, that, or their in complete denial. Surely they can’t be that ignorant.

Email and ask for all paperwork nikkisl1 relating to your procedure, it should say on there how much was used. It will give you more of on idea on what further damage (if any) it may course. I think some people have minimum damage, it depends on how much was used. If only a small amount was used you may not have any further damage, and more likely to fully recover. Fingers crossed for you!

Yes, my eyes stung a little at first, they also felt quite itchy and went dry (I’d never had an issue with dry eyes before). Hellos1 had 800 units injected and she is having improvement after well over a year, so there is still hope for us yet. It’s mentally exhausting, I know, we have to try and stay strong. Like you I have children also, it is knowing that my children need me mentally well which is what is getting me through this. It is a struggle each day though, it has got easier over the months, it’s less of a shock now when I see my reflection (still a shock mind), and not something I want to have to get used to.
