I have wanted nose surgery since i was 16 (I am now 23) and I finally took the plunge and booked a consultation with Mr Hassan. I had researched several surgeons and had narrowed it down to Elite Surgical (which is who I went with) and another surgeon in London. As soon as I met Mr Hassan I felt totally at ease and he allayed all of my fears. He answered all my questions, but also gave me a realistic idea of what he would be able to achieve with my nose. After the consultation I didn't feel the need for the consultation with the other surgeon so once I had received my quote through I booked the surgery with Mr Hassan. I only went for the consultation in April and booked the surgery for June so i didn't have to wait long at all.
In terms of the surgery, I had this done at Birmingham BMI. The anaesthetist came and spoke to me beforehand and told me the procedure for the anaesthetic. Mr Hassan also came in and checked the final details of what I wanted my nose to look like and reassured me that I was in safe hands. I have to admit I was absolutely petrified as this was the first time I had undergone an operation. I woke up in the recovery room afterwards and the pain was quite bad so they gave me morphine. The first few days in hospital were pretty horrendous, you can't sleep, you can't breath through your nose so also your taste goes away. But the hospital staff were great and kept making sure I was okay and gave me painkillers as needed. I would say the pain is quite bad, but the packing being take out was by far the worst part. The quicker this is done the better in my opinion.
The days following surgery my nose kept running which made it difficult to eat as I couldn't put my head down. Sleep at night was also not easy as I couldn't breath through my nose, but each day I felt better and better and by the time the cast was removed after 7 days it felt much better.
I am now 6 weeks post op and I am feeling very happy with the results! My nose is still very stiff but i keep massaging it to try and loosen it up. I would say that if you are very unhappy with your nose then it is worth it, but i would also say that it is not for the fainthearted!
