My experience
LiveyourlifenowNovember 8, 2013 WORTH IT$4,001
I had 375cc smooth round saline implants exchanged for 650cc smooth round high profile gel silicone with an Inframammary incision(under the breast). I am 5' 4" 135 lbs. and had lost 40 lbs. prior to my first augmentation and felt like I had lost all of the fullness in my breast, that was the reason I chose to have implants. I, as most women went conservative and later wished I had gone bigger. After my first implants I still felt like I had emptiness in the upper portion of my breasts. I went back to Dr. Hedden and told him I was not concerned with being a size whatever, I just didn't like the way my breast looked naked, that I did not like the emptiness in the upper portion, I just wanted them FULL! He recommended that I go at least 250cc's more to achieve my goal. I also wanted to change to silicone. After trying on sizers I decided to go with 650cc's. I know I was like WHOA, are you nuts..... Everyone is entitled to their own opinions about size, saline/silicone, etc. but when you decide to get implants you have to do it for YOURSELF! But I couldn't be happier and I LOVE MY NEW BREASTS! I was more nervous about my exchange than I was with my initial augmentation. I had no complications the first time and struggled with the decision to go through with the exchange for fear of complications. Every thing went smoothly just as assured by Dr. Hedden and his staff. I awoke in recovery with some discomfort. I was in some pain but no where near the level with my first. This time the discomfort is more at the site of my incision, on the sides and under my arms. It's more like a muscle sprain with soreness than pain. I have had no complications and had no bruising. I work in an office and was able to return to work two days after surgery. The recovery has been nothing like an initial BA. I only took the prescribed pain meds the day of surgery. After that the Valium and Tylenol was sufficient controlling my discomfort. Hope this helps anyone planning an implant exchange.
Congratulations! I'm happy to hear your revision went well. I have heard that it is common to be more nervous about a revision than the initial breast aug surgery. I guess we're more aware of what can go wrong. Thank you for sharing your story on RealSelf. Will you be posting any photos?
