Hi guys. I would like to share my story with you. 16 years ago I had a Mayer Fleming flap done with, despite many may think, excellent results. It looks natural, thick and well distributed over my scalp. The results are immediate and after a couple of days with bandages I was on my way back home. Very professional Doctors. After that I started taking Propecia and while it stopped my likely hair loss, after a fee years I realized that It cant be taken forever and now after 15 years I am off this drug as I am experiencing side effects. Probably over the next few years I'll need a second procedure which I could do at Mayers since the results were so goid but I would like to plan ahead of time what other options ate available nowadays since the hair loss industry evolved so much. Right now I have a head full of hair but in the future who knows. Anyone out there with some advice ? Instead of a second flap maybe scalp reduction and FUE ? Thank you !!!!

Scalp reductions and FUE. 20 years ago I almost had flap but expander was needed and had to be aborted. Dreadful experience but blessing 20 years later that I did scalp reductions and transplants. Fleming was my doctor back then. Glad I found a better solution. Regardless. Long road either way. Do you have photos of your hairline?

I had Dr. Flemming do the flap for me at around age 40 about 20 years ago with brow-lift and a scalp reduction. It was kind of like a middle age equivalent to a 50,000, mile major service on an expensive car. GREAT results. I was told I would need a second flap within 10 years, but thanks to Rogain it hasn't become necessary. I had blonde hair (typically fine) which has now gone white & silver. I am glad I had the procedure at that time when I had plenty of money and free time. I worked out good and I consider Dr. Flemming to be a very fine doctor. If a second flap was needed and my budget would allow, I would not hesitate to go back. After all this time, I still get compliments on how "lucky" I am to have good hair and look sexy in my 60s I just smile with genuine humility and sincerely say "thank you". :-)
I'm so glad it all went well for you and the results have lasted so long. Is there a general life-span to the procedure you had? You mention that you will mostly likely need a second surgery, is this common or is it because you have had to stop taking the medication?
