Upper Lip Lift and Medialized Corner Lip Lift - Beverly Hills, CA

I wanted to improve the proportions of my face for...

anna_suisse
WORTH IT$23,400
I wanted to improve the proportions of my face for a better balanced, harmonious and youthful appearance. The lip lift was one of the proceedures as I have always have a rather long upper lip and that combined with a short nose did not look proportional.
I came las fall from Europe and had consultations with three different surgeons. My gut feeling was to go with Dr Haworth.

Consultation:
I was brought to a consultation room and offered refresments. The staff is very kind. The waiting time was long but once the doctor came he took all the time I needed to discuss thoroughly about my case (it involved multiple proceedures). He really listened to me and treated my views and wishes with respect (not all phycisians do that). He made a very serious, reliable and professional impression. I left the consultation with a good feeling (and all the financial information about my surgeries).

After I returned Europe I still had a 60+ minutes telephone consultation with Dr Haworth where he in detail discussed with me of all my planned proceedures (I had emailed his administrator my questions in advance so that he could prepare for our second consultation).

My operation was set for April the 6th and prior the operation the staff of Dr Haworth kept regurlarly in touch with me. The whole team is very friendly, accomodating and willing to take that extra step for the comfort and well being of their patients.

Day of the surgery:
I was greeted by my surgical nurse who was brisk and positive. She got me changed into the hospital gown and compression socks and introduced me to the rest of the team. She made me feel like I was part of the team myself! After a while, Dr Haworth came to the treatment room (not the operating theatre) and did some small talk to relax me. Then he started marking my face. He had special jewellers glasses (with loops) on and a device (I don't know its name) which he used to measure by the millimeter the surgery schetches he drew on my face. The marking took a long time, maybe 45 minutes. He was in no rush.
I was lead to the operating theater which I had already visited with my nurse. My anestesian started with sedatives and I remember joking what good stuff it is.

I will add photos in the next post once I learn how to use the site.

Was the 23K cost inclusive of the oxygen chamber or was that an extra cost? If so, how many days/hours were you in the chamber and at what extra cost? Can you give your before and after measurements?
May 6, 2017
I paid for the Medialized Corner Lip Lift 8,200$ and the Upper Lip Lift 15,200$ plus additional costs for the surgical centre and anesthesiologist. The office of Dr Haworth organized the three first hyperbaric treatments and also drove me from Beverly Hills to Santa Monica. I booked myself an additional of eight treatments because I saw how much they brought my swelling down and increased my well being noticeably. One 90-minute hyperbaric was 300$.
I will see my doctor for the laser treatments in two weeks and ask for the before measurements. I find them difficult to measure here at home but my current measurement seems to be 5mm.

Hi, your nose looks good after too. Some of them have wider noses after this is done, your nostrils are still small. Does that mean the doctor did not cut into the SILLS? Some of them cut into the SILLS? I think that means they cut up over the hole of the nose. Did this doctor cut the muscle because I heard that is not good.
May 6, 2017
This doctor does a muscle hemming lip lift.
May 7, 2017
He does not cut into the muscle. I had same procedure with him. The surgery that cuts into the cills in subnasal or Italian lip lift. Dr Haworth does not cut into the cills and he does not cut the muscle.
May 7, 2017
A doctor that cuts into the cills is Dr Horndeski from Texas. Look at the base of his patients noses in his reviews. Some are missing cills and some have very wide noses over a year post op. I do think it is normal to have nose swelling at one month post op, but this woman looks like she is healing very well.

What?? You paid over 15,000usd for upper lip lift?!?
That does not make ANY SENSE.
Your doctor overcharged you ,, or you have the number wrong.
That is ridiculous .

That sounds like she's been robbed
May 21, 2017
Lol u kill me^
You so dry and witty.
I have a feeling the flights and the stays are included,,
Something doesn't add up,,
May 21, 2017
I thought my answer would go under your reply tmurphy, it didn't so I will try again.
"No that is what he charges and actually it's more because you need to pay separate for anesthesia and surgical center. Plus if you need a nurse for the first night that is extra.
May 21, 2017
A nurse and a night stay for a lip lift?
I must be missing something!
In any case ,, u look great,, but I think you spent too much. Imho

Ha ha. Really??!! I went home right after, and texted my friends and watched tv. I was fine, just a bit tired :-)
May 21, 2017
Hi tmurphy, I am not the patient from this review, but I know what he charges. Everything she reported is true.
May 22, 2017
He is a celebrity . I used to watch his show lol
It wasn't just a "lip lift" that was done... so that explains the difference.
May 22, 2017
Try again to get my answer in the right spot. lOL.

Tmurphy, below is her stated breakdown of the costs. YES, she paid 15,200 for the liplift. She also had a corner lip lift and stated that she had a rhino, chin reduction and fat injections so those costs were extra. Based on his prices I suspect everything all together must be close to 80,000 or 100,000. She wrote,
"I paid for the Medialized Corner Lip Lift 8,200$ and the Upper Lip Lift 15,200$ plus additional costs for the surgical centre and anesthesiologist."
May 22, 2017
She had two different types of lip surgeries, maybe it is difficult to view them clearly in pictures due to swelling and her incision scars are so faint. Two surgeries increases the price. The corner lip lift, lifts the corners and I can see he cut above her upper lip around the top lip, which is his medialized corner lip lift. This surgeon is worth every penny in my opinion. His lip lifts do not look like others I see on this site. There is no comparison. I do not think $15,000. for a procedure that involves a very visible portion of your face is too much. The same thing with his other facial procedures, that involve almost scar less facelifts. He is by far the best in his field and no other surgeon has done thousands of lip lifts over the span of over 20 years. Some of the surgeons charging $5,000. on this site just started doing lip lifts within the last year or two, and to me it shows. Dr Haworth's lip lifts are more complex and take longer to do, are under sedation in his surgery center and include post op laser, injections and scar treatments. I have not seen any other surgeon on this site offer after surgery laser treatments and scar treatments included with their lip lift. It is unfortunate that there is a lot of misinformation out there about the differences in these procedures as well as differences in skill set of surgeons. Anyone can call his office for pricing. It is not a secrete. I have yet to see another surgeon who can cut around the top lip and leave it scar less like he can. I had lower facelift and he hid the incisions inside of my ear and hair. I had a brow lift a few months ago with him and again, no visible scars. He may be known a a celebrity surgeon, that is because celebrities for the most part seek the best plastic surgeons. I do not think every woman needs to have an expensive lip lift as some just need a slight change and it is good we have choices. For myself my upper lip was almost non existent, and inverted especially when I smiled. I could not even have Juvaderm placed in my upper lip because it was too thin. So in my case I needed several procedures. His upper lip lift pulls the inside tissue outward so you have more actual lip. With skin only lip lifts the increase is minimal, in my opinion. I also did not want nose distortion from pull down of lip lift. He sutures deeper and it helps prevent that. After he sutures he runs a laser over the incisions. I had several post op appointments after my lip lifts, where he used a laser.

Whoa,, cool your jets.
Surgery is always a gamble,, no matter whose hands hold the knife.. just to be clear.
He is without question a great surgeon,, no one said otherwise.
Because someone does great work, others need not be minimalized. He charges those fees bc of his location and celebrity status.
Plenty of great surgeons. ,, and not everyone drives a Maserati ,, some like the way a Volvo drives better lol
May 22, 2017
I agree tmurphy, and as a matter of fact all doctors have good and bad reviews including him. LOL there are plenty of celebrities who go to other plastic surgeons, in fact many see surgeons outside of Beverly Hills.

Reading this thread with interest. There was, at least a while ago, a picture on here of someone with their sills cut out (1 star review) from this same doctor so there WAS one instance where he cut into the sills.
May 6, 2017
Did you have other procedures. I noticed you seem to have bruises under your eyes on a couple of pics. Also curious why you have a bandage on your chin. Did you get something done there?

I don't think you needed the outside lift, it does not seem to make much difference. I have seen others with this, they did not say they had general anesthesia.
May 14, 2017
I needed the general anesthesia because I had multiple procedures.

How old are you? Because you look really young on the photo's you posted. In all honestly you looked better before you did anything. IMHO. I'm sorry but why?? I know you're probably not completely healed but there isn't much difference besides your mouth looks like it won't close right and fashion changes constantly. The next fade could be thin lips like in the 60's & 70's.. You just look so darn young ...
May 14, 2017
Well, I am no school girl anymore but I prefer not to share my age here. Thanks for the compliment anyway! I have always looked younger than I was. I'm a model so I also need to keep looking young.
In case you don't like the volume of my lips, remember I am at 1/3 of in my healing process.
May 15, 2017
You looked beautiful before. Beautiful after. Not a whole lot of difference for the price but as long as you are happy that's all that matters!!
May 15, 2017
Thanks! I'm happy with the improvements (although I am still in recovery). I don't want to put photos here that show my whole face but the reality is that my facial proportions are better now and that's what is most important to me.
May 16, 2017
Understood. Well you look like a beautiful girl regardless. I hope you heal soon and continue to look amazing!!!All the best to you!!

I am now four weeks post op and healing. The area below my eyes, cheeks and upper lip is still quite stiff. The incisions and the surrounding skin are red but improving. I will receive laser therapy to ensure best possible scar appearance (actually Dr Haworth lasered all the incisions in the end of my operation).

I like that he takes his time with markings. He is truly an artist. You may have some tightness under your nose for a number of months, up to a year but every month it gets better. The first 4 months is the worst, actually the first month is the worst, then at 4 months everything gets a lot better. This is at least what happened to me. I know things feel strange and may look strange but in another few weeks you should notice a big difference. It looks like you are going to have a REALLY good result.

Hey, that's nice to hear!

Hello, did the doctor do anything to your chin and lower lip? The result looks great!
May 8, 2017
Thanks! I had a chin reduction to improve my proportions and I'm really happy for the results although apparently the swelling is last to go from the chin. Nothing to the lower lip.
April 25, 2020
You look amazing!! For the jaw reduction did he shave your bone or what?
