So Happy with my New Nose - Beverly Hills, CA

ORIGINAL POST

I wasn't going to write a review initially because I wanted to keep my rhinoplasty as secret as possible. However, I have been recently seeing a few bad reviews for Ghavami and it really breaks my heart, because he's a great surgeon and I think a lot of the people posting on here really have issues with the staff or just have unrealistic expectations. I had gone to see a few doctors before deciding on Ghavami and I am so happy I did. I came in with my mom and Dr. Ghavami explained what could be done with my nose and how he was going to align my vision for my face with his, and this really put my mind at ease. Though our conversation was brief it was direct and informative and the way he spoke showed that he really wanted what was best for me which put both my mom and I at ease. Which to be realistic, if my mom didn't like him there was no way I would have gone through with it. After my initial consult I scheduled my surgery with Rose for summer but, through a turn of events I had a better opening in my schedule for the end of March which Rose so kindly helped me arrange and I got my surgery done a couple months sooner than I had planned. I had a pretty typical Persian nose, my dad's actually, it was manly, big, my tip was flat and round, my profile was a huge bump and I have had a serious issue with it all my life. On top of the physical aspects I didn't care for, my nose was deviated and I had a hard time breathing, especially when I worked out. Anyways, fast forward it's been about 3 weeks and though I am still in the process of healing and am still swollen I am absolutely in love with my nose! It is feminine, pretty and makes all the other features of my face stand out. And I still look Persian, and in the best way, a natural Persian, not the stereotypical very upturned nose that most Persian women in LA seem to have. The most important part to me was that after this process I would still look like myself and I do, Dr. Ghavami made subtle changes that made all the difference in my confidence. I just started a new job and it is crazy how much more comfortable and confident I feel meeting new people when I don't have to worry about what angle to face them at. The only thing that concerned me when I got my cast taken off for the first time was that my nostrils were different sizes, but as soon as I mentioned it to Dr. Ghavami he assured me that It's probably swelling. However if I'm still not happy with the sizes in 6 months that I should pick the nostril I like the best and that he can fix them to match for me right there in his office. Which was such amazing and surprising thing to hear, having a surgeon who is humble enough to acknowledge something so minimal with my nose, instead of just telling me that I am overreacting or that no one will notice it (something I have had friends experience with other plastic surgeons) made me believe that I made the right decision in picking Dr. Ghavami, he is caring and a perfectionist, something that you need when dealing with your face. So bottom line would I recommend that you look to Dr. Ghavami for your rhinoplasty? Absolutely! I am so pleased with my experience and I would hope anyone who decides to have a rhinoplasty would have just as great an experience as I have had.

He nailed my revision too. I mean, I was a mess before, and he knocked it out of the park. I have already been to my 6 months appointment and I had a similar experience as you--I pointed out things I was concerned with and he let me know that they could be corrected if need be at the one year mark, and he even described HOW he would go about fixing it, and what it might be, if it's not swelling that hasn't yet resolved. I definitely think He has a LOT of patients like you--people who don't want to announce to the world that they had plastic surgery. Usually online, it's people who are not happy and are trying to warn others. The happy patients just kind of go on their merry way and don't think to come on here. Most of the people I've encountered online in forums like this are presurgical, and looking for a doctor, or they come to ask the experts a question...stuff like that.

Your nose is gorgeous!! Yes, I agree online reviews are tricky it's like finding a restaurant on yelp---the people who write reviews are usually only the handful of people who didn't have a great experience because if they did they probably wouldn't take the time out their day to write a review about it.

Also the entirety of the experience doesn't end at an unsatisfactory result. As a patient, it's important to advocate for yourself and get your surgeon on board with going in again for touch up work or revision work. It's an emotionally charged topic and it's easy to vent online if there's a waiting period between the recognition of an issue, and the day you can fix it. Staring at it every day until it can be fixed is crazy making, and I'm sure a lot of people vent their frustration by lashing out at the surgeon, regardless of what they know currently about what it may take to fix. Honestly, I have a tendency to side with patients when it comes to negative experiences. But I do think it's a complex and emotional issue when it's something like surgery and both sides to the story might not be immediately evident
