For those of you considering lip lift/aumentation surgery and are interested in Dr. Haworth in Bev Hills, CA be prepared to take out a second mortgage to afford his outrageous fees.
I called to day and here is a run-down of what I was quoted:
1) Consultation $500 - which is about 5x the amount most plastic surgeon’s charge for a consult ($100) and this was going to be via telephone to boot not even in person.
2) Lip Lift $9K - yes that is not a typo, this is 3x the most expensive price I have been quoted to date ($3K) is avg price for a full lip lift including muscle hemming/folding
3) Corner lift $5.5K- which is about 3x the amount most plastic surgeons’ charge ($2K)
4) V-Y Plasty $5.5K - which is about 2x the amount most plastic surgeon’s charge ($3K)
5) Fat graft to the lips $6K - which is about 3x the amount most plastic surgeons’ charge ($2K)
Personally I find these prices outrageous and clearly aimed at the celebrity/very wealthy only crowd. So if you have these procedures through this doctor at a min you are looking at $26.5K plus any travel expenses if you are from out of town versus most other highly reputable practices of $10K a whopping 2.7x increase - almost three times the going rate in CA and across the nation.
Really, this practice should be ashamed …

I am a patient who had the above procedures with Dr Haworth. I do not believe some of your comparisons are being fair to my surgeon, but agree he is expensive. I do think in his case you get what you pay for. I do not know what upper lip lift you received a quote on, but he does at least two different types of upper lip lifts, as well as two different types of corner lip lifts and also lower lip procedures. I also researched this procedure and many of your comparisons are comparing surgeons who are not doing it in an operating room without anesthesia. I agree that there is an expense to do all of the procedures listed above, but it really does make a huge improvement on your face. Not all patients are going to need the procedures you listed above, that I had done. My lips were very thin, and my corners were turned down. There are other reviews with pictures of his patients on this site in which he did upper lip lift only. The time spent on doing all of these procedures is part of the expense.I am now getting close to 5 months post op and my fat transfer has lasted as well as my lip procedures. My scars are not visible. I previously had a fat transfer years ago by another surgeon and 10% of the transfer lasted. I estimate around 50% to 75% of Dr Haworth's fat transfer has lasted. This is a great result. I understand you wrote a review of this doctor from a phone quote, but I can write as an actual patient he is worth it.

Thank you for posting your experience. It will help others make their decision. There are many good surgeons out there who do great lip lifts. Take your time and do your research. You will be rewarded in the end.

I just re-read your "review" and I originally thought it was done by an actual patient who had a phone consult. It appears you called and asked for pricing but never even consulted or met with this surgeon. I have never seen a bad review about a phone call for a quote. I am actually shocked someone would give such a review about a doctor they never encountered. I thought these reviews were supposed to be from actual patients and not someone who gets upset about a doctors prices. I disagree that any surgeon should be ashamed about their pricing. I do not understand this review at all.

Hi westsidegirl, I should have clarified my response. The author of this review never had a consult with Dr Haworth and is comparing pricing for a skin only lip lift which most surgeons do in their office in 20-30 minutes to a muscle hemming lip lift that takes longer, is done in an operating room under sedation with an anesthesiologist. This is not the same procedure. It is like comparing a mini face lift (skin only done in an office) to a full face lift that is done in an operating room that takes much longer and involves tightening muscles. Since this person did not have a consult with Dr Haworth they would not know why the price difference. Dr Haworth also has 20 years experience with lip lifts and has done over a thousand. I do believe those surgeons who have more experience do charge more. I do not know if his prices for lower v-y lip lift and corner lip lift are comparable to other surgeons because I could not find another surgeon who did all 3 of these procedures, and the ones who did corner lip lifts did not have any before/after pictures. There are not a lot of plastic surgeons who do lip lifts and it is not a standard surgery. It is becoming more popular and surgeons are now starting to do lip lifts, but Dr Haworth does his own version of this procedure and again I do not think it is fair to compare his lip lift to a skin only lip lift. I admit I am biased as I have had all of the procedures written above by Dr Haworth. In my opinion he is worth every penny. Everyone picks their surgeon for their own reasons and my surgeon may not be for everyone but I think it is good that we have choices.

Thank you for your comment. I had the same problem. I called to get an appointment for a Lip lift and inquired about the cost of the lip lift and turning up the smile and his Surgery scheduler Nurse quoted me 20,000.00 I chocked inside and wondered who is this Dr. ? So greedy or is it that billionaire movie actors go to him so he feels entitled to demand these kinds of outrages prices.. I'm surprised he has any clients at all.. You're right he is way way over and above expensive compared to most plastic surgeons in Calif.. I refuse to him my money when other Dr's can do the same lip lift , even better and charge 2,500-3,000. Unbelievable. Common sense people. Check around for cheeper prices!!!

He does not charge 20,000. for an upper lip lift. I believe he currently charges around 10,000. You mention above you also asked about the procedure of turning up the smile. That is another surgery all together called corner lip lift. I know because I also had this procedure. I assume you were quoted for two surgeries. The corner lip lift incision is located on corners of mouth and cheek. Most surgeons are not skilled to even do this procedure. An inexperienced doctor can leave bad scars. My corner lip lift scar by Dr Haworth is not visible at all. I can cannot see it whatsoever. If a surgeon screws this up, you can look like the joker, and can leave a bad scar on your face, so I would be very selective in who you choose to do a corner lip lift. Dr Haworth's upper lip lift is not the same procedure the other doctors are doing which is skin only lip lifts. Dr Haworth's lip lift is done in a operating room under sedation, with a anesthesiologist, is more detailed and takes longer for him to do. Not to mention he has done over a thousand lip lifts, possibly more than anyone else in the world. Aesthetically his lip lifts in my onion produce a better result and shows a fuller top lip that curls out. His technique is done to reduce the amount of pull on the lip to increase longevity, reduce nasal distortion and scar. I do not feel it is fair to compare pricing for a different type of procedure that takes more skill set and longer to do. Dr Haworth also lasers the scar on the day of surgery and will laser it on a post op apt if needed, and this is included in the price. I know because I had a post op laser treatment. This surgery completely changed my face for the better. It was well worth the amount to me. I am not wealthy either, not even close to being wealthy.There are risks with this procedure as well, no matter where you go. I believe you dramatically decrease those risks going to a surgeon who has done more of these than any one else. You have the right to choose where you go and how much you spend. I just want others to know this doctor does not ONLY treat the wealthy, and this is not the same surgery you are comparing. I am all for shopping for a good deal, but for my face I want the best. Be careful with shopping for the cheapest for plastic surgery, especially when it is your face. I defend him because I know his skill set, have had this surgery with him and most of all because he is my doctor.

Vernali, I just wanted to respond so you would have accurate info on this procedure as I have had upper lip lift and corner lip lift with Dr Haworth. I think there is some inaccurate info out there about the procedures and pricing . I picked Dr Haworth due to what I wrote above.You have the right to go to anyone you choose. This is so great we have choices. I wish you the best with whomever you choose.

Vernali, I had a upper lip lift last year with Dr Haworth and the price was no where near 20 grand. I wonder if there was a misunderstanding on your quote?

Thank you for your reply. I thought the very same thing. This must be a mistake?? .. But the Nurse or person who works the finances reitorated that price again, because I was apualed to say the least!! You know-- He's not the only Dr. In this world who does nice work. There Are many Amazing Dr's in this universe who do amazing work and charge reasonable amount which help's the middle and lower class Look beautiful and feel good about their appearance. Dr. Haworth should be ashamed of these prices..
