When I first saw Dr. Emer I was curious about things I could do just to overall improve my skin. I should state that I'm a male in my 20's and other than the occasional stress induced blemish my skin was pretty good. Anyway he recommended that I could have a Fraxel Laser procedure, I was excited to learn that not only was it a procedure that could immediately improve smoothness and blemishes in your skin, but also over time helps naturally produce more collagen in your face helping fight aging. So I agreed that this is what I wanted and he then prescribed me some skin regiments to go about preparing my face for the Fraxel the next week.
IMPORTANT* For any one else out there that can tend to be slightly neurotic or paranoid about something going wrong READ THIS.* My career is based on my appearance so needless to say I could be losing a lot by putting my face in someone else's hands. So naturally when I got home I started searching the internet about people's opinion on Fraxel. Of course I centered on finding all the things that could go wrong, needless to say I felt like backing out my appointment. I contacted Dr. Emer and expressed my concern. He was very patient with me and reassured me that many reviews come from people who went to Spas for Fraxel or just untrained doctors who used too strong of a laser. And if I kept to the skin regiment he put me on for my skin since I am of mixed race, everything would be fine. Feeling reassured I agreed to keep with my appointment.
So fast forward to the day of the procedure. The process is quite simple, so went in and laid down as a cooling Anesthesia gel was applied to my face. Once it had time to take effect Dr. Emer came in to start the Fraxel. The laser it's self as it goes over your skin, I will say feels quite uncomfortable, but knowing I was in good hands put me at ease. After a short time it was done and after giving instructions on care of my skin in days to come I was ready to go home. Looking in the mirror you will see your face kind of looks like it has been sun burnt which is normal.
In conclusion today I could not be happier that I let Dr. Emer work on my face. I thought I had good skin before I went to see him, since then I can't imagine going back to way my skin was before. My skin is smoother and clearer than it has ever been in my life.
