I have suffered with multiple issues on my face: acne scars from years with cystic acne, sun damage (I'm part of the unfortunate generation who weren't made aware of the damaging effects), rough skin from early menopause without HRT, rosacea and telngiectasias, a dog bite scar, and finally just bad genetics! Very challenging problems. My former dermatologist told me repeatedly "there's really nothing you can do...nothing really works".
I discovered Dr. Emer on Real Self and was first interested by the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I went for a consultation and he encouraged me that there were many things we could do. He performed Fraxel on my face and concentrated CO2 on only the worst areas: nose and bite scar. I had amazing improvement on my bite scar that was flattened and smoothed. I didn't expect such an improvement! The Fraxel did improve some texture issues and we will follow up with radio frequency to try to get even better results. I appreciate Dr. Emer's careful approach by proceeding with caution to check for improvement, then following up with stronger treatments if needed. I recently returned to have a Yellow Laser treatment for persistent capillaries on my nose as well as TCA cross for large ice pick scars. The capillaries disappeared (I'm crossing my fingers that it starts this way-they are GONE) and I will wait to see how TCA cross works. Very few doctors offer TCA cross and Dr. Emer has experience with it and has seen good results. If there is improvement, I will be thrilled. After two weeks, we will check the result and proceed with higher concentration, if necessary.
Dr. Emer is passionate about his work. He is on the cutting edge of technology, always traveling to train other doctors, testing new lasers. He is experienced in many treatments. I am so grateful he is here in Los Angeles. He is such a caring and compassionate doctor and a genuinely warm and accessible person. I know he has celebrity clientele, VIPs, models, in Beverly Hills, but he genuinely treats ALL of his patients with sincere concern and wants his patients to have the best results possible.

It sounds as if we have similar skin problems! I am older now and the scars are getting worse as my skin is getting looser, they are more apparent than when the skin was tight across them. I have bad veins on my nose, I can barely cover them anymore. I am scared of lasers because of the bad outcomes for many people here on REALSELF, especially the ones that get holes over the entire face. I am afraid of thermage and Ultherapy because it melts underlying fat, which makes people lose youthful contours. I hope your skin has continued to improve under this doctor's care. I live in the L.A. area also. Can you let us know how things are for you?
