I am a 16 year old Hispanic male. Dr. Rahban performed otoplasty (ear surgery) on me. My ears were not in proportion; one was bigger than the other and the bigger one would noticeably stick out. I made a serious decision at age 15, I spoke to my mother and she spoke to my dad because I didn't feel comfortable talking to him about a cosmetic surgery. Fortunately there wasn't a problem at home so we proceeded to the next step. My mom found Dr. Rahban online through patient reviews. The first day we arrived at the office everyone was nice and welcoming, that didn't change at all. (from the first to the last day) I am 100% sure you will experience the same hospitality. Dr. Rahban was the most nicest and straight-forward doctor I've met. He told me the procedure I needed and explained it in the most lucid way possible. He located certain types of strings inside my ears to hold the shape and positioning of my ears. The day of the surgery was quick, I arrived and before I knew it I was out. (Dr. Rahban doesn't perform surgeries in his office which I think is good.) The aftermath of the surgery was painful; I don't remember being able to sleep that night, but then again almost any surgery causes one to experience something similar to that. The recovery was quick! There are no scars around the exterior of my ears, the stitches are behind my ears where they are not noticeable. I am very very pleased with the results...there's a HUGE difference from now and a while back !! BUT, just like any other medical/cosmetic, the patient has to put their part, listen to Dr. Rahban's instructions and you will be pleased with the results as well. Honestly I don't think this review is enough to thank Dr. Rahban and his staff. My family and I are very pleased and thankful we found Dr. Rahban. I am sure you will receive the same hospitality and grateful experience I witnessed no matter what procedure you're planning on receiving.

Hi There. Congratulations on a successful procedure! Any chance you could post some before and after pictures?

Did you have sny scars at all on the back of your ears? This is what I fear the most

They are very very minimal. Only if you play really close attention can you see them. It's been approximately a year since the surgery and only once have I been asked by someone why I have "something that looks like a scar" in the back of my ear. This was asked by a peer who was sitting behind me in class. I played it off by saying I wasnt sure what she was talking about and it ended there. Once again, I'm a high school student so the number of people who have sat behind me and seen the back of my ears is countless. Only once have I been questioned. It's really important that you not pick the scabs after surgery as this can leave a scar. Follow all instructions and take all medications/lotions and you'll be fine. Recovery will be painful the first couple of nights but it will be worth it, trust me. Now I get any haircut I want, and feel more comfortable taking pictures. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other concerns.

I've uploaded pictures now. You can't see any scars besides one which remains because I wasn't careful with my recovery. I don't mind the scar at all to be honest, but if you don't want a single scar then be very careful with your recovery and listen to all instructions.

Thank you for your quick answer. It seems like it worked out for you. After removing the stitches, how much time did it take for your ears to look natural, with no scars ( if you didn't pick the scabs)? See, I'm having oroplasty soon and 2 weeks after after removing my stitches I'm going to see my parents overseas hoping they will not notice any marks or swelling. I keep my hair short so there is no way to hide anything.

Sorry for the delay of the pictures. As you can see I have only one before picture. The disproportion in my ears caused me to take little to no pictures of myself. I have this really good picture before the surgery but can't find it. As for now all I have is this. I'll post the other one if I can find it.
Secondly, if you decide to proceed with the surgery it is VERY IMPORTANT that you follow all of Dr. Rahban's instructions. I have a scar on my right ear because I picked the scab that was remaining, all the other scabs fell off but the one I picked at. If I would have followed the intructions carefully and kept on using the treatment for the scars after they fell off, my ears would be flawless.
I definitely would recommend anyone to do this surgery under Dr. Rahban. I am
not disappointed with the results and neither will you.
Good luck!
P.S. The tiny hole that appears by one of my ears has nothing to do with the surgery. It was there before; it's fair to say I was born with that, or at least the hole has been around for a very long time.

Congratulations on a successful surgery! It's so great that you had the support of both you mom and dad, and that you found a doctor that you felt comfortable with and gave you the results you wanted. Are you comfortable sharing before and after photos with the community?
