I have gone to 2 in-person consultations with local doctors and had one Skype consultation with an out-of-town doctor.

Is anyone out there considering Dr. Most at Stanford or Dr. Charles S Lee in Beverly Hills, and exchange info or encourage each other? I am so anxious and all I can think about is my nose and surgery!

check out dr don yoo

Thank you. I did look into Dr. Yoo, but he is super super expensive! Are you happy with your outcome?

Oh and by the way, I've read your detailed log! So informative! Thank you for sharing your experience :)

swelling is not linear so when it is at its smallest, i really love the result but when it swells back up it makes me miserable. So I am happy but I don't want to say I'm happy just yet because theres so much more healing to be done.
April 12, 2016
I guess you just have to be patient.... When it swells, is it noticeable to people (co-workers, for example)? Or is it noticeable only to you? I'm not going to tell anyone about my surgery and I'm planning to go back to work after 2 weeks. Maybe I'm being naive here!
April 12, 2016
People will notice but they can't pin whats going wrong with you. Especially if you come into work with freshly peeled tape and its at its smallest and then inflates in swelling over time. Some at work have thought it was allergies and if I didn't want to tell people I had work done I just agree with them.
April 12, 2016
LOL you just agree with them. Yeah I'm thinking I'll be doing the same. I'm also planning to cut my hair pretty short before going back to work, so I can blame that "something different" on my hair style :) Thanks so much to responding. It's been informative! I can't wait to have mine done.

NP. I let my hair grow out due to having rib cartilage rhinoplasty. The incision from the side of my temple caused temporary hair loss. i usually blame my difference in looks to my awkward stage of hair growth but if they want to make a logical excuse for me then yeah I'll just agree. If they ask if I had work done then I also say yeah. Sometimes you just want to look good without having to tell every single person what was done to change you and why you chose to do it (it can get extremely tiring) besides the people close to you.

Hi! How is your swelling? Does it still come and go? Do you still tape your nose at night?
I've booked my surgery with Dr. Lee on June 6! I'm so excited. I just hope I won't regret this decision.
April 24, 2016
Its come down a lot. I can feel with my fingers where the last amount of swelling is, which is mainly in the tip and supra tip. feels round and squishy like theres something underneath. I still tape my nose at night yes, i dont know if it still helps at this point but I still do it to give me a visual of how my nose will contour when the last of the swelling goes away. Its very nice at this point and should be only getting better.

Hi there, how's your research coming along -- have you found a doctor yet?

April 25, 2016
Yes, Dr. Charles S. Lee on June 6! Been reading up on people's rhinoplasty experience here to get mentally prepared. Very nervous and excited at the same time!

Surgery Date Set with Dr. Lee!

rwgch
My surgery date with Dr. Charles S. Lee has been set for June 6, 2016, only 33 days away!!! I can't believe this is actually happening at this stage of my life. I've always been unhappy with my short nose and round nostrils, but never had the courage or time (or chance, really) to do anything about it until now. I've thought of traveling to Korea, Japan or Thailand for Asian rhinoplasty, but as I got further into my research, I just didn't feel comfortable with the logistics and the idea of flying so far away for a procedure of which you could be looking at years to see the final outcome. Needless to say I'm happy to have found a doctor who specializes in Asian rhinoplasty only 5.5 hours away! His after-photos show very natural looking noses and I happen to like his sense of aesthetics. I'm confident that he'll make my nose look sharper and longer enhancing my whole face!

I'm also contemplating on having ThermiTight done at the same time for my neck and lower cheeks hoping that the procedure would sharpen my jawline and help keep it that way for a few more years until more invasive procedure is needed.

Going for It Finally, Surgery Date Set!

rwgch

Thank you for sharing your journeys on RealSelf! I've been reading a lot of your rhinoplasty experiences and it is really helping me mentally get ready for my own surgery!

I've always hated my short nose with big round flared nostrils that are visible from the front. It seems to have gotten worse with age, too, like the nose is sinking into my face (?)
I've entertained the thought of getting a rhinoplasty for years, but I started looking into it seriously at the beginning of last year. I've actually had a total of 4 consultations before I decided on Dr. Charles S. Lee in Beverly Hills.

Even though I am not in the area, I chose Dr. Lee because 1) I love his natural "after" photos and trust his sense of aesthetics on Asian faces; 2) Dr. Lee himself always responds to my emails and texts promptly which is amazing considering how busy he must be. His nurse Misako is also extremely gracious and always makes time to talk on the phone or text if I have questions; 3) His office provides apartments for out-of-town patients at an incredibly low rate.

I am looking to have 1) my nose tip lengthened and projected by cartilage grafts; 2) my flared nostrils narrowed by alarplasty, and possibly 3) alar rim grafts to bring down the nostril walls to match the lengthened tip.

My pre-op consultation (where I meet Dr. Lee for the first time in person) is set for May 14, and my surgery date is June 6. I am excited and soooo ready for this!!!

I am so excited for you! Can you keep us updated? I'm considering a procedure too but am nervous about getting poor results/the recovery period
May 24, 2016
I'm also very nervous, too... Lately I've been having more negative thoughts than positive as the surgery gets closer! So many what-if's.... What if the scars don't heal well? What if the doctor makes my nose too tall, too narrow, too low, etc? What if I miss my old nose? What if it looks obviously "done"? arghhhh
Where are you? Who are you considering?

I would say that your goals were definitely met. You look great! I'm glad you didn't touch your bridge. Not everyone needs to have the same bridge!
August 15, 2016
Lola, thank you so much! Yes, I had an OK bridge to begin with, so I didn't want to touch it. This way, I still look like myself, only more elegant (if I say so myself), lol.

Exactly! ☺️☺️

What cartilage was used for your nose tip? septal or ear or rib?
