So start off with a little bit about me I am 40 years old and a mom of three (10 years old, 2 years old, and 8 months), never in a million years would I have ever thought about sharing my tt journey. Not because of any other reason, but the fact that I'm super private and putting myself out there is just not normally something I would do. However, I feel that after my extensive research in finding the right Doctor it is my obligation to share my view and experience after seeing so many surgeries gone bad while researching.

I spent countless hours and late nights researching multiple doctors, websites and referrals and time and time again was very unimpressed with the results I was seeing. Put it this way, I started researching doctors after my second baby (who is now 2.5 years old), but didn't actually have surgery until 6 months after my third baby (February 2016). Do you know how many tummy tucks I looked at? Thousands upon thousands. I was signed up on every surgery site there was, obsessed well yes...just a little bit. After cumulative hours and late night web crawls I had finally narrowed it down to 5 doctors. These doctors were located as close as 2 hours away in Beverly Hills, Ca and as far as Miami Beach, Fl. I knew that this surgery was going to be life changing and being a bit on the vain side I wanted to make sure my results were perfect - hence why I researched it till I was blue in the face!

The three things that were important to me with the results I wanted to achieve, were the following (and in no particular order):
1. Shape and size of belly button
2. Symmetry, thickness, and straightness of the incision
3. Lowest lying incision line possible

When choosing my surgeon, I decided that price was not going to be a factor and this is where I firmly believe the "get what you pay for factor comes in". While researching I saw hundreds upon hundreds of botched surgeries, that required some type of revision - the same trend occurred over and over again of where people mentioned the "great price" that they initially paid. People this is your body, you only get one! Don't mess it up, because the price was with this doctor was cheaper than the doctor you felt most comfortable with! I cannot reiterate how important this is. Don't chose someone, because they're a few grand cheaper! Save longer and go to the doctor you feel more comfortable with, even it means saving for a few months or even a year longer! Trust me on this. My doctor was by no means the cheapest and to be quite frank he was actually 6k more than the next cheapest doctor. Yes it took saving and yes it took cutting corners, but I felt 100% confident in my decision and still do (I am now 6 weeks post TT).

The doctor that I chose was Dr. Rady Rahban in Beverly Hills. I had originally discovered Dr. Rahban years ago when I was thinking about getting my nose done. I had bookmarked him as his work was truly amazing. After years of researching again, but this time for my tummy tuck and not finding anyone's work that I truly loved, I revisited his site wondering if he did tummy tucks too. Well I must say I was blown away, not to mention the fact that he is one of the few doctors that actually has a "tummy tuck scar" gallery. For some reason 90% of the doctors that I researched, don't feel this is important. To me it was super important, hence why I was impressed that Dr Rahban put it out there for us to see. I decided to consult with Dr Rahban after meeting the other 4 doctors, he was my first choice based of photos only so I wanted to be able to compare him to the rest. After meeting the other 4 doctors, there was only one front runner that stood out, but yet did not feel 100% comfortable that he was the fit for me. So fingers crossed hopefully Dr Rahban would be the one. The day had finally come to meet him and have my consult, put it this way 5 minutes into my consult I knew he was going to be the one. He was the most knowledgable, honest, straight forward, and super anal/picky doctor that i had met. I did think that he was a little on the cocky side, but I loved that about him as it showed me how confident he was in his work and also showed that he had the utmost pride in his surgeries. I never felt that he was bothered by my numerous questions, but rather that he was happy I was asking so many. He is a book of knowledge with everything I had to ask and I waked away from my consult feeling educated and confident that he would ultimately be my choice for my tummy tuck.

Fast forward to the day of my surgery and being a ball of nerves, once he walked into the holding room everything I was feeling flew out the window. There he was again assuring me that everything was going to be ok and that I was in the best hands. Surgery went amazing, I'm not going to lie. yes I was in pain. The next 3-4 days were pretty rough, but after that it was smooth sailing. Over the next 6 weeks I had 5 follow up appointments (all standard, Dr Rahban is super anal with the healing process). Each and every appointment went great and I could not be happier with my results. Follow his guidelines and do as you say, it is imperative to making sure your surgery and scar turn out the best possible.

I know this is a lot to absorb, but trust me...I did my research and you will not find a surgeon better than Dr. Rahban. He is an absolute artist when it comes to surgery!

I am turning 40 next week and am the mother of 4, 2 being a set of twins. I can relate to your years of searching as I have been doing the same thing for a couple of years now. My biggest hang up is the scarring. How do you feel about your scars? Are they what you had expected?

What did you use on your scar

I used Biocorneum - I also made sure to put spf70 on the scar anytime I was in my bikini, the scar doesn't show in my swimwear but the sun can still damage it through the material.
