Since a friend had recommended Dr. Richards who did two skin removal procedures and an abdominoplasty for her (so she got to know him well), I didn't feel the need to really interview him myself. My friend had interviewed several docs in the area before choosing him, so all I did was to look up his credentials myself and hope that he would say I was a good candidate for the liposuction. My first impressions were of a nice person who is very competent. He recommended liposuction for the abs and flanks and didn't try to push me into more, or more invasive, procedures, I didn't feel judged or embarrassed, and he was honest about what results I could expect (i.e., how resilient my skin would likely be at my age). He (and his nurses and patient coordinator) answered all my questions, including being responsive to email, both before and after the procedure, and I have been going for regular follow-up visits. I could never have achieved these results without his help. He warned me to continue to exercise and watch my diet which I am doing!

After a total abdominal hysterectomy at 43 which loosened my abdominal muscles and threw me into menopause, I immediately lost my waistline and over time my figure continued to deteriorate. Exercising 3-4 times a week with a trainer and watching my diet didn't help and I just couldn't get rid of, literally, a big flabby spare tire around my midsection that was uncomfortable and looked terrible. A friend recommended Dr. Franklin Richards so I went straight to him. I am so glad that I did it. I continue to work out with my trainer and watch my diet into order to keep my new figure and I go for the lymphatic drainage massage that he recommended (with Victoria Goldsten).

Sounds exactly like what I've been dealing with, except my hysterectomy was at 40. I have the same "spare tire" issue and I'm trying to decide on lipo method. Do you know what technology/method he used?
I had smartlipo. Good luck with your decision! It's great not to have so much extra flab around the middle!
Great result, btw. You must be trilled - I would be :).
Great results , could I ask how much it cost and how long was recovery
I paid $6,000 which included pre- and post-op/follow-up appointments, the operating room fee and the compression garment. I did pay for the prescription pain meds but didn't touch them; I did fine with Tylenol Arthritis Pain Relief. As for the recovery, I had the procedure on a Thursday morning and went back to work on Wednesday. I went home with a drainage tube that was ready to come out on Monday but due to a snow storm, it was removed on Tuesday (I went to Dr. Richards' office and his nurse removed it). I didn't want to take a shower or drive while I had the drainage tube and would not have wanted to go to work with it. Although I was fine to return to work on Wednesday, I was walking and getting in and out of chairs gingerly and I was exhausted by the end of the day. Also sitting all day in my office chair at the computer was tiring and uncomfortable. It was much more comfortable sitting back in a recliner chair. If I had it to do over again, I would have worked from home until the next Monday. At home, I slept in the recliner chair for about 1 1/2 weeks I think. As for exercising, Dr. Richards advised that I do only low-impact walking for the first 2 weeks after the procedure. After that, I returned to the gym and exercised with my personal trainer "as tolerated." It took about 2 months to return to my pre-lipo exercise routine, except for running on the treadmill which I could do at the 3 month mark.
I have gone through the exact issues as you describe.
How are the massages and how much if you don't mind me asking. I am in VA and having surgery on 2 Sep and I have been looking for someone that does the massages. Thank you and you look fabulous!!
