LIPOSUCTION OF THE ABDOMEN AND FLANKS -23 Years Old with ALOT of Stubborn Fat in the Abdominal Area - Bethesda, MD

ORIGINAL POST

I have been struggling with my weight for the past...

WORTH IT$9,000
I have been struggling with my weight for the past 4 years. I have a severe anxiety disorder that got extremely worse after high school. With that I was in and out of the hospital for panic attacks and all I really would do was eat, sleep and panic. In the past year, I finally got on the right medications and made a complete 180, lost 40 pounds and felt great! My one problem area where I was most self conscious was my abdomen. I just felt like no matter how much weight I was losing, that area was continuing to get bigger. Thats when I started thinking about the unthinkable, something I would never think of doing in my life, getting plastic surgery to remove that stubborn area. After a few months of going back and forth in my head whether I should even consider that, I started looking into it. One of my moms good friends who has had a lot of work done gave me these exact words "I would not go to any doctor around here but Dr. Richards." At that time I had already had one consultation with another doctor in the area and he was able to get me in for the surgery that next week. That was my initial plan. I was so excited to get it done so quick! But my mom told me "you should always go to more than one consultation for a serious surgery like this." So I googled Dr. Richards, read his reviews, and decided to call and set up a consultation. It was just my luck that he didn't have any openings until a month and a half later (obviously proving he is popular). My mind was telling me to say "forget it" and to just go with the other doctor, but then thought that it is way more important to go to someone who I feel is the best person for me no matter how long I have to wait. So I waited and long story short I met with Dr. Richards, scheduled the surgery after I met with him and now I am 1 week post op and I have never been happier in my life!! Everybody at Cosmetic Surgery Associates is absolutely amazing. My anxiety disorder caused me to be extremely nervous for the procedure, I was shaking like a leaf and crying like a baby. I wouldn't have been able to do it without such an amazing team of people around me. THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. RICHARDS AND EVERYBODY AT COSMETIC PLASTIC SURGERY ASSOCIATES (BETHESDA)

Keep us posted on your recovery!  How is the pain and swelling going for you?  You look great in your post op pic.

So I actually did not take what they prescribed me for pain because it makes me sick. They prescribed me Vicodin but I didn't take any. All I took was tylenol. I manage pain well. But it really wasn't all that bad. When I woke up I felt like I just had a really intense ab workout session with my trainer. When I got home from surgery I walked around my block! So I imagine if all I took was tylenol and was ok, you will definitely be ok if you are taking the heavier meds. The day after surgery was the most uncomfortable day. Each day it got better and better. Monday was my post-op and Dr Richards told me I could take the garment off Tuesday. So yesterday I took it off and last night I could not get comfortable and did not fall asleep until 4am. I realized that the garment REALLY helped with the pain and with how uncomfortable I was. When the first two days I thought it was the most annoying thing ever! Now I'm keeping it on until I have no more swelling pain bruising or bumps. So I will probably keep it on another 2 weeks.

Wow it sounds like the pain has been very manageable.  Amazing how effective the garment is!

It really isn't all that bad! And yes, I put it back on it is so much more comfortable, I would recommend wearing it until all the soreness and swelling goes away.

Definitely let us know how everything continues to go for you during your healing process- can't wait to see more progress pics and pics of your final results :)

My surgery date is tomorrow :) after reading your review I feel a lot better. I am so happy for you and by the way, you look fabulous! I am going to keep in touch with you.
You will be just fine and you are going to be SO happy! It is so worth it. No problem keeping in touch let me know if you have any questions!
I really hope so :) I'm in pre op right now in dr Richards office. I think I start at 1 . I'm so nervous to go under girl!! :(
Hey love, I'm laying in bed :) dr Richards took good care of me.. However I didn't know how to use these drains. I have the drain under my compression garments but with the tube of fluid out so I can visibly see it.. Not sure if this was right. How long did this last for you?
Yes, that is right. He keeps it in until you are draining LESS THAN 20 cc in a 24 hour period. They took mine out at my post op a week after!
Keep the bulb suctioned
Will do :) I guess this is day 3 for me and I barely have any fluid... It hurts to walk :( how long until you could walk normally? Sorry for all the questions. I'm so happy I found someone that went to the same Doctor :)
That's good. Then they will probably take it out Monday. Just make sure you let them know you don't have that much fluid coming out and they will have you come in to take it out. I was walking the day I came home, are you taking the pain meds? I would try to walk around a little and just deal with the pain to get yourself to be able to walk. I'm so happy to help you!
@loveyourself8 Did u experience a lot of pain during the procedure?
Congrats. You look fantastic. So glad to hear that you got your panic disorder in check. And now with those great abs. Wow
Thank you so much! Can't wait till I can start working out!
Hi. I am considering lipo with Dr. Richards and I am just wondering - was it painful? When I had my consultation with Dr. Richards he assured me that I will be so out of it from the meds that I will barely remember the operation. Was that the case for you? I am so scared of the pain. Please let me know!
I am just reading in your comment below that you fell asleep. Were you put under general anesthesia? Dr. Richards informed me it would be local...
Depending on how much Lipo he is doing is what determines the anesthesia I believe. The worst day was like 2 days after and it was even that bad. I didn't take one pain pill, I was fine. He's amazing. You won't remember anything. Their anesthesiologist is amazing. They will all make you feel so comfortable. I have an anxiety disorder and the fact that I was able to do it.. I believe anyone can do it. You'll be on your way home an hour and a half after surgery. And when you wake up you will feel amazing, it's like the best sleep you have ever gotten.
I am planning to get abs & flanks done. I dont think I will be asleep, I believe for me it will be local anesthesia. That is what I am nervous about. The pain experienced when awake under local....
You will be asleep..you won't remember anything. It's the same thing as being asleep trust me.
OK. You can see I am a nervous wreck! Lol. I just thought you were awake with local... reading all of these review (i've read 100's) really can freak you out!
Yea they can but it's seriously not bad especially if you're just doing lipo...I'm getting a tummy tuck in May. I have lost a lot more weight since the surgery
