I am a 46-year old woman who has always been generally pleased with her appearance. I had never thought about cosmetic surgery prior to the last year, when I kept getting a recurrent "Are you okay? You look tired." comment from everyone in my life. I realized that my father's eye bags featured prominently on my own face! I compared photos of myself from recent years, and there was no mistaking the emergence of this unsightly feature at age 45. I considered injections, but my dermatologist said that I would not be happy with the result and recommended plastic surgeons for eye bag removal. I interviewed a number of plastic surgeons and settled on Dr. Richards because his results appeared to be better and he inspired confidence during the interview. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Who knew such a small thing could change one's appearance so much? Nobody has asked me whether I had any work done, but everyone has remarked that I look GREAT - "have you been exercising? is your hair different? did you do botox? were you just on vacation?" My husband, who is the only audience member about whom I really care, had been against my getting anything done ("You look beautiful; don't mess with your appearance"), and even/especially he is pleased with the result. ("Okay, I stand corrected, that is pretty amazing; you look like you did when we first met 20+ years ago."). Dr. Richards performed lower eye bag removal, lower lid pinch, and fat grafting in one procedure. The whole experience was painless and went exactly as he said it would. The results could not be better/more natural looking (again, I look just like myself, but myself at 25 instead of 46). The staff and facilities were top notch. I highly recommend. I have given Dr. Richards permission to share my photos and real name with anyone who would like to see my actual results and discuss further.

I desperately want this done. I know I look so tired and washed out all the time. I'm embarrassed to go out. It is really affecting my quality of life severely, but I can t afford the procedure!!! It's so frustrating. I would love to see your pics tho. A girl can dream...

Hello - The takeaway from my review should be that I am one data point of a patient who had eye bags removed, lower lid pinch and fat grafting by Dr. Richards, and I was pleased with the result. The "claim" is my subjective opinion of how the procedure made me look (and more importantly how it made me feel); I am not out to convince anyone of anything, so while I understand people's desires to see photos, I am not inclined to post pictures of myself anywhere on the Internet, and I appreciate RealSelf's policy of not requiring photos as a precondition to sharing one's experience with a particular procedure or physician. I researched my procedures extensively on here prior to having them done and found all the information shared by individuals invaluable. I probably would not have had the procedure done at all had I not achieved a certain comfort level with is through realself first.

In three days I'm having Dr. Richards remove my lower eye bags, just as he did yours. I just wanted you to know that your review of Dr. Richards really put my mind at ease.

Hello I had the exact same procedure done by Dr. Richards at the end of January and my results are also stunning. I look a solid 10 years younger maybe more and the recovery was very easy. I’m going to write up a review shortly and include pictures. If you are considering lower lid blepharoplasty it does have one of the highest satisfaction rates of any plastic surgery and that’s part of the reason I did it.
People use to say the same thing to me and it was so rude! We would love it if you would post your pics here so we can see your results, most of our users prefer to stay on RealSelf versus seek out pictures from off the site.
A claim? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
It is up to each user if they want to share photos or not, we don't require it. We'd rather see a review with no photos than no review at all as the content is still quite helpful. I agree that reviews with photos can be more helpful, fortunately there are plenty of those on the site that you can check out.
We use both automated and manual processes to verify reviews as much as we possibly can before they go up on the site.
