I am a little over one week post op and had my second follow up visit. The pain was very uncomfortable the first 3 days but after that it started to subside. I slept with pillows keeping me propped up. By day number four I was able to asleep on my side little but not much. I made sure to walk around the house a little as well. On Sunday when I woke up I heard fluid in my breasts becuase my surgeon didn't use drains. When I went for my post op they did an ultrasound to make sure the fluid wasn't a large amount but didn't see much. They also removed my stitches and gave me the okay to start putting aquaphor on twice a day to help the adhesive from the tape used to close my incisions loosen. On my left breast my skin was a little irritated from the tape so after the tape came off I was told to use bacitracin. The stitches getting removed resulted in major comfort because they we're starting to pull and itch. In a few days the tape slid right of with lots of dead skin. I gently in the shower and apply the ointment. I also keep putting guaze in my sports bra because I'm still have a small amount of drainage and the dead skin that sheds sticks to your bra. I see the doctor again in 3 weeks.

"heard fluid in my breasts" just absolutely freaked me out but you seem fine so I hope it didn't scare you at the time. mine didn't use drain either and so far so good (had mine done on jan 20th).

they look great. are you happy with the results thus far? was lipo done as well? i have some new swelling on the lipo site underneath the arms today (so many days after!) but it might be because i started wearing a bra yesterday (was in bandages PO til yesterday).

onwards and upwards! :)

I am extremely happy ! He didn't use lipo because my breast tissue was more towards the front than the sides. Luckily I'm a nurse and work in surgical specialties so there wasn't much that shocked me about recovery :-) they took my bandages off the day after surgery and I wore a surgical bra until my sutures were removed and now I'm in the front close sports bras that purchased before surgery. Hope you continue to recover well!

I figured that since you're a nurse, you're well prepared to cope with all this. You see, I was so freaked out by the surgery that i didn't even research enough so yesterday when my PS mentioned that my bruises on a side are from lipo, it was the first time I heard about it being done as part of BR :) Yeah, quite ignorant of me but...Then i found this forum and started 'educating' myself (too little too late but luckily, so far so good so i have no regrets). :)

Stay well!

I went to the office the morning for my 1st post of visit. Dr. Hyans nurse Maria changed my bandages and put me in a surgical bra. I was instructed to keep it on at all time except when showering. I also put guaze in the surgical bra because I'm still oozing a little which I was assured is normal. My soreness today was a little more. I feel it in my upper abdomen and sides. Also in my neck from sleepy oddly as I am usually a tummy sleeper. I took another pain pill and spent the day relaxing in bed. I'll keep you posted on my recovery. I go next Monday to have my sutures removed. Stay tuned !

Surgery Day

I had my surgery yesterday. I checked into the sx center at noon and my procedure started at 1pm. Dr. Hyans and the anesthesiologist came and explained everything to me and we signed consents. They gave me medication in my IV and then wheeled me into the OR. The next thing I remember I was waking up in recovery with bandages secured with a breast binder. My chest severely burned and my PACU nurse Lisa gave me three doses of meds to help get the pain under control. They checked my stats and as soon as I was comfortable I got dressed and they wheeled me to the car to come home. I sat in the front seat reclined with a pillow to help with the bumps. Unfortunalety it's winter in the New Jersey so the pot holes were plentiful but my mom avoided as much as possible. When I got home there was a little drainage in my binder so I stuffed more gauze in there and kept the binder on. I ate jello and soup because my throat was sore from the tube that was put down my wind pipe to keep it open during surgery. I used 1 body pillow and 3 regular pillow for my back and two pillows on each side under my arms to keep my comfortable. I used the reusable ice packs for a cooler and wrapped it in a towel to aid with the swelling. I recommend two because when one melted the other one was ready to go in the freezer. I did use the bathroom every hour because the IV fluid was working its way out. After taking a Percocet right before bed I slept on and off through the night with not much pain so the first night was pretty good.
