Day 12 post op

The first week was horrible and I was in a lot of pain. Now I'm mainly just sore. I've been wearing spanx instead of the compression garment they sent me home in. I found it helps the swelling a lot better. Im not taking anything for pain now. I take tylenol if i do too much in the day though.
I drove all by myself and got my errands done yesterday. I was so swollen and tired by the end if it, but I was able to accomplish all I needed to.
I'm loving the results though. I know I'm swollen, but my belly button no longer droops and my waist is defined. My husband is excited too.

Day 1 recovery

Had my tummy tuck yesterday. Dr Dry was amazing and finished it in 3 hours. Yesterday I was in less pain, but wasn't able to rest much. The whole staff was very attentive and the anesthesiologist was great about my fear of needles. Dr Dry removed 6 lbs of loose skin.

Had to go to the ER last night to get a catheter since the surgery upset my bladder and i hadn't peed since 8 am. RNs tried 6 times to get one in. It was torture and tramatizing. I told them to use infant since that's the only one that fits me, but they kept trying adult and child. Finally they went and got a labor and delivery nurse. She was amazing and got an infant one placed first try.

Today I'm in a lot of pain since the 3 incompetent ones kept moving me around. One of the RNs wanted to take my pain pump and I refused to let her. Today I'm draining a little less which is a good sign. The pain is sometimes really bad especially when I have to get off the couch and walk. I need help for everything right now. To prevent blood clots I walk very slowly and hunched over for 5 or 10 minutes every hour.

The couch is my best friend. I have to sleep with my head and legs propped up to avoid pulling a stitch. I haven't seen how anything looks like, but I will Monday at my post op. I've been drinking lots of water, sports drinks, and protein shakes. I need 70 to 80 grams of protein a day to help the healing process.

My husband is taking care of me and is doing a great job. He has been trying to get me to eat solid food (greek yogurt, apple sauce, gluten free crackers, and lentil soup). He woke up at 4:30 am to give me some medicine and drain everything.

The muscles the Dr had to fuse back together hurts really bad and so does the area where the drains come out. It'll get better though. The first 3 to 4 days are the worse and my husband is taking some time off work to care for me. My family has been stopping by as well to help. I mainly just sleep a lot right now, but I'm coherent which is good too.

I've gone from a size 20 to a size 4; from 240 lbs to 170 lbs, which puts me only 10 lbs overweight at my height. I wear my dream pants size now. The deep stretch marks above the pubic area and the droopy skin especially around the belly button is not my dream though. I'm having a tummy tuck with flank liposuction on 8/7. My pre op went well. Dr Dry was great. He answered all my questions and commended me on my weight loss. My husband and family are very supportive. They know how hard I worked to get this small. My husband never knew me when I was obese, but he sees the effects on my body. I'm excited, nervous, and scared. I've done my research and have a month off work. Can't wait till it's all done!

Dr Dry is great. He took his time at my pre op and answered all my questions thoroughly.
