21 Year Old with Upper Lip Scar - Bellevue, WA

I came to Dr. Ridgway with the hope of camouflaging a scar I had on my upper lip, as the result of a childhood bicycle injury. After reading several reviews on RealSelf and meeting with Dr. Ridgway for an initial consultation, I was confident he was the most fit doctor to perform my cosmetic surgery. During my first visit with Dr. Ridgway, we discussed the parts of my lip that I was unhappy with and the results I hoped to achieve with surgery. He explained the different options, without trying to steer me in a specific direction. We talked about the stereotypes that are often tied to plastic surgery and that his goal is to create a natural appearance while bringing balance to the face. He approached my situation from a father's standpoint, and I trusted in his ability to give me the natural results I was looking for. After our conversation, I decided to have a fat transfer done to my lips as well as dermabrasion (resurfacing) to the skin above my upper lip where the scar was. Together, these would help reshape and lighten my scarred lip. I have only positive comments to make about Dr. Ridgway. (My mom was impressed with him too!) He was positive and professional during all of our interactions, and remained friendly and encouraging, even when I expressed my concerns. Dr. Ridgway is passionate about his work, and truly cares about the well being of his patients. He made me feel at ease about the procedure and carefully went over the healing process with me. He stayed in close contact with me right after my surgery, and then several days later, to follow up on my progress. Dr. Ridgway addressed my questions and concerns, while also giving me lots of reassurance and positive feedback. After the swelling went down, I was able to see the results and was quite pleased. Now, two and a half months post surgery, the scar has faded and my lips look more even. I highly recommend Dr. Ridgway to anyone who is considering surgery for facial scars.
