WORTH IT
I would like to start out by stating that Dr. Ridgeway is an amazing person and surgeon. Dr. Ridgeway is a very caring, kind, thoughtful, and respectful person. He is also very careful, detailed, and passionate with his medical approach for helping others. The combination of an amazing person and surgeon is why I am so blessed to have found Dr. Ridgeway.
When I first shared my story of the birth defect I had, Dr. Ridgeway was very attentive and from his body language, he showed that he really cared about my deformity and the struggles that I have been through.
Since I was an infant, I have had 5 total surgeries for my cleft palate before meeting Dr. Ridgeway. I am very particular with who I choose to have operating on me because I have learned over the years that technology & surgical technique available may be limited, scare tissue only increases with each new surgery, and overcoming emotional struggles is a barrier. As a result, I don’t just allow anyone to operate on me.
Scares and scare tissue is a huge problem because it becomes more noticeable that surgery has been attempted, especially when it is on the face and visible to everyone that makes eye contact. As a result, I am not hugely into makeup products, however, I apply enough in this particular area to hide my scares. As a result, future operations were not desirable because I did not want any further scaring or disappointments due to failed attempts.
I had no doubt in my mind from the first time that I met Dr. Ridgeway that he was the perfect surgeon for me. This operation was not going to be easy because of this surgery has been attempted multiple times in the past and now trying to fix what other surgeons were unable to do.
The one thing that stood out to me most about this surgery was the intelligent creativity that was involved with the operation. This surgery was not a temporary fix or multiple step process. Instead, this was a one time permanent fix. I was impressed with the idea entirely and went ahead with the operation with minimal to no hesitation.
After the surgery was completed and I was in the recovery room, I felt excitement and sense of relief that something that has been long waited has finally been done. Months later, I can say that I am 100% satisfied with the results of this surgery. I am more confident and less self-conscious about my appearance. I am also so impressed with no visible surgery scare.
If I can change one thing about this entire lifetime experience with surgeries and surgeons, I would have only gone to Dr. Ridgeway to reconstruct my facial appearance. I am very thankful and blessed to have met Dr. Ridgeway. He has boosted my self-confidence and removed a lot of the personal pain of the birth defect. I highly recommend Dr. Ridgeway and his team to others.
From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate everything that Dr. Ridgeway has done for me. It means more to me than you will ever know! Thank you so very much Dr. Ridgeway.
