I have some permanent freckles from sun exposure....
I have some permanent freckles from sun exposure. Even once you start taking care of your skin the sun damage that has been done is done and might take years to show up. I don't have much, but a few spots on my face were bothering me. I want to stay on top of my skincare.
I called four places and had physical appointments at two. Three of the places wanted to sell me right away on big packages of several rounds of laser, over the phone. The first place I went promised that IPL could eliminate dark spots, take out one white spot from sun damage on my arm, and undo skin damage. I was cautious with these over the moon claims and after reading some negative reviews on here I decided at the time that IPL wasn't for me.
I've been out of the sun and then a couple new freckles started to show up. I first looked on here, but couldn't find anyone specific in my local area. So, I looked on yelp and found great reviews for Shelly at Skinnovate. She said an all over skin laser treatment was too much for my level of sun damage and that I was better off with a spot treatment. I trusted her because she didn't try to upsell me and get me to buy a big package that I didn't need.
She's more about educating people about skin care. I first tried out a little spot on my hand to test the reaction. I was so happy. The freckle became dramatically lighter and the skin in that spot became buttery smooth. Perfect. Shelly told me how laser works is that it targets dark pigment, so it won't take out any white sun damage. That pigment in your skin is gone. Luckily I only have one spot, but If you go somewhere make sure they have the right facts and aren't telling you that laser can do everything. We also talked a lot about skincare, sunscreen, and prevention. Also, laser might improve your skin texture a bit, but it varies and it doesn't reverse the damage.
Anyway, I was super excited after trying IPL and finding someone I trusted, so after a couple of days I booked my appointment for my spot treatment. I took a before video that I will post soon. After the appointment my skin was a little red in the spots I was zapped and my freckles were darker, not cute but it doesn't last long. The redness for me was gone after a couple of days and then the dark spots fall off leaving lighter pigment underneath. I still have some freckles, but what I have is lighter and less noticeable. I usually don't wear makeup and I want my skin to look good. I am happy because I got exactly what I was promised. If I were to go in for another treatment the spots would probably be completely invisible or barely noticeable. I'll post before and after videos soon!!
