I will start off by saying I'm actually Puerto Rican and African American decent.
I always liked my original nose but when I consulted with an ENT doctor he told me I had a deviated septum and I should have it corrected. He never told me if I had septum work that the shape of my nose would change. Roughly a year after surgery I noticed my nose tip was bulbous and nose shape changed. To my horror each yr that passed my nose seemed bigger and bigger.

Black tank top show my progress in 6 weeks.
Surgery was so easy, recovery was literally not bad at all....I had minimal pain if even that.
After only 6 weeks since my surgery I'm very happy with my results so far and I'm not even healed all the way. Follow your doctors orders because I believe that helps with recovery

Thanks and yes agree this better suites my face.
It's a bit frustrating when people minimize your feelings and I know my friends who didn't want me to have this done meant well by saying "it looks fine" (prior to surgery) but if I hate it....that's really all that matters.
I have wanted this done for over 20yrs and I'm glad i took the leap....I feel reborn

Iam a African American female and afraid of going through with all the bad reviews it's hard to trust a doctor with that particular surgery how long did it take you to decide on him and how is your breathing

I was actively pursuing finding a doctor for about 15 months. I agree it's a HUGE decision and our nose isn't like a pinky toe that you can shove in a shoe and hide from the world. I was actually looking for a surgeon in NYC but when I looked at the before and after pics on ethnic rhinoplasty I was NOT IMPRESSED with the after. I even consulted with a reputable surgeon in Europe but something just didn't feel right so I elected to keep searching.
Although the NJ location wasn't very convenient for me after watching Dr. Janjua surgical procedures on YouTube and viewing before and after pics I decided to consult with him. I knew during the consult my search was over. Plus his background, years in practice and his addressing all my concerns really helped.
Dr. Janjua insisted before surgery that I give up my addiction to nose spray (which was a 25yr habit using nose spray 8-11 times every day). He actually suggested I purchase two items and use them instead of nose spray. The first two days I wanted to die but he was right when he told me to stick with his regime. My breathing is fine and I rarely use the saline spray he suggested (which is a better option over nose spray).

Yes Bedminster NJ .....but it's worth the trip when a doctor understands and honors what you want. You can do you first consult via FaceTime (which is what I did).

Did he do open or closed rhinoplasty?

August 7, 2017
He did closed rhinoplasty. During our FaceTime consult I was only actually going to only have a rhinoplasty but he suggested I also have an alarplasty (which is when the nostrils are made smaller).
I wasn't sure about that but then he explained how having only a rhinoplasty wouldn't actually give me the achieved look I wanted but combining both procedures would surely rid me of the bulbous tip and would decrease the width of my nose (especially when smiling).
He left it up to me (he wasn't pushing for me to add the alarplasty) I'm elated he suggested it and that I agreed to have it done because with rhino alone I wouldn't have gotten the look I wanted.

I think having the alarplasty was best as it added to the overall balance of your rhino. It's looks great and natural. I had an consult with him and I definitely need an alarplasty and rhino. Can't wait to have it done. Also did he use an implant in your nose, cartilage from your ear or just your own tissues from inside your nose to refine your tip? Thanks for all the info your helping me so much with my decision to go with him.

Omg I'm so glad you contacted Dr. Janjua....I'm sure he put you at ease with his amazing demeanor.
He didn't use an implant or harvest any bone from my rib or ear. I told him that I liked the bridge of my nose and didn't want that touched and he agreed that it was fine the way it was. He told me he would refine the tip by removing excess bone and do the alarplasty and that would be all that was required.
He assured me that he would use my bridge (in its original state) as the staring point and would incorporate the rest of procedures to fit in nicely it's my bridge thereby keeping my results as natural as possible.
Picking a doctors was the biggest battle and most stressful part in my rhinoplasty journey. I'm happy for you and glad I could. You ca reach out anytime I'm more than happy to help.

Thanks and I'm still not healed all the way either so I'm rather impressed since it been less than two months. I think you will be very pleased with him and his work.
Good luck if you do use Dr. J
