My surgery is finally scheduled for Thursday July 30th. I will be having a tummy tuck and breast list. No lipo, no implants per my surgeons recommendation. Hope he is right!
I have lost over 120lbs since 2004. My highest weight was 277lbs and I am currently 145-150 and plan on being down another 5lbs by my procedure. Over the last few years I have got my nutrition in line and maintained my weight. This was important to me before I made the investment. Being 5'3 I wanted a lower number on the scale but I have a good amount of muscle. Outside of these saggy boobs and belly, I am happy with my body.
The hardest part for me is thinking about the recovery. I am not one the is good at resting. I own my own gym and teaching over 20+ fitness classes every week. The thought of not teaching and working out is very VERY stressful for me. I will listen to my doctor and my body but I am terrified I will gain weight or lose my ambition.
I have been overweight my whole life. As I tell my clients about my surgery (I have to share because I can't disappear from people that see me everyday), I have to tell them my whole weight loss journey. I don't want anyone to think that this is or that there is a quick fix. I have worked so hard to tighten this skin and it just isn't happening. It is crazy because I can feel definition underneath but all I see is a huge ball of smooshy dough. My surgeon said that after definition may or may not show. He said it was directly related to body fat percentage. We will see about that.
I was so happy to find this page. I love my surgeon and found him after several consultations. We are very much on the same page and I am sure he is clear about what I am looking for and he is great at communicating expectations to me. It is hard not knowing anyone personally that has gone through it but I know this is the right choice for me and I enjoy reading what others share and see their amazing transformations.
I would love to hear about people's recovery time and when they could return to exercising, running specifically.
Thanks,
MrsC

Yesterday was rough. Had a follow up appointment in my surgeons office first thing in the morning and they removed all the bandages from my drain and breast. They removed the drain from my breast but the drain in my public area won't come out for 1-2 weeks. They laid me on my back and had me repeatedly stretch my legs straight, I was in agony but they told me I should be doing it 30 times a day! I didn't stay in front of the pain well and that was my fault but I feel like the pills don't even help. Today is 2 days PO and I am hoping for just a little relief. I have been walking around the house every hour but that isn't fun. The back pain is rough too. I have no regrets. I love my breasts!! The swelling below my belly button and on my sides is concerning plus the scale has me up 15 lbs haha! I have faith everything will be perfect as I start to heal but wow, don't realize how strong you are until that is your only option!

I just want to say congratulations and I am extremely proud of you and your journey!!! I had a tummy tuck and breast lift with implants/doctor recommended. It's been 3 weeks. I just want to say, day by day, take it day by day. It will get better and easier especially since you are athletic!! Your body will adjust.

Thank you! How is the swelling on your stomach? When did you really notice it start to go down? I am still numb and my stomach feels had as a rock

You are most welcome!! sorry for the late reply I thought I would get notified with my email if people replied. but my swelling is finally going down alot. I started to notice around week 4 (mid week). yeah my stomach is still numb they said it will take about 2-3 months for that to go away. And my stomach is just now feeling a little soft. How is your journey going so far? Have you noticed any changes?

Yay! Congrats!! And don't worry, I gained weight, too. It's just swelling, I promise. It's strange that they want you to stretch like that 30 times a day so early post op. My surgeon said that stretching too much like that would put strain on the muscles and incision, and to take it easy. But like everyone says, you should listen to your surgeon.

Keep up the hard work! I had a panini 3 years ago and was extremely disappointed when I got on the scale the day after and had gained 15#. The majority of it is fluid from the surgery. Your right. Your inner strength will see you through this! Good luck... But most importantly good healing!
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I know there are a lot of members in the same boat as you who are very active and athletic. I suggest checking out the doctor Q&A for some opinions and advice.
